D & J Feeding Tree

My wife and I ordered the dinner size of curry goat and oxtail with rice & peas with veggies. Large servings each. One order could feed 2 people. Everything was very delicious. Good fruit cake. Reasonable prices. I would recommend it to all.

The jerk chicken I ordered tasted like barbaque chicken nd nothing like jerk and ive lived in Jamaica, so no one can tell me that was a version of jerk chicken… not to mention they gave me hardly any meat… mostly bones, fat nd skin… There rice was so, so… nothing to talk about… I called the place to complian nd they told me to come back to make it right, which o appreciate but honestly i couldn’t nor did I really want to bec that is how much I was dissapointed

This place is close to work so I decided to give it a try… I haven’t had stew peas in a long time so I was very excited to have it again, as I went in the lady at the register was talking to another lady about insurance policy and didn’t even bother to acknowledge me; when I asked her if I place my order there or at the other side she said with her so I told her what I wanted and she kept chatting, after the lady left she went to the back for my food, finally!
The food was ok… Stew peas is suppose to have beef but this was all pigs tail plus lots of fat! But good flavor. I don’t think I will be ordering at this place again… But if I do I’ll make sure to order ahead of time instead of waiting…

Hands down the best Jamaican food in town. This place is definitely a hole in the wall but Donna and Joe have been there for over 30 years!
Don’t be fooled when you walk in. It looks like a convenience store and all of their food is in the back (kitchen) but place your order at the counter and wait to be amazed! The service is excellent and they even have a few small tables inside to dine in. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant environment with servers… this isn’t for you. If you want an amazing home style cooked Jamaican meal… this is the place. My personal favorite is their jerk pork. I love it!!!

The best oxtail in town. period. Her rice and peas is not the best I have ever had, but it has grown on me after a few years.
Portions vary — I usually order a large and if there are any leftovers, I share with my husband :-). And the food can take 15 minutes after ordering — call ahead if possible. I guess she heats each individual portion — I think she has this down to a science, because the oxtail is perfect.
The owner seems like a kind but stern person.
For some reason, I believe they are very involved with their church… maybe the name feeding tree. Either way, for this reason, I don’t mind paying the extra $ and usually leave a small tip to help others.
They have expanded recently and have more tables to eat inside. Do yourself a favor and take the food home, or go somewhere beautiful, like the beach, to enjoy this delicious food.
Please try this place out and help keep this hidden gem in business. If you are Jamaican or a fan of Jamaican food, you won’t be sorry!

I had about an hour before my flight out of the FTL airport, so my friend and I checked in here to get a quick bite. I had the goat, served with rice and peas in a styrofoam plate, overflowing. They had Dragon Stout, so I had two.
It is everything you want in a Caribbean market. I like the dusty dry goods market side with lovely pics of Obama. But the restaurant is cheap, good, and reliable.

On a recent evening I went on Mission Impossible: Find decent Jamaican food close to home. D&J was actually the 3^rd Jamaican restaurant that I went to that night (hey, I was on a mission after all). It’s in a little strip shopping center on Johnson street just west of 95 in an otherwise residential area.
They didn’t have much in the way of vegetarian entrees but I’m perfectly happy with a big portion of rice and peas and steamed cabbage and carrots. The rice was good but the cabbage was fantastic! The only thing that was a bit off-​putting was that a large container of these 2 was about $ 10, that seems a bit steep. I went back a few days later for the same and they unfortunately only had a wee bit of cabbage so a small container of that with rice was $ 3 and change… Seems a little incongruent to my previous purchase.
The place is really more of a take– out/​Jamaican grocery store. They do have a couple tables but there’s nada in the way of ambiance. The folks that run the place are extremely friendly. Give them a try!

What can I say but this place is outstanding, In my opinion their jerk chicken is the only real jerk chicken in the area. I can only speak on behalf of the jerk chicken, and curry chicken dish’s. I have not eaten any other dish on the menu. In my opinion its more of a to go restaurant, although they do have limited seating, and that’s fine with me. What keeps my rating a 3 star rating, and not a 5 star rating is that the portions are not consistent, and at times they are down right puny. If you like quality over quantity this is your place, but if your the type who gets annoyed with inconsistent portions then go else where.

I have been driving past this place for almost a year with the intention to try it. Then a few weekends ago we were at the 9 Mile Music Festival in Miami and picked a random jerk vendor for a snack. The jerk chicken was outstanding, the peas and rice perfect and even the side of steamed cabbage was delicious. And it turns out that the vendor we picked totally at random was D&J Feeding Tree!
You can imagine my excitement when I realized that I had great jerk just down the street from home. Now I don’t have to drive to the middle of nowhere to my favorite jerk place, the Truck Stop out on 27 and griffin.
Later that week we decided to give the restaurant a try. It was good but not quite as good as it was at the festival (he was grilling the chicken up fresh). They were out of peas for the rice and they served the same cabbage from the festival. Granted we did get there kinda late in the evening. We will definitely be giving them another try.
Our second visit to D&J was a little better, The chicken tasted fresher however instead of the steamed cabbage they offered a small iceberg lettuce salad that rapidly turned soggy in the take out container. Other than the soggy salad everything else was tasty.
Even though there were a few minor missteps I will be eating here whenever I get a craving for jerk.

This is all time favorite Jamaican restaurant. The staff are very friendly and the food is the best.
I would recommend their oxtails, it is to die for. I always enjoy it with heavenly white rice and salad. The price is a little high, but I think it is well worth it. Also every Friday, they have the Mannish Water (a soup for the brave at heart). This soup is delicious and I wait every Friday to get some more.
Their is a seating section, but it is mostly a take out spot.
The only negative is the time it takes from when you place an order and get the food. I would recommend calling in your order.
