AMAZING food. Definitely get the hush puppies and benignets. Mouth watering! The small gumbo was chock filled with shrimp, fish, and crawfish and way too big for me to finish. I did, however, not resist to eat two freshly made and heavily powder sugared beignets.

We have great Cajun food in Texas and I had been longing for good Cajun food. Well look no further. This place is awesome. I have been back 8 – 10 times over the last 2 years and have never been disappointed. Excellent quality food each time and the flavors are authentic. The Real Deal!

Well, I like my roux a bit darker. .muddied but, the food is really very good. And, the bread pudding… sheeesh, some of the best period, Louisiana or otherwise, bloody freaking awesome.

I’ve lived in Helena my whole life and honestly this place is the best spot in town. Amazing friendly service and the food will blow your mind. The options are endless and I haven’t found something that I donr like

Good fresh made to order food, I need to get in more. I have visited Café Zydeco 6 times and the food, service and price is good every time.

I’m a fan. The Etouffe was delicious and very filling. The service was very polite and quick. This might’ve been my favorite restaurant while visiting Montana but there not much to say aside from it being worth a visit. I’d strong recommend Café Zydeco to friends.

The best lunch spot in helena. I eat here a few times a month and I have never had a bad meal. The gator is delicious and swap sauce is the boss.

Solid shrimp and grits. Very friendly staff. Possibly the best restaurant in Montana. Quick service. Small, so you might not have a seat during the lunch rush on the weekend.

Outstanding Cajun food but it is very close quarters inside. We happened to order two sides of chips(Cajun & Sea Salt/Vinegar) which were great. But we did not know until after the fact that those order of chips are made fresh. It would have been nice to have been told by the person who took our order that the chips are made to order and it will delay your food from arriving. Had we known, I doubt we would have order those chip since it took us at least 40 minutes to get our food — during thier lunch rush. That being said it does not mean that we won’t be back again. Oh, and I recommend the Hush Puppies — they are to die for!

Very quirky café located in downtown Helena that is Cajun themed. Chicken salad is good but not what you think when it comes to chicken salad. The fried green tomatoes are out of this world. If you are in Helena check this place out after you check out the Montana State Capital first.

This is a picturesque little café in a picturesque town. The owner has a fun sense of style too. There were flowers nestled in coffee cans, neat artwork, and nice music playing. It all blends together perfectly and makes for a good mood while you wait for your food. They had me at good mood and food. I ordered a salad and wanted to try a po’ boy. I asked if the roast beef was homemade and the friendly lady behind the counter said no. She indicated that their pork was; so I went with a Cajun pork po’ boy. The salad came out and it was ok. It wasn’t anything special and the dressing was a little bitter. The sandwich came out and it wasn’t much to look at. Immediately I’m thinking these reviews are inflated… until I take a bite. Dang! It was some of the best pulled pork I’ve ever had. It was tender, jucy, and flavorful. The sauce they had it coated in was delicious too. It was a horseradish garlic aoli. It brought the sandwich together both literally and metaphorically. They take all this goodness and pile it inside a soft, chewy bread bun. It was really something special.

Love Café Zydeco, especially the beignets & big mamou on Saturday mornings! The price is reasonable & the food is always hot & fresh!

After moving to Helena from Hawaii, there were many things I wanted to enjoy, most of them involved food or beer. Hawaii has some great food but it is not the same as the mainland dishes I grew up with. Mainly, I have been on a quest for the perfect pizza, Mexican, wings, steak… standard stuff, but I kept driving by Café Zydeco so I finally wandered in last night. Yeah, it is small, and a lot of people talk about that in their reviews. I have noticed a lot of places in town are small. Small town, small restaurants. Who cares? The servings are HUGE. I shared the leftovers with my spouse the next day and we were both full. The jambalaya I had was too much food. I ordered a large because small usually means tiny. It was full of chicken, shrimp and andouille sausage, and a very decent amount of spice. I like my food spicy and this place understands spicy. The garlic bread they served with it was perfect. Too much butter. Too much spice. Just like they do it down south. It weighed a LOT. I may update this review at a later date. I don’t usually review a place after one visit but this one was easy. The portion size, the price, the quality ingredients, the spice(I brought one of their bottles of hot sauce to the table but never opened it) were enough to write about. I am already planning my next visit. Will I get too much gumbo next time, or a po’ boy that is far too big to finish? My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Very authentic Cajun food. There is seating outside, and a few tables inside. The bread pudding is great. Don’t come if you’re in a hurry, but worth the wait.

Based off of the crawfish Po boy I had at this place, do not go here thinking that you’re going to get cajun New Orleans style seafood.

We pulled up and started walking towards the door when the owner jumped out of his car to come back just for us! He had just closed the place, but was willing to seat & feed us past hours. Never had service like that! The food was great too!

First, I love this place! The reason I only rate Café Zydeco as a 4 star is the lack of space and seating. The food is unmatched in its Po’ Boy-ness! I have been giddy with delight at everything I’ve ordered there, but like I said they need to expand and provide more seating. Love you Zydeco!

The jambalaya is incredible, great flavor to it. The fried green tomatoes also have a great spice mix on them. The place is a bit small compared to what I’m used to but Helena isn’t a huge town so that could be why. I haven’t found a Cajun place this good in Denver and it’s a much bigger city.

One of my favorite lunch spots in Helena! If you don’t know where it is, keep your GPS ready. If you blink, you could miss it. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The gumbo(without rice) is delicious. The sandwiches are MASSIVE. So, why not five stars? As much as I love this place, the physical restaurant is a bit of a bummer. The inside is tiny, tiny, which can make even ordering«to go» food a little bit like competing in a culinary Olympic hurdling event. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Maybe the twisting and dodging helps burn off a few calories.
