I grew up in Hendersonville and used to go to the Ugly Mug regularly after school to do homework and socialize with friends. Over a decade later, I never visit home without a trip to the Ugly Mug, often several trips. The coffee is top notch (and I drink a lot of coffee); I currently live in NYC and honestly prefer the coffee at Ugly Mug to anywhere I’ve found in the Big Apple. The owners are extremely friendly and kind, and encourage customers to bring in laptops and make themselves at home while enjoying their coffee. Definitely one of the best coffee shops in western NC!

Great coffee, service, and selection! What more is there to want? I’ve lived in the area for 2 years now and I must say, this is my new go-​to coffee place. It’s cheaper than Starbucks, more yummy, and wow– the pastries. All fresh and home made. This place is GREAT! Definitely stop by at least one time if you’re in the area– I guarantee you’ll fall in love.

I love this shop. Not only do they make the best flavored coffee drinks in town, but they also carry the best selection of teas in the area. The shop is always spiffy clean, and I am one to notice the dust. The eclectic space, spurs creativity and thought, just as a good coffee shop should!

The Ugly Mug makes the best latte in town! I love that they have a drive thru and the staff is usually very friendly and will go out of their way to make your drink exactly the way you like it. I have brought out of town guests here and they have never been disappointed. :) update: lately it hasn’t been quite as good, but it’s still better than other places in town

Love The Ugly Mug! Wonderful coffee, lattes. Had a Chai Latte the other day… wonderful!!! Pastries good, too. Love their service, smiling faces. They go out of their way to accommodate their customers! What more could you want!!!

This is my first visit here and it will probably be my last.
There was a Costa Rican coffee here but it wasn’t fresh. There is a teenager here rambling on about her boyfriend like anybody cares in a loud voice.
The chairs are comfortable.

It’s a catchy name, but there’s nothing «ugly» about it. This is one of those coffee shops where you walk in and say, «Man, they don’t make ‘em like this anymore.»
The Ugly Mug has your coffee and lattes, and those other coffee drinks that are like drinking a candy bar, as well as a selection of pastries. Service is good, but I wish this shop had a little more space. The furnishings make it feel homey, but this coffee shop also sports a drive-​thru!
