I graduated from Sacred Hearts Academy — just down the road from this shack. I’m not afraid to admit that there was a time where I’d walk up the street just for a poke bowl from Fresh Catch! Unlike most poke stops, Fresh Catch gives you the option of choosing the amount of rice AND poke you would like in your bowl. I usually opt for one scoop of rice with two scoops of spicy salmon(~$ 9). The only downside: this isn’t your cheapest poke, but it’s flavorful. On the other hand, the plate lunches are quite generous in portion size. My sister and I tried the garlic salmon, a grilled slab of salmon resting on lettuce leaves with scoops of rice. Just like their fresh poke, we loved it! Overall, Fresh Catch is great for groups. Parking is limited and quite tight, but it’s worth the travel if you’re looking for quality poke, local atmosphere, and great service. I would definitely make a stop if I’m ever back on Waialae Ave!

I can’t believe I waited so long to try Fresh Catch! I was craving fresh fish and poke yesterday, so off to Kaimuki we went. Choices, choices, choices. Luckily, I had read several Unilocal reviews beforehand so I knew what to order: ***Ahi Katsu — Very generous portion size. This dish is served on a bed of greens, with two scoops of rice(brown rice is available), furikake and a delicious sauce. Loved it! The batter was crunchy and tasty, and I liked that it was fish instead of chicken. I don’t often order fried foods but I would definitely order this again. **Fresh Poke Bowl — We ordered two types of poke(limu and spicy ahi) over brown rice. Fish was fresh with a little bit of spice. The portion for me was perfect. Comparable to poke bowls elsewhere but would this one would be on my top five list. **Poke Fried Rice — I had a few bites of this dish. My boyfriend devoured it so it must’ve been good! I liked the idea of having fish in fried rice… I thought I was something different. **Dorito Salad — Lettuce with small pieces of Doritos and a sprinkle of cheese. My friend raved about this so I had to order it. I thought it was okay… The dressing was too sweet for me. The restaurant itself is small with picnic-style tables that can be shared. It was a little hectic and loud yesterday and I thought the ordering process was a bit confusing and rushed. Advice: know what to order… there’s no time for questions. It was an overall great dining experience. We walked out with satisfied stomachs and excitement to return!!!

Great poke selection and daily specials especially their salmon belly and ahi katsu. Friendly service even when busy and they let you sample their poke. Great local spot that hits the spot!

I’ve heard so much good things about Fresh Catch Hawaii, especially their dressings. My husband specifically buys bottles of their salad dressing for when we want our tastes of the greens at home. The other one(sorry i forgot the name) is so good with edamame. Everyone liked it when we served it at the last family gathering we had which was only this Easter. Everybody, and i mean everybody, said it was excellent. So i have high expectations when my husband brought me here at the place itself. But it didnt disappoint me. We ordered the garlic chicken. Ono! We were extra happy because the serving was so big! Lots of the delicious chicken. We are surely going to come back for more because there’s a whole lot of selection we have yet to try.

A must visit stop when you come to O’ahu! It’s a casual market stop but serves the freshest and the finest meal you will have in any 5 star restuarant you walk into. It’s been almost a month and I still dream of the Poke I had at this place. I may travel back to Hawaii just to go to this place again. This was our favorite meal on our trip! My husband and I stopped here on our last day on the island and we lament over not trying this place sooner. We would surely have made more than 1 stop! STOPHESITATINGGOOO!!!

When you walk in there is a huge poke assortment. There were two people behind the counter taking orders. Luckily the person in front of me got a poke bowl because that’s what I wanted and didn’t see it in the menu. There are a bunch of pictures of plates up in the wall but I had a hard time seeing them. Because I love poke and even though there were a variety of choices I had to try the poke bowl. With a name like fresh catch, that’s what I wanted. I got half of the fireball spicy ahi and half of the salmon poke. The fireball spicy ahi wasn’t too spicy. It was pretty good, but the fish was a little dense like it was a little too cold. It might have been previously frozen. The salmon poke was not what I was expecting but I did like it. The only downfall was that it was too sweet. It was a teriyaki sauce that it was in and the sauce was just too sweet for me. There are picnic style tables if you’re dining in.

Place is super busy. Parking lot is waaaay small off of a busy busy street. Food is good and service is fast but because the place is busy the interaction is at a minimum. If you’re the type of person who likes to have things explained to you, require extra attention or be coddled, probably not the best idea to come here. ITIS though, a Great spot for a quick bite and amazing poke. Minus the headache for parking.

With all the new poke places that have killer fresh fish and local goodness to tantalize your tongue, sometimes we forget about some of the old school go to spots. Fresh Catch is one of those joints! Delicious fresh & local poke in numerous varieties, plate lunch style menu options and for the non seafood eaters, some local favorites like pastele stew or garlic chicken. One of my favorite things about getting poke here is that I feel like you get a solid amount for a decent price. They start off asking how many scoops rice you want [brown available as well] and scoop it into the styrofoam rectangle. They use normal take out containers for poke bowls and allow you to pick how many scoops of whatever varieties you want and use the scale to price it out. I love not being limited to one type and I like that I can get more or less depending how I’m feeling that day. My two favorites to order are the spicy shoyu ahi and the pipikaula smoked meat. It seems like I get more for my buck than most poke bowls. There’s plenty more poke choices, more than I see in a lot of other places. The plates are huge and cooked to order — my boyfriend recently got seared ahi that was cooked perfectly and was almost too pretty to eat. ALMOST. The staff are super friendly and they have a good ordering system between poke and plates to keep people moving. Seating is limited but there are a few picnics benches you can share family style with others. This place has been featured on Food Networks Diners, Drive Inns & Dives so gotta give props for that. Its been awhile but now that I’ve reunited with Fresh Catch, I’m remembering how much I enjoyed it and will need to start hitting them up more often.

This place offers some of the freshest poke that I’ve found on the island! What’s more is that they have other specials as well. Notable selections include the ahi belly and the beef stew. Come early if you’re going around lunchtime, as you’ll be elbowing your way to the front to score some poke. Service is fast and efficient, and this local spot is really a nice place to grab a casual, Hawaiian-style bite,

What do you do when you have an extended break??? You drive all the to Waialae to thank the person who gave you the break! My instructor has been raving about her poke cravings. So my classmates decided we should get her some poke to thank her! OK… so it sounded like a great excuse to drive far for lunch, at the time. We really were just craving it ourselves. I have never heard of it, and I can’t turn down a new place to try. I just can’t! They have a parking lot, but looks like it can get full quick. Luckily we came before any crowds. We walked in and immediately you smell that lovely poke smell. I was able to try a bunch of poke before I made my choice of garlic ahi. They have a lot to choose from. Besides the poke, there was also lunch platea, weekly specials and even pastele stew. The staff was really awesome. They were so patient with me wanting to try everything. Taste wise, they had bigger cuts of poke. The poke was featured in diners, dives and drive inns for being fresh. I tried about 7 different poke styles before I was able to make a decision. There wasn’t so much onions drowning the poke, it tasted fresh and if it was spicy… you better believed it way spicy! The price was about the same from other places, maybe even cheaper. My poke bowl with brown rice was only $ 5.75. Overall, I can’t wait to go back and try more menu items. It was overwhelming to have so many choices. As a result, I really did get some spicy ahi poke for my instructor. She loved it and asked where she could get more.

This place is like a fresh fish market. They sell poke by the pound here, and you can get it served with rice. We tried their spicy salmon, spicy coconut and spicy shoyu. My favorite was the spicy coconut! It was amazing and so different. It tasted like a spicy coconut curry. Their other poke were all really good as well. I liked the wide variety of options for poke here. We also tried the ahi katsu and the Hawaiian plate. The ahi katsu tasted like chicken katsu but lighter. If you get anything, I highly recommend the spicy coconut poke.

Fresh catch is deliciously local. The best place to have poke. Many different selections of poke, and daily specials. My favorite was the Spicy Hawaiian and the Smoked Tako with 2 scopes of white rice. Inside the restaurant, they have 4 large benches. On this Sunday morning, around 10am, there was no one. The lady serving food was super nice. She gave us samples of different pokes to try. They had a nice scallop poke which was so delicious and fresh. Lots of parking as well.

This is one of my favorite places to grab lunch if I’m in the mood for seafood. The poke is fresh and there’s a variety that you can choose from. My favorite has to be the fireball and the spicy shoyu. If you’re not in the mood for poke, you can pick up a plate lunch or a sandwich. My bf loves the seared furikake ahi. It’s similar to the one sold at Nicos but with a different sauce. I usually opt for the pastele stew or a special. I’m all about trying new things and my favorite special had to be their opakapaka in coconut sauce. So damn good. It can be hard to find a stall here since there is a recycling center that shares the same lot as the restaurant. However, a lot of people grab food from Fresh Catch so a stall usually opens up quite fast. If you’re into recycling, recycle your recyclables at this location. I was told by my bf that if you recycle your recyclables at their location you can get a discount on your meal. Save the planet and then save a few cents on your meal? Talk about winnahhhhs!!!

This place is a legit seafood joint! It was so good we came back the next day to try more stuff.(But got a poke bowl again, of course!) We had the shoyu ahi poke, salmon poke, and the crab sandwich. I could eat a poke bowl from Fresh Catch errday and be happy. So fresh, flavorful, and damn good. I’m glad they let you sample so you can decide what you want to order, although I dunno if it makes the decision easier or more difficult. The crab sandwich was the best I’ve ever had. Instead of dousing it with mayo and other nonsense, they keep it light and simple and don’t overpower the crab with other flavors. The bread is soft, warm and heaped full of crab! It’s filling but not heavy. The next day we also tried the ahi katsu and furikake fries. Both were crispy and delicious, but our favorite is still the poke. Go early bc everything tastes fresher plus at night they are sold out of a lot of stuff. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Some of the food you pay by weight(like the poke). Credit card accepted.
