Just moved from Los Angeles and have been trying to find a good sushi place. Sushi YAA is an amazing deal. All you can eat, delicious sushi, I was amazed haha. Really enjoyed my experience.

My first bad review… ever. I rely on Unilocal to make informed decisions. Having said that, this was worse than grocery store sushi, worse than any to-go sushi places, perhaps the worst sushi I’ve ever had. I hate to say this because I wanted to like it, the concept is very cool! While the rolls were continually replenished, the variety was poor. California rolls can only be embellished upon so much. The rice was dry, and too much of it. I don’t think I had a single piece of real fish the entire meal except for a small amount in the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. The only bright spot, and the reason for the second star, was the tempura shrimp and calamari. My girlfriend and I enjoy great sushi and don’t mind paying for it but like a good deal, so we tried it. At the end of the meal we both agreed that although the prices were excellent, we would not be coming back. Sorry to say this and I hope the variety improves someday. The all you can eat sushi bar concept deserves a spot among all of the other sushi offerings.

Until recently, I would frequent this place once a month. Sadly, after my wife and I contracted what was either a foodborne pathogen or viral gastroenteritis from an unclean eating surface that made us violently ill for two days, we wont be coming back.

I had food poisoning/diarrhea after eating here. This is the McDonalds of sushi in terms of quality. The rolls are definitely American style and ingredients are not the best. I also had the shrimp tempura and was disappointed when I saw the veins still in them. The restroom has interesting wallpaper but the stalls do not lock properly which is an issue.

My wife loves it, but I will say she likes Americanized Sushi(rolls mostly, sauce, etc). Not tons of raw fish options but still good. It was rice heavy. Very clean, very fresh rolls and options. Great staff! My wife’s favorite sushi experience.

Good quality sushi for the price! I mean who doesn’t want to go to an all you can eat sushi place?

I’ve been to Sushi Yaa twice and both times the food was fresh and tasty! Plus it’s affordable!

My sister and I both like coming here for a quick, inexpensive lunch or dinner. They have some unique rolls that I enjoy and I really like the chicken karaage and tempura vegetables. The place is always clean and inviting and the buffet lines are always well stocked. I will continue to come here whenever I’m in the mood for some quick sushi.

We’re recent transplants from San Diego so the bar is set fairly high. There’s just no way you can set the bar any lower for SushiYAA. Every single roll and dish was horrible. It’s by far the worst restaurant I’ve ever seen. Food: Horrible in every way imaginable. The rice was hard as little pebbles. The paper thin fish slices were old, dry, and tasted like cardboard. The tempura was cold, soggy, and tasteless. Literally everything there was horrible. Even the frozen yogurt had a powdery residue and a chalky taste. Close the doors now because this place is 100% failure. Price: $ 10 is cheap but not cheap enough for crap. How difficult is it to get fresh fish? Don’t call this a sushi place and serve such garbage. It gives sushi a bad name. I’m completely amazed this place is still in business. I’d much rather pay $ 30 for quality sushi than $ 10 for the spilge they serve here. Go to Tokyo-One. It’s worth the drive to Carrolton.

For the price it is a good value. Restaurant is clean and they keep the selections fresh.

Good sushi, clean atmosphere. I have done a few business lunches here over the years, never any issues.

You get what ya pay for. And not nobody gets authenticity or high quality sushi for $ 11. What you get for your $ 11 here is all you can eat freshly made rolls. They’re not made with fancy ingredients and there’s no raw stuff here, despite what other reviewers say. Maybe it’s changed since I discovered it. In addition to a variety of sushi rolls, you get a few hot rolls, some seaweed salad and pickles and other cold accessories, and a mini hot buffet with not-terrible dumplings, teriyaki chicken, fried yams, etc. there is also a nice little miso and ramen soup station. All of this comes in a bright, clean, ikea-furnished dining room. If you’re looking for quality and authenticity, dig deeper into your wallets. If you want a compromise between mega buffet and something lighter and fresher, this might be a good place to check out.

Took a step back from previous visits. Might have been a bad day for the chef. I was not nearly as impressed with my last visit.

If you like rolls at Blue Fish cali rolls you will like the fresh buffet at SushiYAA. It’s about 30 variations of sushi rolls, eight types of fried tempura stuff, plus typical lo-mein and miso soups you’d expect. AYCE with several types of beer and cold saki available. Take-out is available out by the pound. This is the only dine-in SushiYAA of 3 in the DFW area. It’s a cool-hip vibe with better food than typical supermarket sushi — at $ 10 per adult + drinks. A step above Kroger, Tom Thumb and upper-end flagship Walmart and Whole foods. Good easy lunch or dinner

The presentation was nice. But do not eat raw fish sitting out ever! We went on a slow Wednesday, never been there I was questionable. Told my daughter not to eat the raw stuff. She did anyway, FOODPOISONING! We had no idea how long that was sitting there. Pretty pricy for the same roll over and over. Glorified California Rolls with different toppings. Very bland. Good concept, just needs tweaking.

Used to come here a lot. Lately the rolls all fall apart and everything is just another version of the roll right next to it with crabmeat and something else. Prices have gone up and no longer a value. It’s a shame because it used to be really good. Another improvement would be service. Everyone who works there acts like they are afraid to talk to a customer. All chefs are head down and don’t speak, and all the kids at the register ask if you want a drink and swipe your card as fast as humanly possible so they can get back to Facebook. Literally, I have been here 20 times and have never once had anyone who works there even speak to me, with the exception of telling me my total when I pay. Hope they learn that service and quality are important components of a successful restaurant. I won’t be back unless I hear of some wild improvements.

True to form, I feel the need to remind all the other reviewers to review a place for what it is, not what it could be — or even what you want it to be. It’s $ 10.99 for an adult all-you-can-eat sushi, tempura, fried rice, Lo mein, miso and ramen soup buffet. $ 6.99 for kids 6+. $ 4.99 for kids 3+. 2 and under, free. The fact that the sushi is rice laden doesn’t make it worth 2 stars. It’s like saying, «CiCi’s pizza is good, but definitely not the place for gourmet handmade pizzas.» The sushi — as it’s made — is made well, and the flavors are good. The rolls are made fresh as they run out, they put only 1 – 2 rolls out at a time of each one and keep them filled by making the rolls right there behind the counter. I came for a sushi fix, not to eat gourmet sushi. Clearly there are many other great options around to get sashimi, hand rolls and other delicate sushi options. This is just your bread and butter sushi, and it’s done just fine. They even have hot rolls, that’s not common! Good for what it is, cheaper than going and paying $ 10−15/roll at a sushi/tempanyaki grill. Oh, and their water from the soda machine is very good! Clean and the perfect cool temperature.

This is not a negative review, just remember, when you go to a $ 10 all you can eat sushi buffet, you get $ 10 sushi buffet quality sushi. If you like to eat a lot of avocado, cucumber and processed crab and rice, it’s right on the money. They do have some other hot options that were good too. If you’re hungry and in the mood for sushi, good place to fill up. If you are looking for good quality sushi, better keep driving.

Would like to give 2.5 stars. If you like California roll, tons of rice and staff not speaking to you, this place is for you. Yes, they have lots of rolls, but nearly all are made with fake crab meat and are just a variation of CA roll. It’s ok. Nothing great.

My friend Chase likes things a certain way. Being her Libra sister(she 10⁄8 and me 10⁄15) I took her word that a bit of a drive would be worth a $ 10 sushi lunch buffet. «it’s like 30 minutes away.». She warned. As we passed fields, electric stations, Whataburgers, warehouses and generic big box storefronts, I wondered why we were driving outside Dallas’ own handful of decent sushi places to eat sushi in suburbia. The air seemed fresh. Chase insisted that we smoke on the way there so we would«have the munchies» and could«pig out on sushi.». She had a vision. As I opened my car door, a upside down ice cream cone had been planted in the new black asphalt. The new restaurant had banners and that sparkle you might associate with a fast food racket. «I like to pay first and get my food» she said. As we passed by the lamp lit sushi buffet, with only a few pieces out that seemed to guarantee a certain freshness, the place seemed clean. The pretty, with a single red hair strip cashier stared at me suspiciously with a droll judgement. «You’re supposed to take your tray, get your sushi, pay, and then find your seat.» she recited with some script and anger. Little goth girl: pretty and misunderstood in the suburbs, and/or the aliens have successfully podded sleepy Highland Village. You could be anywhere, and you’ll probably never go there. But we enjoyed the otherworld of «normalcy». “we are gonna pay first and then get our sushi.”. I informed her with an equal air of condescension and a 50’s housewife smile without the simultaneous tilt of head. I thought«damn» me and this lesbian b***h are about to get it on. «you have to try the cheeto roll.» chase sang as I spied the roll covered in red cheeto crumbs. «Absolutely», I thought. The sushi wasn’t bad, it was passable but with the tasteless flavor that food at sushi buffets normally facilitate, American style mayo sauce designs and cream cheese fillings. We each had two small rounds and called it a day; enjoying, besides sushi roll pieces, the diakon, the seaweed salad, the grilled chicken skewers, the tempura and the miso. You can also purchase togo for $ 4.8 a half pound. The Dallas store only has this option. With the mediocre but economy friendly food I’m not sure of its traveling power, or if outside of a freakily normal Suburb I’d give this place much thought. Sometimes it’s about the journey, not the destination. Thanks Chase for a whacky day trip to Highland Village.
