Absolutely love this place! I used to go HCC so since there werent a lot of choice to eat over there I would walk to Blvd Snacks(across from HCC) to grab some sushi. After my first time there I couldn’t stop coming back, even after I left HCC I would still find myself continuously going there to eat. They made a few changes but Before it was just a really small shop and just kind of recently they extended it so there are more tables to sit down and eat. The workers are always so nice and friendly which makes it even better having that kind of service. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu but my favorite is the Benny Spicy Ahi Bowl(Spicy Ahi, rice, avocado, cucumber, imitation crab, tobiko, and shredded nori on top) I recommend you all try it out.

Their sushi here is great, and it’s so fresh. I’ve worked here as a cashier over the summer and I’ve seen how she makes her sushi. She always uses fresh ahi, and she tries to blot the oil on the fried food so it won’t be as oily. She puts in a lot of work in making her food. She doesn’t charge tax when you use cash, so if you want your food a little cheaper, I’d go with cash. It’s usually not as busy in the morning, but it gets kinda busy during lunch. I’m not just giving this place a good review because I used to work here, I was a customer before I worked here and it was just good service in all. Lina and her husband are just really nice people, and their food here is great. I suggest the kiss of fire, and her shrimp balls it’s really ono.

Went here today with a few friends for lunch. I ordered the shoyu ramen and the shrimp balls. The prices are also reasonable. Also the people working there are really nice. When we sat down waiting for our food to be made, we ended up getting our food delivered to us. That’s great service! We thought we had to pick it up from the counter, but instead it was delivered. The food was really good as well. I’m definitely coming here again :)

I Work a little down the road so I come here pretty regularly with my coworkers for lunch. Don’t let the outward appearance and other stores around it fool you, this mom and pop shop definitely delivers. I usually get one of the hand rolls. The spicy crab and spicy ahi are my favorites. Maybe because they’re not afraid to make them pretty spicy. They use imitation crab, but for $ 1.75, its not a bad deal. If you get the non-spicy one, its only $ 1. The spicy ahi roll is a bit more on the pricy side at $ 3.50, but it tastes pretty fresh and definitely better than a 7 – 11 hand roll. Hand rolls range from $ 1 to $ 4, which isn’t a bad deal for the quality they offer. They also offer standard sushi rolls(the kiss of fire or spider roll are my favorites) and some rice bowls all for around $ 10 All sushi on their menu is made to order, so expect maybe a 5 minute wait with your order. Parking is located just to the left in the small lot and is shared with the other businesses nearby. Overall, a great place to grab lunch for around $ 10. Would highly recommend it for anyone in the area(especially HCC students) looking for a quick bite.

1. Location & Parking This store is a hidden gem. Located right across the street from HCC. There’s a small parking lot. Entrance is on Dillingham Blvd. 2. Service I came here on a Saturday at the lunch hour and it wasn’t busy at all. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a nice Korean lady. She took my order and it was ready in about 5 mins. 3. Interior There is a very small dining area that can fit about 15 people max. The tables are small hence why the chairs are situated in a staggered fashion. It was a little weird not having my friend sit right across from me. There’s also a TV. At the time I went, I was watching a football game. 4. Food Kiss of fire($ 9.95) — A california roll with shrimp tempura inside. Topped off with spicy ahi. The spicy ahi was spicier than your average spicy ahi and tasted fresh. The shrimp tempura was nice and crispy and wasn’t oily at all. 5. Overall Don’t be fooled by the outside appearance(it looks like an old convenience store). This store actually sells decent tasting sushi. Although it’s on the pricier side, you can definitely taste the quality in the ingredients as compared to other cheap cheap sushi spots.

A mom and pops sushi store right across from my campus, so convenient to satisfy my sushi cravings after food and nutrition class = eating healthy is a must. Although I may say, costco and the coffee hub or the bookstore sounds like a cheaper choice my food and nutrition course thinks not. I always come into this place and leave happy. Favorites: spicy ahi bowl, allll the makis, and the benny spicy ahi bowl with EXTRA avocado. I love anything spicy poke, spicy mayo so this little place really wins my heart. Anything spicy poke, count me IN.

I _really_like this place. The quality of the food is top notch, the portions are generous and the couple who owns it are very kind. I frequent this shop at least twice a week. I am a customer for life.

+ Decent food quality + New dining area + Convenient especially for HCC students + They open early(sometimes just before 7am) — Staff isn’t rude, but they aren’t customer friendly — Overpriced I’ve been to Blvd Snacks a number of times and just came back after they newly renovated. I ordered a variety of handrolls, but I thought the rice had too much vinegar. I also ordered the shrimp balls however, and that made up for it because those were good. Nothing special overall, but still not a bad option.

This is by far the best sushi I have ever had. I love the Benny special(spicy ahi and sushi rice bowl), spicy ahi salad, and California temaki. The small staff is great! They’re friendly and welcoming every time. I have never had a bad experience here!

This Sushi place looks very old, but the food is really good! I went in this morning for breakfast, I know, who eats sushi in the morning? Well, we walked in, I was surprised there was only one person working. She was very nice, took my friends order then took my order. She finishes my friend’s order, a spicy Ahi Roll, shortly after she finishes mine. It was pretty cool how it had a small area in the store that you could sit and eat. Well right after I got my food, my friend whispers, I ordered a bowl… not a roll… then I said«why don’t you tell her?» But he said that she already made it so its fine. The Sushi place I work at has the same issue. That’s why I try to tell my co-workers to ask if it’s a HAND-roll or a bowl, not roll or bowl. But I had the Kiss of Fire and I really liked it! I love how it was actually spicy! Unlike my work place. The drinks were cheap, but I think the food is little on the expensive side for sushi.

Neat little hole in the wall. Lots of options and they serve brown rice. Small place with a couple seats. Had the unagi bowl which wasn’t bad. Not a bad place to check out if your hungry and in the area.

There needs to be a crosswalk directly from that HCC parking lot to Blvd Snack… So many people, myself included, run across the street before class/after class/in between class… It’s dangerous!!! I’ve been a little skeptical about getting food from here… I mean it’s located between strip clubs and bars on pot-hole ridden Dillingham Blvd. It looks kinda chinese-restaurant-sketchy from the outside and the interior is TINY – don’t expect to be seated at a table. But I hadn’t eaten breakfast one morning and knew it would be a long day at work… It seems that most HCC students come here to get spam musubi and spicy spam musubi. I got an oyakodon. It was just alright, nothing exceptional, and about $ 8. Btw, they prepare everything on the menu, the entire time they’re open(even at 7:30am). I also bought those yummy korean onion ring things. The ladies who work here are really nice too!

I was at HCC attending a music workshop and stumbled upon Blvd Snack & Take-Out Sushi while searching for lunch. There are not a lot of food options in walking distance and I was surprised when I found out that it was a sushi shop. I had thought it was going to be some dirty old convenience store that serviced construction workers and hostess bar chicks. I was excited at the prospect of not eating boiled peanuts and a stale chick-o-stick for lunch! Although I could have gone for a rock hard Big Hunk bar. The microwave can do wonders! I ordered six pieces ebi nigiri($ 2.65 for 3 pieces), shinko maki and cucumber ume maki($ 1.45 each). Blvd Snack is a step down from Kozo or Genki so don’t expect amazing sushi. It’s edible but definitely not amazing in any way, shape or form. I’d say this is where you grab food if you’re stuck at HCC and don’t have a lot of time to find food elsewhere. I was so hungry that it really didn’t matter what I ate as long as I didn’t get food poisoning!

I pass by this little store everytime I go to Costco but decided to give it a try after reading Pomai’s post. It is definitely a small shop… we decided to try their Udon set and the spicy ahi nigiri. The Udon set comes with cold udon noodles and the usual dipping sauce, 4 pieces of their spicy ahi roll… and interestingly… a stick of imitation crab, seaweed salad and some taegu. The spicy ahi roll is actually plain but she gave me a little container of the spicy sauce to put on myself. I thought that was a good way to appease both the spicy and non-spicy customers. Heehee, well if the nice lady who helped me is the owner, she was Korean so that would explain the Korean touch. The spicy ahi nigiri was pretty good, it was 3 pieces for $ 3.65. The Udon set was $ 7.95. I think it’s a a cool shop and it’s good that they open early with some breakfast specials! It’s definitely worth a try.

BLVDSNACK& Take-Out Sushi is a very tiny hole-in-the-wall shop located across the street from HCC. Amazingly for what little space they have to work with, the sushi is all made-to-order right behind the counter. Contrary to its name, don’t expect a vast assortment of crack seed or related types of exotic specialty snacks, but more a selective, yet quite eclectic mix of nationally-distributed candies, chips, and other goodies on the shelf. The prepared Japanese foods are really the featured items here. The Temaki rolls are all super cheap, running between 99 cents to $ 1.95 each, yet despite the budget price, really, really good! To note, the sushi rice is done to perfection, while the various fillings come across as very fresh and quite tasty. Note, they open very early at 6:30am Monday through Friday, where you can get the Breakfast Specials of Portuguese Sausage, Eggs, Tsukemono and Rice for just $ 4.00.
