Just an update: we’ve been here a half dozen times and really love it! The service is great, the food is always fresh and delicious… On Saturday nights they have authentic live music! So much fun.

Excellent customer service and it’s something you would not expect in killeen. Rather in down town austin. My wife had a delicious meal and I had the gyro plate. The price was easy on the wallet so I am unsure the reviews saying price was steep. Overall great experience and we will be back

Acropolis is a great alternative to the many chain restaurants in the area — a lovely and quaint restaurant that is on the smaller size, featuring delicious Greek cuisine. Authentic feel and cozy atmosphere. Great wine collection, including Greek wines, which can be hard to find. They do offer samplings, if you want to try a wine before purchasing a glass, which is very nice. Highly recommend the dolmathes(stuffed grape leaves). Also, the salads are huge — I love the Village Salad; the tabbouleh is also a favorite. Another appetizer I recommend is the flaming saganaki. Fun to order when you’re in a group. Spirited presentation(«Opa!») and tasty. A+ for service as well — friendly and attentive, and well versed on the menu(they give great recommendations).

I went there today for the first time. We have been away from the area for 3 years and I’m so happy Killeen is getting some diversity in food choices. This place is good! I got the hummus, chicken skewers(sorry, can’t remember correct name) with rice and roasted cauliflower. The cauliflower… so good. I contemplated ordering more to bring home. The portion size was good, I’m eating my leftovers as I type this. Everything reheated well including the pita bread. Will defiantly be back.

Well there goes another good restaurant down the drain. They are under new ownership and they made alot of changes with the food. They have some of the same cooks but the food isn’t at all what it used to be. I used to eat here all the time. I would always get tabbouleh, roasted cauliflower and tzatziki with pita bread. The only thing that tastes the same is the tzatziki. The tabbouleh was dry and bland. I had to take it to go and fix it at home. They put this new sauce on the cauliflower and it taste like a blend of vinegar and something else. It’s awful. If I do actually come back I will only be ordering tzatziki to go.

AH-MAY-ZING… After being overseas for nearly a decade, I had given up hope we would ever experience anything remotely as delicious as the Greek food we had grown accustomed to. This place is the BEST that we have tried! definitely our new favorite! Pretty good portions, my only suggestion would be to increase the pita bread portions when people order it as an appetizer.

I came on Saturday, late afternoon, and there were a few tables occupied. I ordered the Saganaki appetizer. It was not at all what I expected or what I am used to when I’ve enjoyed Saganaki in the past. I’m accustomed to haloumi cheese, different texture, and a richer, garlic-lemon flavor. That said, it was still enjoyable. Try it with an open mind. Since this was a late lunch for me, I just went simple and ordered the traditional gyro wrap — very good. Love their tzatziki sauce, so I might have liked a bit more of it. Lemon soup was divine — mild flavor with carrots and orzo pasta. Watermelon tea is quite refreshing! I had an overall good experience, my waitress was very sweet and just attentive enough, without being overbearing, but never leaving me wanting for anything. I would definitely go back when I’m in the area again.

The Gyro Plate will have you coming back for more. I would have given this place a 4 star review because the service hasn’t been the best but this last trip the service improved drastically and the food is sooo damn good. It’s good enough to trump bad service. I’ve never had a single item I didn’t enjoy.

This is a very cute and comfortable place to grab a quick bite. My hubby and I LOVE their gyros and their sauces. Hummus, tatziki, it’s all good! Great customer service at a great price. Can’t be beat.

Have to go back for the Nutella Cheesecake. Unfortunately they were out :( The pita bread and dip was so good. I had the lamb shank. I wasn’t a huge fan of the sauce on it. We didn’t have the greatest experience because we walked in five minutes to closing( Unilocal lied about their hours) and they were in the process of putting everything away and closing shop. The customer service was great though and we definitely want to go back and give it another try. I want a gyro wrap this time!

My husband had the sampler plate and that is the reason for the two stars. It was good, flavorful, and reminded us of the Greek available in Europe. However, the poor ambiance, slow and inattentive service, and portion sizes were disappointing. Here’s a free tip– nobody wants to hear your life story or your music on your iPhone while they are out to eat. I will throw in an extra one– Servers in Europe don’t expect more that a 2-Euro tip($ 3.75) and provide better service. Try to care that your guests enjoy their visit and you will receive a better tip.

I’m sad to only give 3 stars, last time it was amazing. This time the service was very bad. Didn’t check in on me at all and my food was cold and just not very tasteful. had the Greek sampler and things were cold that weren’t susposed to be and some was very good. Overall I am very disappointed. I will be back maybe on slow nights they are better. Tonight was a little busy and they were short staffed. Definitely worth another try though. The baked feta was delicious. And the steak was very good too. Nothing was discounted but I’m actually ok with it because I am taking the rest home and the owner did apologize personally. I appreciate that.

We came in for lunch and it was busier than we’ve ever seen it during dinner time. I had to hit the road for work and seeing that it was so crowded I was worried I wouldn’t have time to have lunch. Our waitress however did her best to expedite our order and get us in and out quick. She was very aware of our situation and was quite accommodating.

Usually things right near an army base are not that good. This place was AMAZING! It is hidden in Harker Heights and is such a gem. We love greek food. Traditional greek food and we were not disappointed one bit. The service was amazing. Our server made great recommendations and made sure we were well taken care of. Greek beer and greek wines to choose from. The atmosphere was romantic and relaxed at the same time. I found a new wine there called Mavrodaphne of Patras, Kourtaki. It is almost like a red port, full of so much fruit and flavor. The food was dynamite. The quality and flavor was all there across the board. We honestly can’t wait to go back and try some more of there menu. If you are in the area and you want a really nice meal, this is the place to go. It seems like off of Fort Hood its a lot of chain restaurants that all taste the same. This place is different and really exceeded our expectations. No need to drive to Austin! — — – Update: We went again(July-2015) and the service was good. The food was good, but not great as I remembered. We had the beef pita for an appetizer. We each had the lasagna main dish with two sides. I felt like everything had been cooked really long ago. It just didn’t have a fresh taste to it, almost like they heated up my food in the microwave. I was really disappointed. We will come and try it again, since places(like people) can have an off day. So, we hope that we will have another homerun experience like the first time.

Wanted to try something different. Saw some coworkers there so it must be good, asked to see what they had. I end up getting a mediteranean wrap with pesto spread and potatoes. Delicious.

I’m not exactly sure what the hype is about this place. Killeen Daily Herald touted this restaurant as «Voted Best in Central Texas 2015: Greek Cuisine.» In theory, I can see why such a huge accolade could easily be derived. However, if you think about it, there are only about four other Greek spots in the area and those are all little holes in the wall that mainly serve gyros — not much competition to speak of. But hey, if you wanna toot your own horn, by all means, toot away. The inside dining area was very nice and had a few tables occupied on this particular visit. Our server was friendly, attentive, and informative about the menu. We started off with an appetizer called the Four Dips which consisted of: roasted pepper and regular hummus, tzatziki sauce, and melitzano salata. Out of all four, I liked the roasted pepper the best. The pita bread used as an accompaniment for the dips were very good, but I would’ve loved to also have pita chips for variety — you pretty much get tired of eating just bread after a couple of bites. My major gripe about this place was the extremely long wait time for our main entrees. I’m not sure if this is the norm here, but it appeared other patrons were impatiently waiting for their food as well. It took about 40 minutes for our food to finally arrive and when I received my order, I was not impressed. If any restaurant makes me wait this long to eat, I would expect the final product to be absolutely amazing and worth my time. Unfortunately, my salmon was overdone, dry and unappealing. The side of rice was bland and unremarkable. It was my first time trying dolmathes(stuffed grape leaves) and I won’t knock them for it because I’m not sure what it’s supposed to taste like — all I knew that it just wasn’t my thing. On a positive note, my boyfriend really loved his pasta dish(forgot the name). While we were waiting for our food, I couldn’t help but notice so many staff members just standing around doing nothing. One male server in particular, looked really bored to death. Maybe if they could hire an extra cook, it might speed things up a bit around here. Not sure if I’ll give Acropolis a second chance — perhaps, IF it was worth my time. But, on second thought… nah.

Definitely coming back to this place. I’m used to the gyro shop on wheels style places in Germany so sitting down for a meal was interesting. They need French fries or something besides potato wedges. I got the gyro plate and wasn’t expecting it to be a build your own sandwich. The meal was great and filling.

This is a hidden gem of the Fort Hood/Killeen/HH/CCove region. This place is located by the Sam’s club and adjacent to an ok pizza joint. One has the option to call ahead to pick up an order, wait for an order to go, or to eat in the restaurant. Typically, my wife and I usually eat at the restaurant. Each meal is roughly $ 7 – 12. The lamb Gyro is my favorite with their greek salad and roasted cauliflower. For an appetizer, check out the baked feta as this meal is delicious! Lastly, the waiters and waitress are friendly and very accommodating. Check this place out and bring friends.

This was an extraordinary and unique dining experience for us. We had an amazing time here, the food and service were excellent. These meals are prepared with care and attention paid to detail. The environment was lovely as well. The servers really knew the menu and offered some daily specials. First we started off with the Meze Plate which included some of the appetizers. The hummus had a good balance and was enjoyed with soft pita bread. The dolmathes which are stuffed grape leaves, were very rich and tangy. Both the spanakopita/meatpita wedges were outstanding, the phyllo dough perfectly applied and baked to flakey perfection. The moussaka was the best I’ve ever had, flawless layers of savory goodness. I had the gyro plate which required assembly but contained some high quality ingredients. If you are a vegetable lover, this is hands down the best restaurant for preparation. Our vegetable sides included roasted cauliflower which was perfectly cooked. This was the best eggplant side I’ve ever had in terms of flavors and preparation. All the grilled veggies that came with our appetizer were nicely grilled and seasoned. Now this is was I call 5 star epic!!!

We ordered gyro plates to go. We clearly didn’t order correctly(or maybe it was an off night at the restaurant?). The«meat»(we ordered beef) was questionable, and the salad and potatoes were«eh.» Based on all the awesome Unilocal reviews, we’ll definitely try this restaurant again(and I’ll be sure to update my rating).
