I enjoy going here to eat dinner or even lunch. The service is fast. The food tastes fresh. The prices appear to be fair. I usually order the shrimp plate paired with a root beer. Now Hibachi-San sells cheesecake. A good way to complete your meal. At the order counter, you see a list of the sauces you can choose from: teriyaki, garlic and ginger, and other options. You can ask for white or brown rice. Located in the Ala Moana Mall, you can take lines 8, 19,20,42. Easy access. After completing your shopping, stop by here and enjoy yourself.

Pretty stock chicken teriyaki joint. I mean I usually just get chicken teriyaki but it’s consistent and clean as far as I can see. Sometimes in malls food can be unsettling. Anyway thumbs up. They now have uncle tetsu’s cheese cake. I’ll stick the the NY cheese cake though. Tetsu’s is more like light cheesecake flavored sponge cake. But their normal entrees are pretty good.

The salmon plate and salmon salad were really good. The teriyaki sauce is tasty without overdoing it. Looking forward to trying their other plates.

I really enjoyed my lunch chicken and shrimp and I also tried the steak and chicken prepped a different way. They were both delicious. They’re locate in the food court of Ala Moana Shopping Center. Choose what you want shrimp, steak, chicken with rice or pay the extra $ 1 for the noodles. Tell them what kind of sauce you want. I’m surely glad I got the noodles. I enjoyed both sauces. Stand on the side and wait as they prepare the meal. Make sure you listen for your number because you might not hear it being called. They do get very busy during the lunch hour. Or maybe they’re always busy. It’s that good. Prices are reasonable. You get a big meal noodles, chicken and veggies so cooked hibachi style. They sell Pepsi drinks. I don’t like Pepsi so I went next door to get a soda. Choose some where to sit in the busy area or you can take it home. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. I will be back for sure.

Hibachi-San Japanese Grill is located at the Ala Moana food court next to Charlie’s Sub. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon to kill time before our appointment at the Apple store and to kill the grumbling sounds coming from our stomach. When walking around the food court, we’re always indecisive on what we wanna eat. As we were making our round, we passed this Japanese couple that was sharing a Beef Plate from Hibachi-San, which made us crave for some ourselves. I wasn’t too hungry so while my boyfriend ordered that same Beef Plate we saw, I ended up getting a Spicy Tuna Bowl as the picture looked delicious. Prices ranged from $ 8-$ 15. We waited about 10mins for our food, which felt like forever. When my boyfriend finally came with our food since I was saving our seats, he said the wait was long because the people before us had a large order. Blehh. I tried some of my boyfriend’s food and the meat was tender and the sauce was flavorful. But I’ve had better elsewhere. As for my poke, it was just alright. It wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t delicious. The poke didn’t taste fresh and the color looked a lot lighter than the picture. I also didn’t like how huge they cut the green onions. I don’t mind green onions, but too much of it makes me feel sick; so I ended up pushing most of it on the side. Even though the bowl was pretty small, I still didn’t finish my food. I don’t know if it was just because I wasn’t too hungry, or if it just wasn’t so great, I didn’t want to finish it… but regardless, my boyfriend demolished his plate and then finished my food. With all the other food options at the food court, we probably won’t be back…

Seems like I always gravitate to this place when I’m at the Ala Moana food court. I like it that they cook the food right there and then. Usually get the chicken and beef combo.

Love this spot! Protein and vege Heaven! You can choose your sauce to add to your protein of choice that they throw on the hibachi grill. I love their steak and shrimp combo with brown rice and Veges here with teriyaki sauce. Everything all made fresh right off the grill and not been sitting for many hours.

Nothing special. Typical mall food court meal. Food was okay. Portion was decent. Price was a bit high. I ordered the shrimp and rice plate with the ginger garlic sauce. The sauce was a bit salty.

I usually do not give five stars to restaurants in the food court but I’m going to make an exception tonight. Just had some snacks that HIBACHI-SANJAPANESEGRILL grill and I am insanely happy. Rarely are healthy and delicious in the same sentence but they exist here perfectly together in Balance!

This place caught me off guard– I wasn’t expecting much from a food court restaurant, but Hibachi-San was amazing! I was floored by how good my plate was! I ordered the shrimp plate with garlic and ginger seasoning and it was awesome. The portion size was filling as well.

I was actually thoroughly surprised at the quality of my plate here. You would think it’s just typical mall plate-lunch food, but I was more than satisfied with my order. For authentic Japanese food, I actually prefer Shirokiya, and that’s where we started out but we ended up walking right through. When we got to Hibachi-san I was thinking to myself, if you wanted Japanese food all along, we should’ve at least looked at the menus in Shirokiya! I went into my order not expecting much. I got something that seemed a bit fusion: the angus plate with spicy Osaka sauce. The portion of rice was good, good amount of vegetables in the mix and the spicy Osaka sauce reminded me of chili pepper water or chili pepper sauce of some type. I LOVE spicy food so it really made my order awesome. The beef was well done but it wasn’t too chewy; I actually would’ve preferred it cooked medium-rare, but I’m not sure if we could choose. Either way, it sure was tasty. The price was typical of mall plate-lunches, a wee bit on the high side but I think it was worth it. No problems with service, the wait wasn’t too long for lunch time and I would definitely come back to try something else. I’m not sure how«authentic» my dish was but five stars because I’m just smitten with that angus. Okay, that sounds oddly sensual – don’t take it like that, lol.

Got the steak and shrimp with the garlic ginger sauce. The sauce was tangy like ponzu. Nicely cooked meat, and the price wasn’t bad($ 9.99)!

Five star food court food. Fresh grilled meat and your choice of sauces… less than 40 bucks for the 3 of us in Honolulu…

Absolutely delicious. My number one place to eat at the food court. The staff always has wonderfully customer service and always accommodating. I visit here about once every two weeks. Their food is delicious.

Their fricking chicken and steak(teriyaki) is bomb! IF you haven’t tried it then you’re missing out! The price is great too for mall food and you get enough to get full. Lower the price on the drinks tho. gah damn

While not the best food in the food court, defiantly not the worst. I particularly enjoy their chicken over their steak. The vegetable side that comes with the rice and protein seems kind of bland. They did have brown rice which is a plus. The service was fast and the employees are friendly. If given the choice, I would eat here again but not something worth going out of your way for.

When I am in the mood for a good plate lunch that leans more toward a Japanese-flair, I go to Hibachi-San. One of my favorite spots in the Makai Market Food Court in Ala Moana, the wait for my food, even during busy times, is usually not longer than 10 minutes. They have salads and sides, but their best item is the plate lunches. It comes with rice(white, brown, or you can substitute the rice for fried noodles for an additional price) and grilled vegetables. Normally, I do not like to eat vegetables, especially grilled, but I make an exception for Hibachi-San. I eat ALL the vegetables and I do it with a smile on my face. They have 2 different types of sauces — teriyaki and garlic ginger; I’ve tried both, but my favorite one is their teriyaki. Usually I get their steak plate lunch, which can be very filling. I think they usually cook the steak with mushrooms — perfect! I love mushrooms with my steak :) The steak is pretty good — tender and thinly sliced. The sauce is perfect with the meat and gives the rice flavor(I heart teriyaki sauce with rice). I have also tried their chicken, which is also tender, juicy, and flavorful.

My fiancé surprised me with some takeout from here when I was working an event at the Convention Center nearby. He brought me the salmon salad, and it was so great. The sesame dressing on it is fabulous, and there’s lots of lean, healthy protein in the salad with the tofu, edamame, and candied walnuts. The next day we came back to the food court together and I confirmed for sure: Hibachi-San’s salmon with salad is one of the healthiest, tastiest, and most fulfilling things in the food court! Everything else we had was middling, and with the hectic experience of eating in the food court, I was just really grateful he made such a great choice for me the day before!

Probably my favorite place to eat at when I’m dining at the food court in Ala Moana. Hibachi-San has teppanyaki dishes that taste delicious! They have different plate lunches available: –chicken –steak –shrimp –combination of two of the above Served with white or brown rice and sauteed vegetables. You can choose from teriyaki sauce or garlic ginger sauce. I usually get teriyaki sauce. They also serve gyoza and won ton soup as well as a variety of different sushi in addition to different salads. Staff is friendly and the food is done quickly and tastes great. Here’s my fave: steak and shrimp with mushrooms and veggies. Minus one star… because they took seasoned rice off the menu! It was yummy… but is no longer available. BOO! Still good food though…
