Pizzanese

Noooooooooo!
I used to go here every week with my boyfriend, and we continued to go everytime we came back in town to visit my parents after moving to MD. Beyond sad that it’s closed, the food was stellar, the workers were great and the owners were so kind.
Hope they make a come back :(

Hearing good things about Pizzanese and in an attempt to grab a quick lunch, we gave this place a try. The concept is good — pick your crust (regular or gluten free), sauce, cheese, meats and veggie toppings. Add as little or as much as you want. Throw it in the oven, and in a few minutes you’ll have a fresh, customized pizza just for you. It’s a good size with six small slices. $ 9.
New chopped salads are on the menu, too. Looks like much of the same, only on romaine or arugula instead of a crust. And probably no pizza sauce either. :)
Sadly, my experience today came to a screeching halt as I was getting a drink. Out with the cubed ice came a frozen cockroach. Belly up. Sitting on an ice cube. By luck, I glanced in my cup while I was debating the Boylan soda choices. Back to the register I go with this discovery, and the staff response was non-​plussed. After one guy snapped some photos with his phone (as did I), they did put an «out of order» sign up.
And to me? The offer of a new cup. Wouldn’t you want to get more ice, if you were me?
I kindly declined and asked if I could have a bottle of water instead. Sure.
Despite the roach and the crappy customer service, two stars because the pizza really wasn’t too bad. I think this could be (and must be, given Unilocal reviews) a great place, but I’m just not sure it’s for me anymore.
