The sushi is good especially the shrimp wrap. The udon noodle soup is not too great. The green pea bean is not very fresh. The price is decent I would said is a little cheaper than genki. I prefer Genki sushi than G-Sushi.

I don’t know if I’m just spoiled by other sushi restaurants but I cannot say that this is the first place I’d suggest for a quick sushi fix. I came here with my boyfriend for a quick lunch before we went to school. Our first place was closed and since we were in the area… why not eat here. We came here before and it was alright. It was about one in the afternoon and they weren’t crowded, maybe about 6 other guests. We sat down and ordered our food. I got salmon and their sake and onion salmon. The boyfriend got their special that came with ebi, maguro, and some other pieces I forgot. Anywho, when my salmon came… I had to force myself to eat it. I’m not sure if they just forgot how to cut it or what but the pieces looked really big(which is good, i love big pieces) but it looked like it was cut with a serrated knife. When you eat it, it felt really, how do I explain it, creamy? It just had a weird texture where i had to double the amount of wasabi I had just to distract myself. Of course, I tell my bf, and he thinks I’m just spoiled because we go to other sushi places that have really nice pieces. But after seeing me look so miserable eating my salmon,(let me remind you, I NEVER look sad to eat sushi, so that was a big cue) he finally tried a piece. In your face! He understood what I meant. I think the only thing i did like was their mini musubi sushi. but other than that. I’ll make the extra 5 minute drive to genki or kuru kuru and spend the extra 15 minutes waiting for a table. The server was nice however, don’t get me wrong, but I just cant go to a place where only the service was great and the food. not so much.

Staff in back speaking Mandarin. In theory, I don’t mind Japanese food made by Chinese folks, but given that there are so many good & authentic Japanese restaurants in town, you could(and should) do much better than this. Wanted Gina’s Korean BBQ for lunch but kitchen closed this week for remodeling. Opted for G-Sushi based on «Spicy Tuna Lover» set on menu posted in window. Got spicy tuna poke like 5 different ways, none of them good. Core problem was the spicy tuna itself: it just wasn’t flavorful or fresh — basically looked and tasted like a giant vat had been whipped up a few days ago, and this was scraped out of the tub. The only taste I could really discern was some semblance of hot. Let me put it this way: I was ravenous after playing 4 hours of vigorous tennis over the past 2 days, and I couldn’t even finish my modest portions. I was not satieted; no, quite the contrary: it just made me lose my appetite. No idea what the«G» stands for, but I’m thinking maybe«Gross,» «Gag,» or perhaps«Godawful.» All of the above?

Randomly came here when we felt like eating lunch. I remembered my friend telling me about this restaurant because of their floating boat. It was actually interesting at first, but I was just like meh. The first impression when we went in was… there was nobody there to seat us. For a long time we stood there and even looked at the menu, there was still no one. There were other customers waiting too. So we finally get a table. Service wasn’t that good maybe because she was the only waitress in the place. Depending what you order, the first was alright. The deep fried sushi is a must try because it’s pretty good. There were certain food they put mayo sauce which I didn’t like. It was definitely filling since my FRIENDS order too much like always! The price was alright, I mean certain things were expensive and some were cheap, it just depends I guess.

I read a review somewhere below where when they went in, the place was empty. Well, that’s exactly what happened to us. Like there was a few people eating, but no one was at the front to greet us or anything. We waited there for about 5 minutes and then left to go to an ATM. When we came back, this girl who looked younger than us was at the front so she seated us. Still, kinda strange how no one was there earlier(knocks off a star). My friends really liked the floating sushi boats(eh I could care less about them lol). Did it really matter what the sushi was on, I just wanna eat ya know. Anyway, I told them to see if the water was cold and when my friend stuck her hand in there, she said it was warm. So yeah, is that why we ordered mostly from the menu? We were too early for the early bird special apparently it started at 4, um okay whatever. We all decided to order family style and share everything. We got the chi chi mochi, sweet potato croquette, tempura boat(shrimp, string beans, eggplant), dim sum trio(spring rolls, gyoza, shu mai), spicy tuna lovers(spicy tuna, tuna gunkan, tuna temaki, tuna cake), and some other fried sushi stuff. I also got the ahi poke sushi for myself, which I really liked. Wish we didn’t order so much fried/oily stuff, but nonetheless it was all very delicious to me. My favorites were the spring rolls and spicy tuna. It wasn’t really spicy compared to other sushi places like Aloha Sushi. This place is a cheaper alternative to Kuru Kuru hehh. They also provide free green tea if you ask. I felt full after eating, and even had room for more but my friends were totally stuffed so we didn’t get anything else after that :(So sad. Our total was like $ 45 for 3 people so that wasn’t thattt bad. I would come back to try the Diamond Roll. I would have given this 2 stars for the bad service in the beginning(do they only have 1 person working on a Monday afternoon??), but because the sushi was good, gave em 3: p

Yes, floating sushi is really cute! And spicy ahi is super tasty! The donburi was a great deal… the fresh cucumber slices are a perfect complement to the slightly spicy ahi… Everything was very fresh and enjoyable. Vegetable tempura was also great, with green beans, sweet potato, carrots… And the peanut butter mochi was also really awesome… I had never tasted PB mochi that I liked before, so that was a wonderful surprise! Thanks to my friend Dave for recommending G-Sushi! Since I love their spicy ahi, the place must have been named for me – G! lol

I am pretty impress with this place at first i thought it was gonna be pretty bad because of the design of the place looks pretty run down. However the food is pretty cheap, fresh and good service I recommend going to their happy hour time(M-F 4 to 6:30pm I believed) where you can order 5 different type of sushi for $ 7 which is pretty good deal~ Only thing is their condiment smells kinnda weird and also their water glass too ! Other than that i was pretty satisfied and what else they have plenty of parking !!

Best sushi place i have been yet. Friendly, attentive, & helpful staff. Great service. Kind of small area so try and go early so you get a seat. Went around 3ish and had two other groups of people in there so we sat right away. Best way is to order from menu versus whats offered on the boats that circle around you. If you remember catch of the day sushi, its kind of the same with the boat going around on the belt. Ordered spicy tuna which i love by the way. Fish was super fresh and awesome good. Ordered the don style over hot rice. all i can say is winnahz!!! BF had the shrimp katsu don over hot rice that was winnahz as well. We ordered the smaller plat options also like the hotdog, egg, dragon roll all winnahz.

Fresh sushi sailing around on cute little boats in water… Why is this place do underrated?! I absolutely love it here. Dare I say, they are better than Genki. Everything is pretty much under 5 bucks, huge selection of menu items, definitely fresh, and service is super attentive & quick. But for some reason, it’s never really busy… Oh well… More for me. Winning!

Oh G-Sushi, the source of my salmon happiness. :) G-Sushi has one of the best salmon sushi of all the«rotating» sushi restaurants I’ve been to in Hawaii. I go here so much that the owner would know what orders I would put in. I love, love, LOOOOOOOVEE their spicy tuna. the spicy tuna here is way better than what you can get at kuru kuru. Their salmon here are better than genki sushi too. Overall, the price and quality of G-Sushi deserves two thumbs up! Btw– happy hour promotion around 4−5pm where you can choose 5 very delicious items on the menu for $ 5.99!!! ANDTHISINCLUDESTHESPICYTUNA! =D For music, they play either top 40’s or light rock.

When I walked into G-Sushi on Saturday at NOON. The day in the week where there’s no school, no work(for most people) and the day people eat out the most(I read it somewhere recently).the place was EMPTY. There was no one there. This is always a bad sign. Especially at a sushi place. Its basically telling everyone that the fish rotating around is not fresh. Nonetheless, we were there and I wanted sushi so we went in. Instead of a conveyer belt the sushi dishes are on boats that float in the water. The sushi looked like it had been sitting out for a while, since it probably was. The water wasn’t cold like it should be if that’s the way its keeping the fish fresh.(Yes, I put my finger in the water) I was scared that I would get sick from the sushi that had been sitting out so my bf and I ordered off the menu. Scallop mayo — decent Seared spicy tuna cake — I thought it would be a little warm since it had been seared but it was cold and the spicy tuna had that Korean spicy sauce mixed in it — not good Salmon — okay Fried Scallops — way too oily.(Probably don’t change their oil often) Dragon roll — 2 pieces/plate — decent I didn’t come super hungry but after eating just a little I was not impressed and thought ending the lunch with Waiola’s shave ice might be a better bet than eating more sushi. The service was terrible too. You would think that since it was only us in the place, she would at least be a little attentive but after serving us our first dishes, the woman went to the kitchen for like 30 minutes…(also why we didn’t order anything else) Maybe nighttime is a better time to go because of their deal but I think it’ll be a while till I return to G-Sushi. I’m always down for good sushi, especially kaiten-sushi, but sometimes I don’t really feel like standing or waiting in line just to fulfill a craving(i.e. Kuru Kuru). G Sushi has always been a go-to spot because there’s almost always no wait time, service is quick and friendly, and they have a variety of menu offerings to choose from. So what to order? My favorites include the spicy tuna cake(seared or unseared) topped with furikake flakes and special sauce, seared maguro, tunari(tuna salad and rice stuffed in inari), hamachi nigiri and the Captain Cook Platter(all things fried). You can probably share the Captain Cook Platter since you get double servings of fried spicy tuna, fish katsu sushi, fried shrimp sushi and fried scallop sushi. Not the healthiest thing on the menu but it’s worth trying! G-Sushi doesn’t have as many offerings as other kaiten sushi places on the island, but it’s enough to satisfy. Sometimes I’ll just get two orders of the spicy tuna cake and I’m good… at least for another week when another craving hits.

Tried G-sushi a long time ago, and because of the price and the food wasn’t as fresh we didn’t go back for a while until we bought the hotdeals coupon. After trying it again, although we went there for a late dinner, the sushi was fresh and I really like the different selections they offered. Sushi — 4 stars — A little pricier than Genki or Kurukuru, but rotating on cute little boats the sushi on the plates are also covered so it stays fresh and there’s no doubt if someone coughed on it, it would not get contaminated like the ones on the ones openly on the conveyor belt at other restaurants. They have an assortment of sushi and desserts that’s different than Genki or Kurkuru. They also have a kid’s boat which includes a drink and shaved ice and several other assortment of bentos or bowls and chinese dim sum that we could choose from in addition to the sushi on the boats. The yakitori chicken and teri beef, though were a bit salty, and the chawan mushi had more of an egg flavor with alfalfa sprouts. Service — 5 stars — The male waiter was very attentive, friendly and personable. The waitress, however, was ok, but forgot our request. Our waters were constantly filled. We also weren’t finished close to closing time, but they were patient and let us take our time. Over all, especially with the hotdeals coupon, it was worth the price, however, I forgot about the customer frequent card and forgot to stamp my card. Parking is a little tight and dark, but with a bit of a wait, people come and go.

I prefer to come here over Genki because their Spicy Tuna choices are more plenty then Genki. Prices are cheaper than Genki too. I normally do damage on the cheaper yellow plates. Somethings to try are the spicy Tuna lovers plate. Service an use a little work though, but makes up for how cheap the food is.

This place totally blows Genki Sushi out of the water! :D The sushi comes to you on little boats that are gliding on water. I highly recommend their salmon skin roll and chekka bomb. I have eaten practically almost everything here and I have to say that everything is pretty bomb diggity! I am a huge miso soup lover and this place definitely has good miso soup compared to Genki Sushi. The staff here is really nice and always comes to you to take orders if you do not see anything on the boats. Every time that I come here I always spend about $ 20 – 30. I feel so content after I eat here for dinner, it is like I am floating on cloud 9. Took loads of photos at this place for everyone to see! Go check them out! :)

Oh G-Sushi, how I love thee! Let me count the ways! Well actually just ONE way really for me! Hah! I’ve never really been a fan of Sushi Bars. Even when this place was formally Catch of the Day, I visited it a few times. All of a sudden I discover this place four years ago the place has changed hands and when I arrived they only recommended ONEDISH… ONEDISH(a platter set actually) to rule um all! REALLYREALLYREALLY, HOLYCOWDO I REALLY, LOVE: The Spicy Tuna Ahi Lovers Set!!! BAM!!! I dunno what it was four years ago that they did with their Spicy Tuna, but it has just SOMETHING that makes you go MMMMmmmmmmm!!! If you are anything into Spicy Ahi Tuna sushi, this is the place to be! Genki’s? BAH! Kuru-Kuru? Psssh! Smokes them all! And for a good price too! I can honestly say that I have converted at least half a dozen people to this place alone with this set, seriously! I’ve dabbled in the other sushi on the«floating boats» here and there while waiting for my ono-licious set to arrive fresh at my table. And honestly, its the usual fare, which is to be expected. At least the price is very reasonable! They also have an early bird special where you can choose 5 items for $ 6 and change. Wait staff are friendly enough and stop by frequently to refill my water when it gets low. It’s not outstanding in-your-face friendly, but just enough to leave me to my tuna and take an order when I need it. So again, this review of 5 stars goes to the most OUTSTANDING sushi set on the planet! Other people’s stars can go elsewhere but mine goes to the SPICYTUNALOVERSSET! MMMMhhmmmmm good! Mahalo G-Sushi!

My husband adores it here and we come at least twice a month on a whim. It’s definitely an inexpensive and healthy way of making him happy when he’s hungry. I tag along for a quick snack. We’ve been here so many times, but still enjoy their fresh selection of fish. The waitresses know us by now, so they’ve always been friendly and attentive with our orders. Free stuff: We continue to use our stamp cards to get our discount since we frequent this place so often. Their piping hot green tea is always free with any meal. They have a happy hour special that offers a slight discount on weekdays if you visit is from 4– 6p.m. ? Aloha and enjoy a place that will not break the bank.
