My husband and I ordered pies for 100 guests, and not only did David provide, he gave us a great deal! The pies are all made with real fruit and no additives or crazy amounts of sugar. David is a such a sweet, cool guy and he made it so easy for us. Plus, all our guests complimented on us on our great decision of having pie instead of cake. Definitely go to him if you want fresh delicious pies(or other desserts, he does those too).

Amazing as always! In addition to sneaking a slice of apple pie every chance I get, I get my dad a chocolate cake when he visits. And every time the cake is amazing. And the service is top notch — leave with a smile. Keep up the great work!

I live right by this bakery and was excited to use somewhere local for my gender reveal party. Absolutely disappointed in the attitude the lady on the phone gave me. She clearly didn’t want to make my cake and gave many excuses and said I should use a different bakery. I wish I had asked to speak with her manager because I would never want someone like her representing my business. I will never go to this bakery and absolutely do not recommend it. I can’t believe how rude this lady was.

Thanks again Dave! Beautiful and delicious engagement party cake! People ate more cake than dinner and it got many great reviews by all. The chocolate truffles added an additional richness that I loved! Thanks again Hermosa Pie!

Dave is amazing. His personality rocks and well his cakes are out of this world! I went cake tasting to many different bakeries in MB, Redondo, and Hermosa and his cake blew them out of the water. His customer service is on point and I can’t wait for my next order/drop in.

My wife and I got another pie & cake from Hermosa Pie & Cake Company. Couldn’t have been more pleased. The cake was fantastic — just like the first one. Sorry the pictures weren’t taken before cuts and pieces were taken out — people just can’t wait! Thanks again for the great experience! Worth the price!

Went to Hermosa for the day and ran into this pie bakery. I’m not a pie eating girl but my husband loves a good apple pie. So, apple pie it was and off we went. HERMOSAPIE… YOUHAVEMADEME A PIELOVER!!! If you can get your hands on one of these pies… DOIT!!! The owner is hilarious, friendly and the master pie chef!!! We will be back!!!

2.5 stars? My husband said 0, but I won’t be that cruel. I love pies and sometimes get in a kick where I bake a pie a week: banana cream, peach pie, fruit tart, lemon meringue, yum! I was initially impressed that they make everything fresh and with seasonal fruit, and the chef told me himself that«everything was good.» Some of the selection looked really impressive, but some of the items that were marked seem high in my opinion. I usually pay $ 8 for a dessert at a restaurant where it comes hot, and usually served with ice cream, whip cream and/or sauce. Maybe they forgot some ingredients in today’s pies because our apple & blueberry slices were bland. The apple pie was tart and seemed to lack some sugar and flavor and the blueberry was better but still lacked sweetness and the crust lacked some salt. Each slice was $ 5.50. The pies are served cold but I guess that’s the only way to keep them fresh. Maybe piping hot, they are much better. I’m not sure if I will return.

We recently bought a fresh mulberry pie which was the perfect desert for our family dinner. It was quite a treat to have this delicious home baked pie. I can tell this will not be the last pie our family has for Sunday dinner. Thanks guys!

David is not just an excellent chef but an interesting person to say the least. We chatted so long, we ended up with a parking ticket when we left haha. But it was worth it. The mulberry/blueberry jam is to die for. We just went back and got some more to pour over our homemade gluten free pancakes and they sealed the deal for our breakfast. The shop is small and the selection is specific, so ask yourself, «why is this all I have to choose from?» Answer: «because this is all you need!»

Stopped in this store on our way back home from Redondo Beach pier. They had only 2 types of pies in their display this morning– sour apple pie and mixed berry pie. We got a slice of sour apple pie to go. The pie was extremely sour and made me cringe with every bite. I read from other reviews they only use fresh ingredients with no additives so 3 stars for that. However, I like my pies sweet and scrumptious that will satisfy my cravings. Not a huge fan.

Only tried the chocolate soufflé(even though they sold it to me without the frosting), it was amazing! The chocolate soufflé wasn’t overly sweet. In fact, it would probably have gone really well with some frosting, but I wasn’t too upset because no frosting meant less calories. I’ll be coming back if I crave chocolate soufflé cake!

Finally. A bakery that sells products made from pure food, without nasty additives and artificial ingredients. Today I stopped in to check out this new business after reading about it recently in the local paper. I bought a peach hand pie and a chocolate bar($ 7 total). Could not add a photo of that chocolate bar because I ate it in my car on the short drive home. My intention was to sample just one little bite, but dang… it was good. I am a big believer in the concept of bringing out natural flavors of food in cooking/baking, as opposed to using a ton of spices. Apparently the owner of Hermosa Pie is on board with this as he creates«real food», from scratch. Hermosa Pie & Cake appears to be a one-man operation. The owner bakes everything himself in his kitchen at the bakery. Can’t get fresher than that. There is a huge difference between baked goods manufactured assembly-line fashion… and…baked goods made with pure ingredients in small batches, which I call«cooking with love». There’s a love-ly small garden space adjacent to the bakery. I wandered out there to admire the flowers, and spotted a row of multi-color zinnias. We grew them in IL when I was a kid, but I rarely see them in CA. At the end of summer, I would help my Mom collect seeds from her zinnias, to be used for the next season’s planting. As I write this, I’m flooded with sweet memories. Of zinnias gone-to-seed in the fall, when the Midwest air was crisp. Of Sunday dinners at Grandma’s house, where nothing came out of a can or a box. Now, here I am, amidst palm trees in the fog, appreciating a little independent bakery… where nothing comes out of a can or a box. If you’re looking for a large selection of stuff that’s artificially-flavored & artificially-colored & overloaded with sugar, then Hermosa Pie might not be for you. If you like the taste of pure, fresh food and are willing to pay a little more than you would at a mainstream grocery to get it… then you might like Hermosa Pie. There’s metered street parking here, at the far south end of Hermosa beach(near the Hermosa/Redondo border). And around the corner, is the beach. When the sun hits your eye Like a big cherry pie That’s amore…

Pros: Charming and Cute Bakery Quaint Independent Great location — off 2nd and The Strand on Hermosa Avenue Metered Parking on Hermosa Cons: Limited selection in the afternoons Purchased a three layer chocolate cake slice and was disappointed because it was very dry and flavorless Items averaged $ 25-$ 30 for entire pies and tarts and $ 6-$ 8 per slice for pie or cake In my opinion, very expensive — chocolate cake was $ 8/slice No prices listed on the menu Felt the cake was poorly packaged — arrived damaged Only take out available
