South Beach Tan & Body

I found South Beach Tan on a local website so I decided to check it out. I’m all for a deal but willing to pay for the quality and standard that I would prefer to have. Warm, personal greetings came my way despite of the busy waiting area and being an unfamiliar face. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the establishment and helpfulness from staff. The owner, Gail, was very efficient and willing to answer my questions about all products. Gail did not exude any kind of pushy «salesmanship» tactics and prices of services or products are very reasonable.
My schedule is packed, so if I am willing to spend my money and time at this establishment, South Beach Tan deserves a great review!!!

I needed a spray tan STAT and lucky for me the places I normally go couldn’t fit me in so I called South Beach who got my last minute appointment booked quickly! Abigail, who, sprayed me was friendly and did an excellent job!
I also chatted with the owner as I was checking out and found her to be really fun and friendly. I read another review about her upselling techniques and although I didn’t have that experience, you can’t blame a good entrepreneur for trying! I booked my 2^nd appointment on my way out the door! I love south beach!

Terrible place to tan. Everytime I went the standup and the higher end lay down at least 2 bulbs were always out. I told the manager who acted surprised each time. I was told that my tanning lotions were old and that I needed new ones. I had just bought them a month before. I waited for my turn patiently multiple times for the stand up bed and quite a few times I was forgotten about and someone just coming through the door went before me. I wanted to give this place a chance instead of chain tanning salon and it was more convenient. Now I drive 30 minutes to sun tan city and am much more pleased with beds and service and I’m actually getting a tan.

The BEST tanning company in Richmond hands down!.. My girlfriend gets her tans from here & in less than 15 mins comes out with a beautiful golden tan. She tried it once & has been going ever since… They are very friendly & you feel welcome right when you come in the door. The prices are affordable & that’s what I LOVE about it… If your looking for a tan the is DEFINITELY the place to go for one.

I’ve been going here for a year and a half solely because of the convenience of being on my way home from the gym. It’s reasonably priced, especially if you purchase minutes, and the girls who work here are generally friendly but the owner, who works pretty frequently, just makes me want to cringe every time I’m in there for fear of the inevitable confrontation I’ll have with her. Put simply, she thinks she knows better than you do about your individual tanning experience and will make the executive decision for you.
When I first started coming here, she said my lotion must be really old (I had purchased it within the past 3 months) and insisted it must be a discontinued brand because she had never heard of it. Only when she opened the catalog to see it did indeed exist did she drop it, at which point she decided my goggles must be really old because they’re not the same ones they carry.
Most recently, after sending someone to inform me that there were new bulbs in the bed while I was already in the room, preparing to actually enter the bed, and getting my OK to go my usual full time since I had been quite frequently that past three weeks, she decided to cut back my time for me anyway. I had noted the seemingly short time after I got out and asked her why she had modified my time and at first, she insisted it was because I had never been in a bed with brand new bulbs (in a year and a half… really…) but then, stated she wasn’t letting anyone go full time and so she shortened my time. To end the conversation, she simply said «Byeeee» while she continued her cell phone conversation which, of course, is more important than a customer’s satisfaction.
I really hate to write poor reviews, which is why I have put this one off for so long, but I just want to share my experience (s) regarding truly poor customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this business unless you want your mother moderating and bullying your tanning experience.
