A Fried pie shop connected to a gas station? How convenient. I stopped by here on the way back from Dallas a couple weeks ago. I’d had this place bookmarked after reading some of the other Unilocal reviews. I went in around 10am or so on a Sunday. I was concerned at first that they wouldn’t be open, but their sign said they have«breakfast»(fried pies), so I was in luck. I only intended on getting frozen pies. After all, it was only 10am on a Sunday and it would’ve been totally inappropriate for me to eat three fried pies at that time, especially since I’d already had breakfast. Plus, I had to take some home to boyfriend. The girl working at the shop was very helpful. She showed me where the frozen pies were and explained that the ones on the top might not be completely frozen yet, since they had just been made that morning, but that I should grab one from the bottom of the freezer. The fried pie bag thankfully has reheating instructions for the frozen ones. We tried the chocolate pie, apple, and vanilla. I have to say, the apple and chocolate ones were my favorites. The vanilla had a strange consistency to the filling, but the fact that the other two were so good made up for it. I forgot to mention, the shop sells savory pies as well as hamburgers too, if you’re craving something not so sweet.

The fried pie shop is amazing! I’m always down to stop in and always plan to get one or two and leave with a dozen! They have fruit pies they have savory pies. they even have I kid you not pizza pies! I got one pie here that was kind of like a pot pie even. I have never had a pie here I didn’t like! I expect that I gain several pounds every time we stop here. I think my favorite pie is the chocolate pie. its very generic just deep fried chocolate pudding filled pie. I love how simple it is and how tasty the pudding is. I could say the same thing about all of the pies but I have special place in my heart for the chocolate pie. I also dig how the store and the pie shop are covered in Lonesome Dove memorabilia. I’m a huge fan of the novels and the mini series so I never cease to be amused by the décor. If you are on the road anywhere near this place stop and get some pies you wont regret it.

There are not many things in this world that are better than a handmade fresh fried pie! If you are driving on I35 between Austin and DFW this is a must stop for sure! The fried Pie Shop is located inside an exxon gas station in Hillsboro, TX which is just south of the metroplex and north of Waco. They have savory, fruit and cream pies for your delight and they literally will make them while you wait! On my most recent visit we ordered a dozen pies because they are cheaper by the dozen and they are great to take home and eat over the next few days too. I like the sugar free fruit pies … sugar free blackberry, apple and peach were devine! The vanilla cream pie was simply mind blowing … soooo good! The savory were all great too, but I am a dessert person so my preference in with the sweet. The crust on the pies are fried perfectly and they are so crispy and made with such love. Now my one complaint for this particular fried pie shop is that on a Sunday evening 1 person working is not enough! We waited way too long for our fried pies. It was worth the wait, but if there had been at least one more person working there would have been happier customers all around. As we were waiting there were people that would get frustrated waiting at the front counter because the only lady working was towards the back making fresh pies and she couldn’t see them. I mean she can’t be in both places at once and people had to wait. So if you are running this place please staff it appropriately! Ok — now I am off my soap box … The fried pies here are delicious and worth the wait … I promise! If you are traveling between Austin and DFW definitely make the stop here. I like to stop in West when I am headed northbound to DFW because it is on the northbound side of the road and at the fried pie shop here when I am headed southbound to Austin because it is on that side of the road. Any — either way … stop here and enjoy a fresh pie … you won’t regret it!

The pies took forever as there was only one person working the store and she was also helping the drive through lane. First we had to wait till the drive through order was done then we had to wait till she made some pies for us as all the pies were not ready. The pie tasted good but 2 hours later we all had an upset stomach and lots, and lots of heartburn. Next time I am going to make a better, healthier decision and move on and not stop here.

Totally miss this place. They had one in College Station, home of Texas A&M University for a short time. Replaced a Sonic. Suppose the location was bad in a gas station parking lot. Favorites are the breakfast versions of all type. Was nice to find this.

Located inside an Exxon, the Original Fried Pie Shop is a welcomed treat. Yes, they offer fruit and nut pies… had a sample of the apple.good. They sell their sweet pies fresh or frozen. eat in or take home. BUT, the big hits for me were the amazingly tasty savory pies! Each one made fresh to order. And to order, I mean roll the dough out, put the filling in, pinch the corners shut, drop it into 100 percent peanut oil…3 minutes later and you’re on your way to fried pie heaven. Piping hot good stuff with extra flaky, not greasy crust. The perfect size to pick up and eat… hence they call them«hand pies.» Several to choose from, including breakfast varieties, but we opted for the Comfort(sausage, potato, cheese sauce) and the Beef & Veg. Both equally as great! Perfect, handmade… at $ 3.75 each a great snack or light lunch/dinner. Enjoy!

You can’t get better than deep fried pie. They day old ones get put in a freezer and are sold at a discount. We usually grab some of them for later in the day.

On a recent road trip, I stopped in to get gas and low and behold there was a fried pie shop in the same building so I had to go get a fried pie. My daughter had never experienced a fried pie so I bought her a fried brisket and myself the pork. The filling was amazing, the dough fresh and hot and wow, what a great snack for the road! I will be stopping back by every trip down I-35 and back home to the Metroplex. Great job Fried Pie Shop!

I had just eaten so I just bought two for later, big mistake. I love fried pies and these are some of the best or maybe THEBEST ever. I bought a peach and a blackberry. They were both fresh with flakey crust, great filling, lots of fruit, not too sweet, not greasy at all and an ample size. It would take two of most fried pies to equal one of these. Most fresh fried pies I have had were quite greasy but not these. I will make a special trip to go back so I can order a fresh meat and vegetable pie and more fruit and nut pies to take home and to share with friends and family. WOW

Well granted it wasn’t a very healthy choice, but we went to this restaurant last night on our drive back from Dallas. So glad we stopped. Had the brisket fried pie… good but I wished for vegetables with it. Friends had the chicken vegetable pie… great choice. It tasted like the chicken pot pie my mom used to make! BUT, we then had the cherry, lemon, peach and pecan fried pies. OMG to die for. Don’t be turned off by the fact that it is inside a gas station. The two ladies running it were like our new best friends when we left. The food while not Weight Watchers was great. Oh, and we grabbed a gas fill up while we were stopped — what more could you want? Oh, that’s right TUMS! :))

Fried pies baby! We stopped for pies driving home from Corpus Christi, Texas to Overland Park, Kansas. We had been seeing the signs on the way in, so on the way out we knew we wanted to make a stop. Over the years we have learned that sometimes the most delicious things can come from unlikely places, so we were actually excited that we were heading to a gas station to pick up some delicious treats. This place does have indoor seating, but I was on a roll and didn’t want to delay our trek home so our order was placed to go. The interior was neat and clean. The woman at the counter was very friendly and helped us decide on a few good pies. We decided on a chocolate and vanilla pie for dessert, but for dinner we shared a pizza and BBQ pie. The BBQ was sweet and smokey. The pizza was stuffed with cheese and pepperoni. The crust on these bad boys was tender and flakey. As my wife recalls, «they were both fire!» The sweet pies where equally as tasty with the same tender and flakey crust. We joked that it would be nice to have a freezer with us so we could have bought a dozen or so to freeze. If you are on the road, needing sustenance and seeking a refuge for your taste buds, you should definitely consider making a pit stop here! The next time we make this trip we will stop again for sure!

I bought some on the way back to Dallas once and honestly the filling was not enough, breading was too thick, and the smell of their shortening, oil, or whatever they use was a bit overwhelming for me. It was almost like a fried gyro. eek~

Fried Pies… not exactly healthy but damn good nonetheless! As I was driving to Ark and did not eat breakfast I was starved by the time I reached Hillsboro, so decided to stop and have some lunch. I had the chicken and veggie pie. It was just ok for me. I love the crust but the filling tasted like something out of a can. I split it with the dog, who had no complaints, and went on to dessert. Wow…a fresh, hot blackberry fried pie. Yes please! It was amazing and really messy, so be sure to grab lots of napkins. I would stick to the dessert pies here.

Driving home from Dallas we had to stop for gas and noticed this place. OMG! I got a warm chocolate pie that was delicious. Don’t try to eat and drive with these because it is a bit messy. The crust was crispy and delicious and the chocolate filling was sweet without being overly sweet. Last thing I expected to find attached to a gas station in Hillsboro. Definitely worth a visit. This may become a regular stop on our trecks…

Best fried pies around. Believe it or not, the crust is the best part. Light and tasty but not sweet. The sweetness comes from the contents inside. I tried the peach, the blackberry, the pecan and the sweet potato. All were very good! Make sure you get them fresh the first time you go. Sometimes they have day or two old pies that are frozen that you can buy at a discount but I prefer the fresh pies.

You know all the signs on the side of the road that only say Fried Pies. Well this is the place they are talking about. The pies are flaky and hardy. When you walk in you can see them making the pies. Every time I see a bakery it reminds me of Sweeney Todd & come to think of it they do make meat pies here.
