Tried to eat there when they first opened. Came with my son and was turned away because all the little bistro tables were full and I didn’t have a reservation. Didn’t try to accommodate or offer for me to wait. Seemed stuffy to me and menu didn’t look like anything special or extraordinary. Haven’t tried to go back since, first impressions mean a lot to some ppl…

Breakfast menu has increased since our last visit. High quality food and good prices. Great ambiance and very courteous staff. This morning my husband had the Panni and I the biscuits and gravy. Oh so good!!! Definite improvement on the menu since our last visit and we will be more frequent visitors now. Annie is always very welcoming and genuine. So happy to support awesome local businesses.

The cream chipped beef for breakfast should be illegal! Highly recommend! They have boxed lunches that are perfectly prepared from a selection of sandwiches and soups!

I ordered the brie sandwich and the red velvet cake. The sandwich was good but extremely small, the cake was super boring. The price of the sandwich will probably keep me from coming back. I buy organic and understand the costs of fresh/organic/local, but these prices will not bring me back.

Had lunch here for first time in December. We were promptly greeted at door and service was friendly and good. My only comment is that my small salad was $ 15. Seriously? For lunch? It wasn’t even a big salad. My lunch with dessert was over $ 25. Too much. I try to support local businesses and may return but I will ask in the future what each item costs. The food was good.

I went to AKT Norish for lunch at 11:30. My friend heard this was a very popular place, so we came early. There were plenty of tables and we were promptly greeted and seated. The lunch menu includes many different healthy choices. I chose one of the two specials. The special salad consisted of a base spring mix with diced sweet potatoes, pecans and a tiny bit feta cheese with raspberry vinegrette dressing. It was fresh, but mediocre at best. The New York cheese cake was delicious and the coffee was tatsy. Here’s the thing: the bill was 26.00!!! I was astounded! The salad was 14.95! This was outrageous. I won’t be back.

What kind of lunch place is closed on weekends? I’ll re-review when they stop having bank hours. I don’t know who this place is for but obviously they don’t like selling food. It’s really confusing.

Best chicken salad sandwich I’ve ever had. My wife had the turkey Brie sandwich and it was amazing ! Loaded potato soup was to die for! Northern Virginia needs more places like this! Fresh well made food!

We’ve been here a few times(once for breakfast, twice for lunch) and have always had a nice meal, always on the slower side. Which can be very nice when you want a relaxing meal, to not feel rushed. Today however, I was very disappointed. There were four of us dining. We ordered 2 appetizers and four main courses. There was no problem until we got our main dishes, mine didn’t come. The waitress asked if I even ordered anything, which I had, a bowl of soup. She went to check in the kitchen, but came back with a cup instead and informed me that for some reason that was all they had to give me at the moment. She said she’d fix the bill and if I wanted something else after my soup she’d get it. So, while she was there I ordered a different soup. Considering the mistake they’d made, I figured it shouldn’t take too long, they’d put a rush on getting it out to me so I could continue my meal while everyone else at my table was still eating. After about 15 minutes and seeing about 5 other crocks of soup go to different tables, she came back to our table to ask if I still wanted the soup because the kitchen still hadn’t started it. So, I said no. I wasn’t going to make my entire table sit and wait for me to get the rest of my meal. When they brought the check, they never took off the charge for the bowl of soup. I brought it to her attention, and so she went back to fix it, and charge me for the cup instead. Considering the mistake was clearly on their end, I had expected some sort of apology, or discount for my meal. However, they offered nothing. I usually tip over 20% when I have decent service, by no means do I enjoy ‘stiffing’ my waitress. In this instance however, my waitress should have done more to make things right, simply putting a rush on the second cup of soup would have been more than enough to fix the problem. When they make a mistake, it shouldn’t take an additional half an hour to remedy things.

When Annie first opened I frequented regularly. The food was decent but pricey. I try to support the local businesses in Haymarket. I don’t mind paying top dollar for oatmeal if it helps keep a business in business. However, we were asked to leave our table because she had a reservation for it! Had she seated us and said, «you are welcome to this table for the next hour but we have an 11:00 reservation.» We would have known what we were getting in to. Instead, Annie ordered my clients and me OUT of her restaurant without wanting. Had she waited thirty seconds longer we would have been gone anyway. I can’t believe that I didn’t say anything to her before leaving. I also can’t believe, in hindsight, that I left a nice tip. I think I was in such shock that I had to digest what happened after we left. I was so embarrassed.(I was with clients!!!) I should have been embarrassed for her.

Very cute little French style bistro, with a quaint atmosphere and tasty menu. Nice wine selection too. We enjoyed our food to go and also the friendly staff conversation while we waited. We would gladly stop again next time in the area.

Cute, quiet and quaint. Annie’s as locals call it, has a rustic yet sophisticated menu with comfort food so fresh you feel like you cozied up in Momma’s kitchen at the family table. I will say the prices are high especially on their beer and wine choices, but the food is worth it. Advice… order water and indulge in the fresh delicious menu options!

I love the ambiance of this place — very much like a trattoria in Italy. In America, we are used to everything big… this place is nothing like that. from the size of the restaurant to the servings. I am fine with both. It’s also very clean. Everything is cooked and baked in house. The food and pastry items are delicious. If you like, «simplicity with class» then you will love it. Enjoy the french music while you dine.

Let’s start with the good: this is food that is fresh, farm-to-table and locally sourced. The establishment is small, but the service is attentive. There is not a lot of seating, so this is not the place to take children or large groups. You may have to wait a little to pay. It is on the more expensive side for a lunch place, but I don’t mind paying a little bit more for quality and to support a local small business. However, the pricing of the items seems a bit off, as most items are $ 12 and that applies whether you get a sandwich or salad. Seems like the prices should be more consistent with the menu items. The first time I went, I ordered the turkey, cranberry and brie sandwich which was very good. The potato soup that came as a side was a little salty and thin in consistency. The second time I went, I ordered some takeout — a buffalo chicken salad which was supposed to come with black beans, corn, tortilla chips, tomato, cheddar jack cheese, chicken, romaine lettuce and dressing. Well, imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found 3 fistfuls of lettuce, a few little pieces of tomato, the chicken, some scattered bacon bits and the dressing, and none of the other ingredients! I was disappointed, and the fact that I paid $ 13 for a few fistfuls of lettuce and strips of chicken just added insult to injury. Not sure what happened there. Will update if I have a better experience in the future.

Being from an area where most of the restaurants are farm-to-table, I am very familiar with the concept. My mother had heard a lot about this restaurant, and we decided to try it. The woman staffing the counter and taking orders informed us that it is usually necessary to have a reservation, but that a table was available and she could seat us. Ok, fine, the place is pretty small with 9 tables that I counted. I ordered a grilled cheese with tomatoes and a bowl of vegetable soup. Interestingly, the grilled cheese was made with American cheese… Like the kind you buy at Costco. Not very farm-to-table. The soup was okay, salty, and the croutons on top were not very crispy. I got a very stuffy impression from this place, and generally didn’t feel comfortable. The food was okay, not spectacular, and I don’t think that any of the hype was validated with my visit. I guess I just have higher standards than the locals.

Stopped by today for lunch after seeing some friends post positive reviews of it on facebook. The owners did a remarkable job transforming the old Haymarket Delights ice cream/Lebanese pastry shop into a small, French-style café. The menu is somewhat limited, about a dozen or so sandwich options for lunch, plus a good variety of breakfast options and pastries. Sandwiches come with a nice variety of side options, and the daily specials looked really good though we stuck to the regular menu. The service was very very friendly, and I really liked the open kitchen that allows you to see your food being cooked. The highlight of the meal was the soup of the day, a pumpkin /squash /pear purée. Only suggestions for improvement would be to increase the portion sizes a bit, while everything was tasty and reasonable for the cost($ 12 per entrée), we were both left a bit hungry afterwards. I’d also recommend adding an espresso/cappuccino capability. They don’t yet have ABC, but their application for a permit is posted. Overall, we were quite pleased and I expect to return, though I miss the Baklava.

Been here a few times after my coworkers introduced us to this place. The place is initially amazing: great food, priced perfectly, great service, and it was family owned on top of that. The only down side is that this place is getting so popular that they run out of specific menu items all the time and service and kitchen are getting slow. Basically business is doing too well and they haven’t expanded. Also, I wish Saturdays weren’t reservation only.

My family has eaten here twice since they opened and we have been very happy each time. The food is amazingly fresh and flavorful. The croissants are out of this world. We had the multi grain croissant and it was melt in your mouth good. My husband raves about how amazing the tomatoes are(and he doesn’t like to eat raw tomatoes)! Our 18 month old loves eating here. He cannot get the food into his mouth fast enough. By the end of the meal he has usually eaten half of my meal and is moving on to my husband’s! The menus change weekly so there is always a new surprise. So far we have had a bagel sandwich, tuna salad, frika salad, polo con pollo, and a burger. The restaurant doesn’t seem to over stock their supplies, so often they are out of some menu options which tells us we need to go earlier! The owner is very nice, she always greats us and stops by the table to talk and brings our little one some fruit. We will continue to go here, and look forward to many more unique and local favors.
