Dominion Valley Hair Cuttery

Where to start. I’m from out of town and decided to come here for a trim. I typically get a #1 fade with a trim off the top… about ¼ inch.
I walk in and get a girl from the back. I tell her what I want and she begins with the sides first. That goes smoothly. However as we are talking she begins to trim the top. I notice that she’s taking way more than a ¼ inch off. She tells me she’s doing this to even out my fade. I say… wth. I tell her not to take that much off but by then the damage is done. This damn lady butchered a simple hair cut.
I have no clue how you screw up a fade with a trim off the top but this place found a way to do it. I would highly recommend you skip this damn place. If only I could leave 0 stars… fuk this place

Lack of attention to details. Sloppy edges. Uneven fades. No clean neck lines. Should have know. Not to go here for a men’s haircut but I tried anyway. Won’t be back.

Kim (Salon Manager) cut and highlighted my hair. I’m a bit protective of my hair since it’s short and takes forever to grow. She was professional, put my nerves at ease, most importantly did a great job! I love my cut and color. She had experience and knew where to put the highlights, so you can’t easily tell when my highlights are growing out. I made an appointment to go back to her immediately which I think says a lot.

Farrah and Paula. They both do excellent jobs. Normally every time I get highlights it never seems light enough but These two know exactly what there doing. I give them 5 stars.

I should have known the outcome by the many «signs» that hinted to walk back out the door.
First, there is hair all over the floor throughout the entire salon… even in the waiting area up front, no choice but walk in it!
The person standing behind the desk talking to customers is wearing a shmock with her wet hair in clips and newly dyed pink hair… wasn’t sure she worked there until she asked if I had an appointment. I am a walk in appointment to get my daughter’s hair trimmed. I was told 20 minutes. I waited and at around 40 minutes I was asked if I was in the system. I said yes, we were expected to see someone about 20 minutes ago. She said she could take my daughter, but it would be a bit longer because she had to do a rinse on someone.
She made us wait longer so she could rinse her coworkers pink hair! While she was doing that another stylist became availabe, so we went with her.
She listened to what we wanted done and replied she understood. My main statement I stressed to her is that my daughter is very active and needs to pull all her hair back in a ponytail… keep the bangs long. Guess what happened. .yep bangs that cannot be pulled into a ponytail!!! Hairdresser’s response «it’s cute» I now have a very upset daughter who has to take extra time to pin her bangs back!
Luckily, hair grows back. I will never go to the haircuttery again, not even for my 5 year old son. Disappointed I am ubable to support the local business.
Oh, the hairdresser that was getting her hair dyed had a customer come in. She still had her shmock on and wet hair!

NEVER GET YOUR HAIR CUT HERE!!! Two times I have come here and asked for a 1 on the side and trim the top and leave the bangs but they gave me a buzz cut. I have been there twice and the same thing has happened. They only know how to do buzz cuts. It also cost whopping 18 bucks not including the tip. The so called «stylist» are careless. They ask you your name and act all nice but when it comes to actually cutting your hair they don’t care. I recommend to everyone never to go here thinking «it’s close» and «I’ll just get a trim» because that doesn’t happen.

Since my personal and business philosophies are to live local and shop local, I tried getting my haircut from the shop in Haymarket. Like JeanneMarie stated in her review of 7÷11÷12, I really wanted this place to work. Oh, how I wish I could rave on a positive note about this salon – I can’t. The worst haircut that I have had the misfortune to receive in 40 years! I’ll spare you the gory details. Suffice it to say, I will NOT be returning to this Hair Cuttery.

Get my hair done by several girls at this location. Always do a great job.

I really wanted this place to work as there is really not much to choose from in Haymarket, but in the 15 yrs I have lived here I have never received well one time a hair cut that I did not regret and don’t get me started on getting ones hair colored, terrible just terrible you would do better doing it yourself out of a store bought box

unprofessional — the hairdressers fight over your business even if you have requested someone. Who needs that added to your day? I just wanted a nice haircut. Not worth the hassle.
actually thought about my experience and changed it to a one since I will never go back.
