Doomies ROCKS! Definitely the coolest Vegan spot in LA, run by Phil Doomie. Creator of the infamous Doomies Tacos that were served at Das Bunker, and Wumpskate for years until he opened his own restaurant. I have tried many of Doomies amazing dishes. He also does Vegan catering, so I have been fortunate enough to try all kinds of his creations that are not on the regular menu. I never thought I would get to try Ceviche(vegan of course) or like Brussel sprouts, but when Doomie cooks them, you know they were amazing. I have had many of the different kinds of fries on the menu. Fire Fries, Buffalo Fries, Cheese fries, Mushroom fries, all VERY good. But the Fried avocado is kickass… Just melt in your mouth goodness. I highly recommend it. The Spicy Chicken is perfect, just the right amount of spice, and the vegan Mac and Cheese is good too. But Doomie is known for his tacos, so you MUST try them. As a vegetarian for 21+ years I have tried many«Veggie» meat” tacos, but these are the BEST vegan tacos I have ever had. Nothing even comes close! Doomies is open late on Friday and Saturday until 3:00AM, so come in after Malediction or Das Bunker and be prepared to be impressed. If you are a Vegetarian in Los Angeles you NEED to check this place out. You will not be disappointed.

Doomie’s makes for a great late night wind-down with your friends. While this is Vegan and Vegetarian friendly food, it IS soul food and while the food is good, you may feel like you may need to run it off. Don’t be surprised if some items are not available on the menu, it will happen eventually if you visit enough. I have had a few of their burgers and chicken and none of them have missed the mark yet. If you are there late night, you may catch Doomie there. Chat him up and talk about food. He’s a really cool dude!

I was introduced to this place by my brother who wanted to introduce me to a new vegan spot. He is a meat eater and I’m vegan so when we went, I didn’t know what to expect. The décor was laid back, outdated but I liked their tables with different designs(ours was Marvel comic superheroes). To the food, I had a hard time eating it because it tastes exactly like meat! I would recommend this place to someone who is craving meat/dairy but can’t have it or wants to minimize their consumption. I loved the Western Cheezeburger but I kept putting it down bc although it was really tasty, I couldn’t get passed how real it felt. If you don’t care about that, then I say go check this place out. It’s worth it, definitely comfort food.

I love vegan junk food! My boyfriend and I have come here a few times and we always enjoy the buffalo wings. My boyfriend has a sweet tooth and Loves the cheese cake here. I love the idea of this place.

The menu looked great — so many vegan junk food options — YES! Gluten-free options, not so good. No GF buns or alternative preparations. I ended up getting buffalo fries and tacos. They were ok, but nothing to get excited about. The service was ok — I went on Christmas, so I was happy they were open. I would recommend this place if you are into junk food or fast food. If you are gluten free expect to be limited and possibly disappointed.

I have such a hard time rating this place. When I rate a vegan place, I rate it based on how good the food is, like you usually do, which is to say I don’t want say something like«this is really good, for vegan food» nope. Vegan food can be delicious so it ha to stand on its own. With that said: The average: Jalapeño poppers were good enough, but not great, and really pricey for the amount you get. I tried a bit of the Chicken Basket from a friend, as well as having my own Big Mac. I can honestly say, this does such an amazing job of mimicking fast food and even one-uping it. But the problem is, fast food probably not the best thing you want your bench mark to be. If you are vegan and you miss fast food like crazy, run to this place now, it’s what you’ve dreamed of. If you don’t like fast food though, you may wonder why you are paying so much for only above average food. My Big Mac was great mind you. But I would never crave it like I might Ramen Hood, or any of my favorite vegan dim sum places in NYC, etc. The bad: For a place that taste like fast food, mostly had junk food, and most things are fried, hot crap are they slow. This was the biggest offender why I gave it 2⁄5 stars in the end. It took an hour before we got our food. I think it was about 50 min before we go appetizers and soda(!?!). Wtf. By the time I got the food I was cranky. And we didn’t get there when it was super busy or anything. My wife ordered a grilled chicken and asked for no tomato. Holy cow, after an hour you definitely better get the order right. On top of that, it tasted just below average, like a generic microwave veg chicken. One rule of being a good restaurant: don’t offer bad things on the menu. Another ironic bit of information: if you want more healthy vegan food, it just doesn’t exist here. Native Food was so good and offered a wide range of options from mock meat to healthy options. Here: fast food vegan all the way. The above average: The Big Mac, while mimicking below average fast food, was good. It may have been that they starved me first. The pesto fries were really good, full flavored and good texture, and the crem brûlée was nicely flavored, but the bottom was cold which was a little off putting. Overall, this is such a mixed bag. Had I ever loved fast food, had they not taken an hour, had they not messed up my wife’s order, had the chicken sandwich been good, they would have gotten more stars. I went with 2⁄5 instead of 3⁄5 because my overall feeling is that I’d never really want to come back. I hope the do well and improve their service.

I MADELOVETO A HANDSOMECRISPYCHICKENBURGER ! YEAHBABY !(Austin Power Voice) … This place is like your greasy get down for vegans. Sometimes you need a break from the healthy eating idea & enjoy life with some fries & burgers. Its a new exprience & try it ! The service was great. A bit slow but i didnt mind waiting. If you come please be nice & wait this is no McD’s but a set in resturant with 3 chefs that is more of us & less of them cooking/serving. P. S. The Oreo dessert isnt so great. Try other things. Great Music & Cool Tables ! TAKETHATCHEATDAY!

I’ve been here a few times. I wish I lived closer or better yet they had a location closer to me. Hollywood is kind of sketchy and this place is located in a strip mall . As for the food I’ve had the Big Mac, the spicy chicken sandwich, the spicy popcorn chicken poboy and the shrimp poboy .The Big Mac is good like everyone says but is It the best item here? No. I rank the spicy chicken sandwich a little higher because it’s cheaper and more flavorful. It’s way better than native foods chicken sandwich which has gone down hill over the years . The best and I mean BEST thing to get is the poboys … Omg I could eat one of those everyday for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. Soooo flavorful and so unhealthy but it’s amazing. The spice level is perfect, the batter is crispy and the vegan remoulade is better than remoulade. It’s better than a real poboy… actually all of the items are better than the sandwiches they are imitating. I just wish it was cheaper . Check this place out if you get the chance.

Doomie’s used to be a favorite guilty pleasure of mine but I’ve had so many bad experiences here that I just can’t bring myself to keep going in hopes of it being good again. I have never eaten at a place that is so inconsistent. Sometimes you get a good server and good food; other times the server spends the entire time hanging out at another table while you sit there hoping that, eventually, they will see that your order is sitting in the kitchen getting cold. Sometimes they play good music; other times it is nothing more than a blast of low-end over crappy speakers, drowning out all conversation. On a few occasions my food was rock hard, and one time when my boyfriend pointed out that his corn on the cob was still frozen, they didn’t even seem phased and just tossed it in the microwave. My biggest issue that has made me give up on this place is how often they run out of menu items… even on weeknights. One night, I kid you not, they were out of 2⁄3 of the menu and it was a Tuesday. They also replaced the sides for the fried chicken with fries and awful mac ‘n cheese… because that makes sense. I’m bummed that this place didn’t remain as awesome as it used to be. I would’ve rated one star but their desserts were the one thing that was consistently good.

I think Doomie’s is fun for vegetarians/vegans to try at least once because it lets you enjoy all the junk food that you previously can have before going on a veggie journey, however the food wasnt that great considering the high price tag, with the exception of desserts. Vegan Big Mac — very expensive. You’re looking at $ 15 for the burger alone. Upgrade the plain fries it comes with to anything else will cost you another $ 3 so you’re looking at $ 18 for a basket of food. The Big Mac itself tasted a little bit too close to meat for my comfort so I was gagging a little bit. Vegan Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich — very very greasy, very flavorless, and very expensive at $ 13. Vegan Animal Style Fries — the fries were drowned in oil from the vegan cheese so we’re talking wet, soggy fries… not a great adaption of the In N Out version. Fried Oreos — this was delicious. Worth ordering. Crème Brulee — I was really glad to try a vegan version of a crème brûlée. Instead of eggs, they use agar agar to get the texture, and the sugar was perfectly hardened on top. Delicious and very close to the real thing. At night the Valet takes over the lot and if all the other spots are taken, it will cost you $ 6.50 to park in the plaza. So I’d come for lunch or before dinner time kicks in.

If you love Big Mac but haven’t eaten it after you cut out meat from your diet, look no further. Doomie’s version of Big Mac is just as good or even better in quality. However, although it’s not listed on the menu, remember that each Big Mac cost about $ 14 – 15 dollars for one. Wish we knew that before when we ordered. Despite the prices, the food was beyond what I had expected. We got the mac and cheese, animal fries, chili cheese fries and also deep fried Oreos. Get the animal fries with your Big Mac, you will not regret it. I personally think it’s better than in-n-out’s infamous animal fries. Mac and cheese was good for being vegan but it definitely wasn’t as memorable compared to the other items on the menu. It would be nice however to see them go further with their mac and cheese by experimenting with other ingredients. Deep fried Oreo cookies. Self explanatory. It’s delicious. Overall, it was an awesome experience to try this style of vegan food that comes very close to the food they tried to replicate. In addition, the portion size was generous so don’t be afraid to share your food instead of getting everything separately. Only thing I want them to improve on is the interior décor. The lack of lighting will confuse newcomers visiting at night because it looks as if it’s closed. Also I would like to see more of a centralized and concrete theme with the décor. Although it was nice to see a collage of marvel characters on our table, I was confused on what type of theme the restaurant was trying to go for. Regardless, I’d visit again to try other food on their menu.

Doomie’s(not so) secret Big Mac has been on my radar for a while and last night I finally tried one. Unfortunately, I wasn’t blown away by any means. Let me start with the pros: –Service was good. The staff was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. –The food was presented well, in a fast food kind of way. –They did a good job making the faux meats seem meaty. The fried«chicken» even had skin, which kind of grossed me out, but is still cool. –There was a good variety of junk food on the menu(I wasn’t coming here for health food, ha!) Now onto the cons: –The food was expensive for what it is. Our total was around $ 30 before tip for two entrees and waters(see photos below). –Parking on a Friday night was a pain and we ended up paying $ 6.50 for valet in their lot. –It was insanely hot in the restaurant and they had the door open while it was 95 degrees outside. –The interior seemed a bit dirty and our table was very sticky(maybe from the heat). All in all, it was a mediocre experience. Service was good and food was alright, but I don’t have a desire to go back.

The Big Mac is still on the secret menu, hallelujah! I could barely finish half of it. I think it’s even larger than an actual Big Mac. You get a side of their delicious fries or fresh fruit with it. My friend also loved their Western burger but I was too busy trying to finish my own that I forgot to ask for a taste. We finished our meal with a slice of the seasonal berry pie, with an amazing crust. The pie was bursting with berries — the perfect summer dessert! I love that this is just a few minutes from work. I’m putting this in the rotation. All vegans who haven’t experienced Doomie’s are missing out!

We went around 9pm on a Saturday night. Apparently, on the weekends, parking is valet only and the parking attendant was a hound. However, someone left from one of the 15-min parking spots in front of Doomie’s so we parked there and placed a to-go order, to the attendant’s dismay. I wanted to try many things, but they were sold out of several things, like the Country Fried Steak and mashed potatoes, so I settled on the following: FRIEDSHRIMP — Vegan butterfly-looking shrimp, served with cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Delicious vegan shrimp, although I did not care for their tartar sauce. DOOMIE’S SOUTHERNFRIEDCHICKEN — Drop the phone! If the world knew that vegan chicken could be this good, there would be no KFCs! The batter is SO crispy and flavorful; it is truly like(what I remember of) Southern Fried Chicken, sans the cruelty. Mind = blown! It came with 2 pieces of vegan fried chicken, a roll, corn on the cob, and since they were out of mashed potatoes, I got roasted red potatoes, which I didn’t like at all. They lacked any flavor and were just blah. Everything else was excellent. For dessert, I tried the SOUTHERNSTRAWBERRYSHORTCAKE and the DEEPFRIEDOREOS. I was not impressed with the Strawberry Shortcake, which included a dry shortcake biscuit(it should be soft and moist), and lots of syrupy red sauce. The Deep Fried Oreos, however, were a winner! They were sprinkled with powdered sugar, and came with a little chocolate sauce on the side. Sinfully indulging! After ordering, the cashier mentioned that they have a secret menu, but she wouldn’t tell me what was on it! This peeved me tremendously. Why even tell me that there IS a secret, but refuse to tell me what the secret is? It’s like she was taunting me! Every table in this joint is themed with different comic-book heroes. There was a Wonder Woman table, X-Men, Suicide Squad, Batman, etc. I had fun checking out the cool pictures on each table. It was just missing the evil, secret-menu hoarding cashier. X_X Cool restaurant with some excellent vegan spins on southern cookin’. They’re open until 3am, so I don’t understand how they were sold out of so many things so early. That, and the whole super-secret menu deal cost them a star. But I will still return to try that Country Fried Steak.

This is vegan, right? I took a bite out of the«Chicken leg» and I could see and taste the batter, white meat, and SKIN?! That’s right. Everything at Doomie’s is vegan. Well you could’ve fooled me. This restaurant replicates Southern cooking to it’s finest detail. Knowing we would only have this one night to dine at Doomie’s– I ordered everything. Ok, maybe not everything, but nearly everything. We got the Sampler that included Mac & Cheese with Bacon, Jalapeño Poppers, Chicken Fingers, Battered Shrimp, Onion Rings, and Chili Cheese Fries. I ordered the Classic cheeseburger with french fries and my SO ordered the Southern Fried Chicken with mashed potato, corn on cob, salad, and fresh roll. And ofcourse we couldn’t gobble all this down without a bottle of hard cider. The server was rolled out the starters pretty fast. The salad that came with the SFC was loaded with thousand island dressing otherwise was pretty standard with just lettuce and tomato. The sampler was amazing. The Jalapeño Poppers were cheesy and HOT(caution: not for the weak). The Battered Shrimp was fried perfectly. The Onion Rings were great. The Chili Cheese Fries reminded me of poutine! The Chicken Fingers had to been the most disappointing– chewy and bland but nothing one of the sauces can’t spruce up. But the Mac and Cheese, was simply the best. Then our entrees came, oh boy. Everything looked too much like the animal counterpart. If you really like meat but want to give vegan a go, than you gotta try this place. I swore when I took the first bite out of my burger, I panicked because it tasted just like what you would get at, lets-say, McDonald’s(including the fries). It has almost been one-year since being Vegan and I never felt so guilty. For me, the taste was too overwhelming I had to ask my SO for some help. But for you, it may certainly be the best Vegan burger you will ever have. The Southern Fried Chicken my SO got was spot-on as well. Doomie’s managed to replicate the skin, meat, and bones to real Chicken. It tasted so much like Chicken that it was amazingly scary. It was battered and seasoned wonderfully. The sides really completed this southern meal. Thank you Doomie’s for this wonderful experience. And thank you for making me realize I actually prefer veggie burgers, haha. Y’all gotta try this place!

Best vegan restaurant in a very long time, atmosphere is casual comfortable and staff is fantastic I must try for everyone who lives in LA, and who visits
