This rating isn’t actually for the food, which I enjoyed the first few visits. Also the bartenders are really nice and do a great job. However, on two occasions now we have received our meals with foreign objects in them. First a bread tie/twistie thing, and then the top of a ketchup packet, which says to me they are re-using fries? Ugh.

We live nearby and were regulars, at least twice per month until two years ago. The food has gone downhill drastically. Our last visit was the one that we said, never again. How do you serve a buffalo mozzarella salad with shredded mozzarella pizza topping instead of the correct version of cheese? All three meals were very questionable. Not only was this our spot it was a place we could take visitors or meet friends. The renovations are nice, period. Avoid the food the previous cook must have found a greener pasture.

If you’re going for the bar its fine. Food is very mediocre to poor. The menu appears to be the same boring standard faire they served 30 years ago. Very bland. Not a place I will be revisiting.

Very good local spot… casual atmosphere & One very Nice bar Tender Sue. Lots of fun when Geno sings the tunes of Frank Sinatra or the Band The Most plays enjoyable tunes that you can have a conversation with your dinning partners & dance your meal off. Seating at the bar with a few regulars & Sue is a great night out. The Lobster, Chili & steak tips are fantastic try a few of the daily specials. Main dining room has hosted our big group of 10 plus with no complaints & the meals were delicious.

Sat at bar in lounge, had haddock fish/chips(subbed sweet potato fries). Fish was large portion, very good. Fried onion rings garnish and fries needed another few minutes in fryer. Cole slaw limp, not much flavor. Angel hair pasta with assorted seafood was wonderful, enough to share. We would def return. Another guest’s lobster salad roll was very large, he enjoyed it. Another guest had 8 oz steak on hot stone, she said she loved it.(baked potato looked boring). Her companion had seafood sampler, not sure, looked steamed and huge. Quite inexpensive for what is served.

Steamers tonight! Lobster stew. I can’t get away from the seafood. One of us had the Ahi on the hot stone. That was an experience. A good one!

We stopped at this place for dinner on our way down to Chatham. There was a shamrock on the sign outside so we thought it would have a hint of Irish flair but it ended up having no identity at all. The menu was all over the pace. There was an array of seafood options, random Italian dishes, and classic American cuisine. The only positive of the meal was my garden salad. Apart from that, we were served dinner rolls that weren’t fully baked, my hamburger was overdone, oh and my burger was also served with a dead fly under some of the fries. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.

Spotted in yesterday for lunch and some beers. Decent selection on tap, and you definitely get your monies worth with the lobster salad roll. One word, huge. The portions on every dish I saw come out of the kitchen were huge. Definitely seems like a good place to go if you’re hungry and don’t want to spend a ton of money. Took a star off for the gross bathroom, and the creepy local pounding drinks and talking to himself. Would go back and recommend it if you’re in the area.

Went here late on a weeknight based on reviews and when 1st restaurant we tried didn’t work out. It was 9:00 and our dinner order of 3 got stuck behind a party of 14! I don’t run a restaurant but if I did, I would’ve gotten the 3 out before the 14. Food arrived very hot, which was good, but the medium burger was much closer to well-done. Dinner, atmosphere were average, but not worth our return.

What a great place for a casual drink or maybe a great steak on the stone grill concept! ! Never been to a place that give you your own stone to cook your chicken or steak right at the table:) will go back for sure

Been going here for years. After the remodeling went last season and was disappointed. Thought we give it another try to start this season. My wife had the Sea Bass special for $ 22. The serving size was at best 3oz served with a lot of rice. Brought it to the house’s attention fell on deaf ears. Guess they cut down in on the portion sizes to help pay for the remodeling. With so many good restaurants available Jake Rooney is off our list for good.

Still love this place as much as I did the 1st day I went — Just had to update people and advise on getting the«Ahi Grilled» Tacos on the app list — so — so good and a great price of $ 13.99– It’s a Meal and a deal!

Great staff, great food. I had the steak tip this time around. They were perfect. They have an app size serving of baby back ribs that will make you want to slap your mama. Delicious lobster chowder. Newly renovated with larger bar. A local staple. I come here regularly with my father.

Great food & great service! Cooking your food on a hot stone grill is a hoot & our waiter did a great job making sure we had everything we needed! Had the Mixed Grille and it was delicious — good portion sizes so don’t fill up on the warm rolls they drop off while you wait.

Can’t review the food just the service. Upon delivery of our tables drink order an older tatted up server promptly spilled red wine all over 2 of the people at our table. She quickly ran away without a word spoken and retuned roughly 3 minutes later with some soda water, our guests went to the bathroom to try to salvage their clothes(tops, bottoms and purses) and we didn’t see our server again for about 12 minutes. She didn’t help clean up the wine on the table and chairs or apologize to the party right away. She had other tables to sabotage. Fortunately, a bartender acting as a manager because there were no managers on duty felt«real bad» and offered to pick up the dry cleaning tab. Thanks dude. Since our group wasn’t really feeling jake rooneys anymore we decided to leave but don’t worry we still got charged for the spilled wine, hey you can’t get reimbursed for your dry cleaning and comped a 6 $ wine. God bless!

First, the«pros»…the lobster stew was delicioso… with big chunks of lobster in it.(this is no bisque with ground up lobster). Yummy! My friend’s Prime Rib was enjoyed by her… looked awful bloody to me — recently slaughtered out back. Twice baked potato was not a plus on this plate either. Now the cons: We ordered nachos as well — with chicken on it. I would never order this again… dry and… well, just not good. The beef sliders –listed as «angus» — were mini dry tasteless burgers. I would not get this again. My friend and husband smelled the other Unilocaler-mentioned moldy smell in the restaurant… but I didn’t get that whiff. As for wait-staff — ours was a little wet-behind-the-ears! Overall, the lobster stew was good enough to go back for but will not venture outside this one menu item again.

If you have mold/mildew allergies, don’t go to Jakes! Based on Unilocal reviews, we decided to give it another try after a disappointing visit two years ago. Within 5 minutes of being seated, my allergic reaction exploded and we had to leave. Maybe it’s time to change the carpets Jake! Alas I can’t comment on the food!

I really like this place and it is open in the off season too. The food is good, the menu varied and the prices are reasonable. Having been here several times this year already, I can say the service is always friendly and efficient. Our visit Wednesday evening was no exception and while we were a little bit of a rowdy crowd, Paul(our waiter who looks like Jason Stratham’s younger brother) was patient and took good care of us! One thing you should try if you like steak is the Stonegrill! They bring this red-hot stone out and you cook your steak to perfection right on your plate! I have never seen this anywhere else!

I love coming here because it seems like it is mostly locals. Not touristy at all and has good, well priced food. Trivia on Thursdays is always a good time, as is The Most on Fridays. The average age is around 55 – 60.

I have made deliveries to the kitchen, it is the filthiest kitchen I have ever encountered. I have never eaten here, well, because of the filth in the kitchen. Either they have friends in town government who ignore the conditions or the town never inspects. I would not eat there on a dare.
