Phở soup was tasty. Will try bang mi next visit. A popular neighborhood spot. Try Phở 68 sometime. Excellent broth.

I tried the chicken and beef banh mi, both were equally delicious. Pickled veggies, a lightly buttered baguette, perfectly cooked & seasoned meat. Amazing. They have a full menu with phở and other options as well. The interior is a little plain, but not bad. The only thing holding them back from 5 stars is the service, which is pretty minimal. They give you a glass of water with your meal & don’t really seem interested in taking any other drink orders. Regardless: come for the banh mi, you won’t be disappointed.

My wife, 12-yr old son, and I are completely new to Vietnamese food. On a whim while just passing by, we stopped here and got the most straight-forward of items: spring rolls, egg noodle w/chicken Phở, and rice noodle w/beef Phở. We all said: WOW! Huge bowls, very tasty, big thumbs up from us all! I got the same story from the main waiter man as Anna E… very nice people. I have nothing to compare our meal to, but yes, I would go back again.

I’m hooked on the following phở: spicy beef with vietnamese ham and rice noodle soup It’s hands down the best phở I’ve had in my life!

This is the best phở and banh mi I have had. I’ve eaten at tons of other places, including Phở 501, Phở Vietnam, Phở Boston, Phở 88, Phở Saigon, and more(places in and around DC and Boston, for instance). Mai Lan has the best, most flavorful broth and good quality steak in its phở, and its banh mi has amazing flavor and perfect balance. The restaurant does NOT look nice, inside or outside, and the service is curt. You will only get one glass of water unless you flag them down for a refill. Who cares? That’s not what you should come here for.

Went there as they were closing for the night over a weeknight. They brought us in. Ordered Spring Rolls. They were HUGE! Banh mi was tasty too but looked like Less Meat. Will try again and see if their PHO is good or not.

One of our favorite phở locations in Hartford/West Hartford area and a good value for your money. I believe it’s a husband and wife who own this joint and they work pretty well together. The husband comes out and takes your order while the wife is whipping up the tasty phở in the kitchen. Our favorite dish is the duck with egg noodles and it’s so flavorful. Though my only recommendation is to try to enjoy this dish earlier on in the day when the duck may be more succulent. We’ve tried the other phở’s, such as chicken with egg noodles and beef with noodles. All delish, though I want to know how to use the spices on the table to make it a tad spicier. I wish I spoke Vietnamese! We’ve also tried banh mi here and it was pretty decent — my first one!!!

I would like to jump straight to the main points I’d like to make here. Service: we were offered 2 glasses of water 15 min after we sat down. It was pretty busy with locals and the server didn’t pay that much of attention to us. I guess the restaurant is known to the locals and the business is family owned, that’s why the service is rather lacking. Food: the appetizers came after the main dish which was came around 20 min after. I ordered seafood egg noodle. I asked them to not add squids which they did, but on top of that they still didn’t put any fish balls in the bowl which was listed in the description. This was a huge disappointment. I definitely prefer other vietnamese restaurants over this one!

In 2009, my first year in CT, this was a Vietnamese restaurant called Mini Saigon. Several years later, it became Huong Viet. And a few years after that it became what it is now, Mai Lan. The owners speak Vietnamese and Cantonese as they are from Vietnam but their family is originally from China. It’s cool to speak Cantonese with them(I am fluent) and they’re a very nice family. I’ve been a few times now for bahn mi, phở, and beef stew. Their bahn mi sandwiches are the great and I’d come again and again for that — especially the pork. Others can be a little dry at times, but the pork has always been so moist and flavorful. Their phở is good and their beef stew is incredible but I’ve felt very thirsty after having both. Get the sandwiches. You can get them at Kien Market too. Same street, same owners.

This is a restaurant I have visited in the past. Previously Huong Viet. I found the gentleman who waited on me to be very enthusiastic and helpful. I enjoyed my meal. The place was very clean!
