My husband and I dropped by for Restaurant Week. We sat at the bar and we had an IPA while my husband made his decision on what to have. I had previewed the Restaurant Week offering and already knew that’s where I was headed – a delmonico steak and wahoo loin with garlic fried potatoes and pimento goat cheese bacon wrapped asparagus. The special also included pork empanadas as an appetizer, and powdered sugar and caramel drizzled specialty doughnuts as dessert. My husband ordered a seared crab cake and shrimp plate with broccoli and garlic mashers. My app came out with a pesto dipping sauce, great complement to the crispy empanadas. My steak was perfectly rare and was covered with Carmelized pickled beets(awesome surprise!). Beside my steak were 2 generous pieces of wahoo. This was some seriously tasty food! My potatoes came out a little late and I was already full, so Irina at the bar boxed my leftovers and my dessert for me to take home. I could make this a really long review, but just trust me on this: go there. Get a beer and some food. You’ll be glad you did.

Been one time, it was definitely a drinking spot the night we were there no one else was eating at all. Food was okay but not really special. My fries tasted as if they were cooked in old fishy oil. Desperately needs a makeover to the interior. I love non-chain places so I really want all of our local places to do well and others seem to like this place. I am hesitant to go back except for bottled beer.

Decided to come here for lunch last Saturday. I didn’t plan on the drive being faster than I thought, and so got there quite early(sorry!). waited in the parking lot for them to open. We went inside and the interior was pretty dark. There’s a lot of decorations on the wall, which was interesting to look at; tvs playing sports and country music playing. The server was really nice and checked on us often. I ordered the crab salad(salad with crab meat) I believe it was. was surprised at how large it was, when it came out. It was very filling and there was plenty of real crab meat to enjoy my greens with. Would recommend this place to others, and will return if I’m in the area next!

Had a great lunch. The servers were great and knowledgeable about new beers. The chef even came to ask if we enjoyed our lunch. Good background music, too.

Visiting from out of town. Had the fantastic swordfish tacos on Monday. Came back for the spicy mac & cheese with catfish and IPA battered pickles. Wow. That was excellent. Extemely good service with very knowledgable servers. The chef spent time talking to us both nights. Its obvious that he’s proud of his artwork and has fun sharing his product with anyone that walks thru the door.

On our way to a comedy show we decided to get something to eat. Because of the pending snowstorm a lot of places were closed. I used my trusty Unilocal app to find local seafood spots and saw this one. Gave them a call and they were open. This is definitely a locals hangout. Nothing fancy. This place was not too big but cool. They definitely have their regulars. It was just that type of vibe in the place. The food was much better than Itight it would be. e started off with dry rub wings I think it was Old Bay seasoning. They were cooked perfectly but could have used a little bit more flavor. She had the shrimp and I had sword fish tacos. They were outstanding. I really did not know this place was located here and if I ever find myself in that area I would definitely stop back in and pay them a visit.

Do yourself a favor and stop by old towne tavern. It’s fine if you just want to have a drink but you deserve to have a meal. Killer crab cakes! I also love the bourbon shrimp appetizer, but today I tried the catfish and Mac and cheese special and things will never be the same. Catfish was so perfectly fried and the Mac and cheese was like none I’d had before. Such a great spot.

I came on a late Wednesday evening and the place was pretty empty. There was band on stage with a violin player and they were really really good. Our waitress was extremely friendly and gave great recommendations. They do not have a drink menu but a full stocked bar and can make pretty much anything you ask for. I had a Bahama mama and my friend had a lemon drop martini. Her drink was so strong she had to add a little more simple syrup. My drink was amazing not too strong and not watered-down. I had the wings that were Brined and you could taste it! Amazing! The sweet hot and Bourbon barbecue. My friend had the crab dip with toasted pita bread also very good. I cannot wait to go back. Nice laid-back bar atmosphere. Oh I almost forgot I also had the clam chowder. I’m from Maryland so I’m very picky about my seafood but this was one of the best takes on clam chowder I have ever had! It was creamy but not thick had lots of vegetables, sick potatoes and topped with bacon. A must try

The tuna appetizer was the bomb as was the fish and chips We first ordered the sweet and hot shrimp appetizer which was so delicious. Then we have the tuna appetizer which was even more delicious everything was served at the perfect time. Danielle and Christine were unbelievably nice and always check in to see if we needed something else. The chief Corey was very accommodating made the food perfectly and made sure to come out and see us.

At first glance you might overlook this little dive bar, but of you want some truly excellent food come on in. We started with beer battered pickles with house ranch; the right balance of pickle and crunchy. The husband had the seafood wrap(which was huge) with fries; stuffed full seafood and slaw. I had the fried green tomato catfish sandwich and it was awesome! Served on marbled rye with goat cheese, every bite was a party in my mouth. Great service as well. Will be returning.

In the mood to eat fried fish! Discovered this small little, neighborhood, friendly atmosphere place. Nautical in décor, big in heart, and friendly in nature! Looking for good food? Small town place? Great atmosphere? Super food? This is your place. Definitely a must to try out!

A tavern, indeed. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Just not what I expected. It’s dark inside. And like another world. The décor was on point with a nautical theme. There’s a stage, because they have live music nights. There are two pool tables. Ten tables and about seven televisions with plenty of seats at the bar. But not this particular early Saturday afternoon. Every seat was filled AND half the dining room. So popular. Still, service didn’t suffer at all. And that’s impressive since there was only one server, Christine, who also tended bar. She’s terrific. Their speciality is seafood. So I ordered seared scallops. They came with very purposely lumpy mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts that had been cooked with bacon. They were also served with a ramekin of melted butter which I only used to try to help the weird mashed potatoes. Before I half-enjoyed my entrée, I KILLED the crab dip. I feel like when a place serves pita bread with their crap dip, you know it’s going to be amazing. There’s no better accompaniment to crab dip and what made theirs the greatest is that the pita bread was seasoned and nicely baked. And the ratio was perfect. I was stuffed before the scallops arrived. I will return. Who knew Phoebus had so many little gems?

The seafood here is delicious! I recently ordered the fried oyster Po Boy and my husband ordered the Grouper Rueben. Both were equally tasty and satisfying. The atmosphere is a bit intimidating and off-putting, but the servers are always so friendly and hospitable. The restaurant is relatively small – there is a bar, a couple of pool tables and a few dining tables.

This review is for breakfast only. The portions and flavor were good. My issue is that as several people have mentioned, the food was served cold. Potatoes were cold and it detracted from the dining experience. The coffee was not very good. On a good note, service was excellent. I might give dinner a try. But I won’t be back for breakfast.

So, we’ve(husband & I) decided to try out this spot based off of Unilocal’s reviews. At first, I was skeptical because I am not a big seafood person. But, OMG… I have been converted!!! We got there and the ambiance was perfect for our date night. It wasnt too crowded/busy. It was a very laid-back atmosphere. They have live bands starting at 830pm. The staff were phenomenal. Our waitress, Jenn, was superb! She made the whole experience more pleasurable. The food was to die for! I have never had what I ate that night — Swordfish Tacos, but after hearing good reviews and who can possibly not try a swordfish tacos when the pictures taken by other Unilocalers look sooooooooooo deliciously good! I decided to be adventurous, so I also tried their fried oysters and clamstrips. They were just as delicious. I was«seafood» out that night… was in a Seafood coma! Love it. We will be coming back!

We found this pub in the nice little town of Phoebus five minutes from the VA Hospital easily off route 64 and decent parking It was lunch time and there were about four tables and a couple of blokes at the bar. You enter the establishment and have two pool tables at you right and an elevated multi carpeted stage on the left. Service and bar is actually in the back. The initial impression might intimidate a family passing through or visiting a family hero at the VA but half of the tables seated were families with young children. Very clearly a family place during the day and judging by the billiards, nine beers on tap and live music stage, an adult hangout at night. Unfortunately we aren’t staying overnight or I would love to review it’s after hour offerings We started with blue crab balls. Four Deep fried crab cake bites which were excellent. I’m a clam soup foodie so I ordered their New England style. Not the best I’ve had. I give it 5 out of ten. Others might disagree with me, but I’ll stay on my quest to find a Ten I ordered clam strips as I was promised they were of the big juicy variety(not frozen tiny type. You know the kind that ruin anyone from ordering clams trips in the future). The waitress bought me some free fried oysters the Kitchen prepared in error or she saw I was Unilocaling. Either way I’m not one to pass on free food(I’m using a 25% Unilocal discount also) and thanked my waitress. The oysters are worth the visit! I kid you not. The clam strips were great also My wife always orders crab cakes in seafood operations like this one. She rated her cakes at a reluctant 8(she is not sharing in my Unilocal fanaticism). If management is reading this here’s some feedback: two crab cakes = two Dixie’s of tartar sauce. Something quickly remedied by our friendly waitress(she bought two more tartars actually). The portions were more than we could eat and got doggie styrofoam for the leftovers. I would comeback especially to see the night time experience. Waitress said their entertainment calendar is on their Facebook page. But if your looking for a good value good meal I think you would be pleased. Warning: Don’t let the first«pool hall» impression deter you from the good eats.
