This review is of the breakfast only as I went there about 4 times on my Hawaiian honeymoon. This place is extremely value oriented so that’s why I rate it so high. I mean, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, and 2 sausages or pieces of bacon all for about $ 5??? That’s awesome. I also had the loco moco which was pretty large meaning it wasn’t a plain hamburger patty, but 2x as big. You can also switch out the pancakes for hash browns, which I love to mix with over easy eggs. The service is fast as servers are seen rushing to fulfill orders. Get here around 8:30 and the place is pretty packed. My only complaint is the pancakes were somewhat overcooked on one side. To avoid this I got the waffles which are probably made in a standard way on a waffle iron and almost impossible to burn.

Me: Breakfast? Joe Q(hubby): Galaxy! Me: Again?! I think we ate here most mornings while honeymooning in hawaii. It’s really not so bad. it’s behind the International Market. upstairs in some deserted shopping area. The food isn’t exquisite. but it will do for breakfast. it’s no gourmet. but it’s good and it’s really cheap. Joe loved that fact. I think that’s why we ate there so much. I had their breakfast special of eggs, sausage and hashbrowns one day. then I had something with pancakes the next time. spam and eggs with hashbrowns. and something else I really can’t remember. maybe it was the portuguese sausage. I know I left fairly satisfied and ready to start my day after breakfast there. Joe ordered a Loco Moco. and I think I ate half of it, in addition to my own breakfast. it was pretty good. but I really don’t eat Loco Moco a lot so I don’t have much to compare it to. Their pancakes were rubbery. and when I flipped them over. they were burnt on one side. sneaky! But their syrups always come nice and warm. This is a great place to start the day when vacationing in Hawaii. nice affordable breakfasts. it’s worth the money.

First thing, the address is 2301 Kuhio Ave. on the Second Floor. Dirt cheap breakfast deals. Food is undistinguished but you can’t beat the low, low prices.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ohana Waikiki West, which is across the street and a block down from the Galaxy Steak House. So naturally, we saw the guys standing on the street w/the signs around their body advertising the $ 3.50 breakfast at Galaxy Steak House everyday. We had stayed up all night(well he did — I passed out at one point on the beach) and so at 6am, were walking like zombies back to our hotel when we decided to grab some food. I really wanted some loco moco from L&L but they were closed so we decided to check this place out. Cool thing is that they are open real early — so we were able to get in at 6am. The food, however, was really disappointing. So much so that we took some sad face pictures w/their sign on the way out(see images). This place is kinda like a Denny’s or IHOP… you really wouldn’t eat here unless you had to.

This place is really freakin’ weird. I know, you’re probably thinking, then why the 3 stars. Well this place looks like a bar/club turned into a restaurant from the 80’s. The tables and chair looked really old. I had a really bad feeling when they sat us next to the windows. The chairs were pretty cramped into the spaces. Each time the waiter walked across the room, he made slight squeaky noises like if he walking on indoor basketball court floors. SOWEIRD… I almost regret choosing this restaurant w/o Unilocaling first. I ordered the mahi w/o the coconut curry, plain garlic mash and celery stir fry for $ 9.99 special. My hubby ordered the combo 8oz. NY steak with medium sized shrimps, side salad, baked potato for $ 12.99. Well guess what? The entire meal was decently prepared and might I add, quite tasty… The ambiance is so sketchy, nothing but random tourists in a large room, and we pay the bill at the front counter. Actually there was really no counter, the register was placed on some kitchen storage type of table. I was surprised they even had a credit card machine… Aside from the specials, their menu is pretty pricey… I cannot get pass the ambiance and the vibe at this restaurant, SO we will NOT be back.

You know when people are standing outside restaurants with fliers and they’re telling you how great the food is? Usually, I ignore them by and go somewhere else. However, when we passed by Galaxy Steak House, there was a «tourist» who said he ate there yesterday and gave a high recommendation to the ambience and food. We were hungry, so we decided to try it out. Galaxy Steak House is upstairs and once you enter, it doesn’t look like a restaurant at all. It looks more like an office building with random tables and chairs. There’s an information table in the far right that is meant for people to discuss tours. Also on the right is a projector screen showing tons of the«fun» things to do in Hawaii. I ordered the Prime Rib steak with fries and mixed vegetables. When I think of mixed vegetables, I think carrots, broccoli, squash — things like that. Their mixed veggies were celery, onions, and carrots. The steak was okay, but I’ve had better. All in all, it was a more expensive version of Denny’s, but I might actually prefer Denny’s over Galaxy. They had cheap deals for breakfast but after our dinner at Galaxy, we didn’t really want to go back and try anything else. I would not recommend it for dinner at all, but I heard the breakfast isn’t bad.
