Man… I randomly hit this place up while in my recent travels on Oahu. I had to say the Local Bowl was pretty spectacular… from the pork to the poke to the limo or whatever that stuff was. doesn’t really matter cuz it was scrumptious and it hit the spot. I’d definitely recommend someone go here if they are ever downtown. Pretty decently priced too for a large bowl. They give you a side of miso soup as well. So no complaints here, its all good in that part of the hood.

As a usual indecisive person, deciding where to go to lunch is always hard. Fresh Ahi off the Boat was a less than 2 minute walk from work(so convenient!!) so I decided to give it a try. It was very easy to find and seemed to have a lot of parking available at 12:05pm when I went there. The place looked very clean as I went inside and it was a nice atmosphere as well. The girl at the counter was very friendly and took my order quickly. I ordered an Medium Ahi Poke Bowl w/white rice and it totaled only $ 9.50! The taste is great! Good quality Ahi with onions, green onions, and sesame seeds and shoyu, and bok choy and ginger in the bowl as well. A little bowl of miso soup came free(yay!) with my poke bowl which is good because I love miso soup. With its convenient location to my workplace, I’ll definitely be returning!

My son and I were looking to grab a bite to eat the other day and we decided to try Fresh Ahi Off The Boat. We pulled-up and their«Open» sign wasn’t illuminated, but my son walked-up and they apologized, since they had just opened a few minutes earlier. You get to pick from 4 different types of rice(white, sushi, brown and black). Since we had never been here before, we had a couple of questions. We took a few moments to review the menu board, which was filled with a lot of awesome options. We finally decided on two very onoliscious bowls. I ordered the Sashimi Bowl, which contained 6 pieces of Maguro and 7 pieces of Salmon over a bed of white rice. Both the Salmon and Maguro were very fresh and amazing. My son ordered the Spicy Ahi Bowl, which contained two scoops of Spicy Ahi over white rice. The Spicy Ahi was tasty and had the right amount of heat to it. Both bowls came with Miso Soup, which was a nice touch. I really thought the fish was fresh and the customer service was really good. I like the décor inside and felt it provided a very fresh look and feel to the restaurant. Just another solid Poke place in Honolulu. I’ll have to add this to my list of fave’s. I’ll definitely be back upon another trip to Honolulu.

Fresh Ahi Off the Boat was the last poke place I had before leaving Hawaii; so, it was a bit bittersweet, though it certainly didn’t disappoint(thankfully). I wanted to have both the Spicy Ahi and the Ahi Poke(shoyu presumably) in my bowl, but in order to do that, you do have to purchase the large-size bowl to get half and half. However, their large size actually didn’t end up being very big. I would consider it an average portion at most other places. The Spicy Ahi is the consistency of the tuna in a spicy tuna roll(essentially smashed and blended into a paste). I thought it was still pretty good, just a bit different than cubed poke pieces. I’ve noticed some reviewers claiming the Spicy Ahi is really spicy. It is spicy, IF you eat a lot of it in one bite. I ate a little at a time with a bit a rice, so that it muted the spiciness. Just a tip. The Ahi Poke was seasoned well and seemed reasonably fresh. The bowl does come with some veggies, which I discerned to be watercress(from taste and texture), though I can’t be 100% sure. They were served cold, but it was still yummy. The bowl does come with free miso soup, which was a nice surprise. It was your average miso soup. Fresh Ahi Off the Boat would be a good place to hit up for a quick lunch, either for takeout or dining in. Overall: 4⁄5 Food: 4⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Atmosphere: 4⁄5

Walked around while I was waiting for my tint to be done on my car. Came across this little shop and it looked like a nice little clean place. So I gave it a try. I got the local bowl. Kalua pork, lomi salmon and spicy ahi. Came with a bowl of miso soup. It was good and tasted fresh! Only downside is the bowl is on the small side. And the scoop of poke is small. No chunks of ahi either, it’s really fine like tuna consistency. I wouldn’t mind going back if I’m walking around again.

I love ahi poke! especially spicy ahi that’s why I’m always in search of good poke places. I’ve come across this place while Unilocaling for ono spicy ahi bowls. I must say, this place didn’t disappoint! It’s one of the hole in a wall & parking is pretty easy as you can also find street parking along Keeaumoku. Friendly staff, quick service, delicious & affordable food! what else can you ask for?! I ordered the spicy ahi tsunami bowl & my boyfriend ordered the local bowl with spicy ahi. We also ordered gyoza on the side. Fish is fresh & presentation was good. We paid just a little over $ 20! We both enjoyed everything we ordered & we’re definitely going back again!

«Fresh off da boat!» I can’t help but try to sing the intro song to the TV series every time I come here for lunch. Tucked away off of Keeaumoku, you’ll find Fresh Ahi Off the Boat. Parking can be tight at times, but there is often street parking also available. I typically call my order in(since I have office orders) and they always have it ready in the 10 minutes they ask for. It is usually pretty crowded during the lunch rush. They have a reward system that is based on how much you spend. You can download the app to keep track of your points. Everything here is delicious! I have no complaints for the food as the fish is always fresh and I’ve never had any stringy pieces of ahi(which I really do not enjoy). The seasoning is always spot on and consistent. Their spicy ahi and salmon are both delicious which is a complement considering I’m not a huge salmon fan as I find it fishy at times. I love their tsunami bowl but honestly everything I’ve had is good. Review # 5 of 1002016

I read all the great reviews and I was excited to try this place. Parking can be tricky sometimes as the parking lot is shared by many businesses there. Once I entered I noticed how clean and modern everything is. I ordered their Ahi bowl and some rolls. After I ordered I looked around and noticed some Korean posters and on their menu one of Korean’s favorite raw fish menu. That’s when I wondered … Could this be a Korean owned place? I ordered my food to go as we just wanted to rest after a long day at the beach. Once I opened my boxes I noticed that they add Korean side dishes(sautéed spinach and the seasoning is very traditional Korean). Not bad although I was kinda hoping that the Ahi won’t be seasoned too Korean but it was. It almost reminded me of Hwae Dub Bab(which is the Korean version of Ahi poke with rice). Lots of soy sauce and sesame oil! Also the rolls had a Korean seasoning twist! Im not saying that it didn’t taste good… It just has a Korean twist instead of the traditional Japanese flavor. Their dishes is fresh and very tasty and you can customize your bowls which is a big plus as well. It’s worth trying it out and try all different kind of Ahi bowls. ;-)

Fresh Ahi Off The Boat is located on Keeaumoku where the old Cooland used to be. There is a parking lot that circles around or you might get lucky with street parking on Keeaumoku. The Grub. [[ LOCALBOWL $ 9.50 ]] This bowl is loaded with lomi salmon, kalua pig, and shoyu poke. This bowl was alright, wasn’t too impressed. [[ HURRICANEBOWL $ 10.75 ]] This bowl is had Ahi, salmon, purple onions, watercress, cucumber, carrots, radish sprout, masago, nori flakes, korean red sauce. This bowl was way to SPICY. I asked the cashier if it was spicy because of the korean red sauce. He told me no. He lied. I could hardly eat this bowl because it was so spicy. DONOTORDERIFYOUDON’T LIKESPICY. Overall I was extremely disappointed with my bowl. I don’t plan to come back any time soon. Forever traumatized: P

Ok I had to come to this place because I’m a huge fan of fresh off the boat but seriously the food here is off the hook. The poke is some of the freshest poke ever and they have edamame gyozas that are out of this world. Plus prices are great and the people are so nice. Must come here for sure.

I have one word for you: Tsunami. The ahi is fresh and good quality. The Tsumani is spicy with wonderful additions like slivers of fresh jalapeño. A winner. It is a bit more pricey than the usually spots, and the portions are smaller. This is yuppie poke.

Delicious! Beautiful! Fresh! Bonus: Free parking! This was my 2nd visit here and it was just as good as the first! Service is pleasant, polite, and helpful! Interior is clean, air conditioned, bright and appropriately decorated. About 20 people can sit together at the same time. During this second visit, I tried everything because no one was watching me eat! People are usually surprised that I can eat so much. .hahaha! The first time, I dined here with Eric Robert, Traci R., and Jules. Both experiences were great because of the food and reasonable prices! I had Bento B6 and an Ahi Poke Bowl to go — yum! I had to control myself and hold back! Hee hee! This time, I gobbled down the irura hand roll — mmm — and took a few bites of the unagi roll before I took the rest of my order home. The Crab salad was crisp and tasty and the Seared Salmon was so ono! I’m looking forward to the next time I’m in Honolulu so I can have another meal here! Or I’ll order take out and enjoy in secret! LOL!

Fresh fish poke bowls! This place is so awesome! Highly would recommend it! My friend is a usual and insisted I try this place, she raved about how fresh and delicious their poke bowls are… and I have to agree!

After trying this restaurant’s poke bowls, this has been the best place that serves different choices of poke bowls as well as choices of rice(white, sushi, brown or black) that comes with it: Tsunami poke bowl — 5 stars — for $ 10.75, I love this bowl because of the variety of vegetables, tobiko topped on the sweet shoyu marinated poke to make it a delicious meal. I love the black rice which no other restaurant serves. Comes with miso soup and tax already included, which makes it very reasonable. Local bowl — 4 stars — for $ 10, another unique poke bowl with kalua pig which is moist and flavorful, complimenting the poke. However, the lomi salmon isn’t the usual that I prefer. A very filling and satisfying bowl, especially with miso soup. Service is fast and owner and staff are very friendly, even when very busy. Lots of parking, but sometimes full.

This is not the kind of place I’m inclined to like — small street side storefront in a divey strip mall with cold fluorescent lighting. Rough cut marinated fish passing as poke served in plastic take out. I only finally gave in and tried it because food pics other Unilocalers were posting looked so good. I walked in and the owner changed my attitude starting with his courteous greeting and patience. Then the food came. My Hurricane bowl with shoyu ahi and salmon poke was in a plastic bowl, for sure, but it was restaurant table service quality, with a small bowl of miso soup, a bottle of kochujang, and on a serving tray. With kaiware, shredded carrots and cucumber, sliced onions, watercress, leaf lettuce, kizami nori, and masago piled high this is NOT your average poke bowl meal! There wasn’t a humongous amount of poke but what’s there was tasty and seasoned well. I was torn between eating from top to bottom, or mixing everything up and adding the kochujang like a Korean sashimi bowl. The miso soup is nothing special but it is a nice warm ending to help fill your stomach. I’ve also tried the Tsunami bowl, shoyu ahi poke with spicy mayo and teri drizzled on, kaiware, red onion, cucumber, kizami nori, jalapeño slices, and tobiko, which is actually close to being a Korean Hwe Dup Bap. Honolulu Magazine says, «Try the tsunami bowl. Trust us.» The gyoza is really forgettable. Same with any nigiri. Stick with a sashimi bowl if you must have sliced raw fish. If you need variety, the chicken and beef are average bento quality. You won’t go wrong if you just come for the poke bowls.

I haven’t seen this place but then again I don’t live in town anymore! Directly across from HMSA center in Koreamuku. Parking is mostly available during the day and free, not hard to miss from the road! So what do you have to know about this place? It’s Korean owned, doesn’t make it any less good but definitely a different taste pallet! Comes with Korean veggies and Korean black rice as an option!(Which sold me btw!!) They have various bento options and poke bowl options with different sizes. All comes with miso soup too! How perfect to wash down your meal, yum! For some reason this establishment reminds me of the one in Kalihi area called Ahi & Vegetable, it has the same menu items and look, does anyone else know if it’s the same owners with different names? Well from my first and only order, hurricane bowl, it was delicious and fresh! Good mix of veggies and rice ratio, the poke was good too!(Slices of ahi and salmon). I do want to come back and try other bentos, plus for the price at $ 11.00 something a bowl, it’s not bad at all! So why the 4 stars? As good as this place gets, it won’t beat my favorite poke place! But for the variety of bentos and bowls, you gotta come try it!

After seeing quite a number of my fellow Unilocal friends checking into Fresh Ahi Off the Boat and reading their glorious reviews, I figured that I’d better get down there to see what the hype is all about. FAOB is located right on Keeaumoku Street across the HMSA building. It’s conveniently located for workers and residents in the area. There is usually a lot of street parking along Keeaumoku Street and it shares a parking lot with Asahi Grill. The restaurant is clean, air-conditioned and has a good number of seats. The menu board is clearly posted on the countertop and behind the order counter. Pictures of the various dishes adorn the walls and service is quick and efficient. Their menu consists of rice bowls(poke bowls), bentos, maki or roll sushi, salads and catering. It’s not a traditional sushi bar and doesn’t serve alcoholic beverages. They prepare your sushi in their kitchen located behind the curtains. I was hungry for sushi so I ordered the bento selection B-10 which consisted of 8 pieces of assorted sushi. There were 4 Nigiri(salmon, ahi tuna, unagi eel, and shrimp) and 4 Gunkan(spicy ahi, spicy salmon, Masago(smelt roe) and ikura(salmon roe)). It was served with a bowl of steaming hot miso soup which helped to prepare my taste buds for the fresh seafood sushi that I was about to dive into. The slices of fish were quite large, had a good soft-firm texture and tasted fresh and clean. I was a bit surprised that the consistency of the spicy ahi and spicy salmon was more finely minced fish like a type of tartare. But, the spiciness was on point as there was just enough of a chile-kick without overwhelming the fish. $ 14.50 My husband ordered the«Local Bowl». This rice bowl had a trio of Hawaiian flavors which I think would have been better with poi. Anyway, this bowl is popular because the toppings include lomi salmon, kalua pork and choice of shoyu-poke or spicy ahi. This bowl comes in one-size only but he found it flavorful, filling and satisfying. He was a little disappointed to find the spicy ahi texture to be more like tartare than in cubes. $ 9.50 We enjoyed our meals, felt that the dishes were priced appropriately and will return for more! #489

Great lunch spot near the Keeaumoku Supermarket. Had the Local Bowl here. There are rice options, so I ordered it with the black(Murasaki) rice. It came with kalua pig, poke, lomi salmon, and miso soup. I added an order of mandoo. I thought their lomi salmon was awesome(innovative.) In my experience, lomi salmon has always been tomato, onion, and salmon flakes. Their version was more like salmon poke, disguised to look like lomi salmon. Nice! Friendly staff. Clean & sleek. Will be back.

Fresh Ahi Off the Boat sure lives up to its name! I stopped by for the first time on Veteran’s Day with an awesome friend and rediscovered the greatness of black rice. I have not had black rice for a long time and it was so delicious. This combined with really fresh sashimi made for a enjoyable meal. My sashimi came out to $ 14 because of the market pricing, but I think it was worth it. Slices of tuna and salmon were laid out on a bed of black rice with Korean style choy sum and pickled Japanese style pink ginger. Miso soup was included which consisted of wakame seaweed and green onions along with the broth. I could not pass up the offer of green salad for only $ 1 more! Since it was a holiday, parking was very convenient close by on the street. There were also a few stalls open in the lot right in front. Their parking lot is shared with Asahi Grill. Service was friendly and they even checked up on us while we were dining. The way it works there is that you order at the counter and then they bring out the food to you. Water is self-serve. Restrooms require a key, which they provide, and is outside by Asahi Grill. After having such a good experience, I want to stop by again to try some other menu items. There is also a loyalty card available where you get a stamp with each entrée purchase(one stamp per visit). If you fill out the card, you get $ 10 to spend toward a free meal!

I had dinner here last night with the hubby and the food was beyond awesome. I had already eaten and wasn’t that hungry so we shared a poke bowl. We ordered a medium Poke Pop Pop bowl. It contained shoyu poke with teriyaki sauce, crispy pop pops, and thin nori strips. The sauce used in this bowl was winners. The fish was fresh and of good quality. The bowl came with a side of miso soup. For $ 1 more, we added a green salad. The side of salad was bigger than I expected. The peanut sauce dressing that came with the salad was killer. They leave the whole squeeze bottle at your table and you can use as much as you want. I wanted to take the bottle home. It was that good. I asked about the dressing and it was home made and a secret recipe, bummers, lol. We also ordered two pieces of their vegetarian, edamame gyoza. It was green and we weren’t sure if we were going to like it. I’d never seen anything like it before. We ended up loving it. It was fried crispy on the outside. Inside was a mix of edamame and some ground up white stuff, that I couldn’t figure out. If you come here, don’t forget to ask for your stamp card. Also, the prices have gone up $ 1 or $ 2, depending on what you get. They have a sign saying that for the rest of this year, the prices on the sashimi and poke will fluctuate due to the prices that they are paying.
