The Point was nearly on-point, however I would not recommend this restaurant for lunch. Pros: sweet potato fries, fried pickles, atmosphere. Cons: up-charge for sweet potato fries, bread too thick on sandwiches, no salt and pepper on table, and friendly-but-slow kitchen service(one cook working). I’m sure it’s an excellent spot for nightly music and drinks. Just a few things that made lunch undesirable.

Stopped into The Point for lunch after a business meeting at the VA. This place is s gem. It’s a very clean and fun/quirky atmosphere. My service was prompt abs excellent. The chopped salad with free range chicken was exactly what I was looking for today. This is my third visit. Each time I am more impressed with the evolution of this lovely little joint. Keep up the great work. I will be back.

Seriously the best service and food me and my boyfriend have had in a long time. We aren’t from the area but not far away and intend on traveling the distance for this experience specifically. The chef cannon who was such a brilliant culinary shining light was sitting out on the patio with us and unknowingly bought us cheesecake for our positive praises and being honest about competition falling short of point’s standard of food and drink. must return soon ! The owner Kat was awesome as well she was outside making sure the customers were happy.

Two stars only because our waitress was sympathetic. We arrived with no reservation. Seated out back. No problem. Plenty of drinks. But 90 minutes later, still no food. Hungry and needing to get to Amy Schumer, we had to leave. I wish they had been better prepared. Nice people — we were not charged for all of our drinks — but as I write this from the back of a Subaru(the very back) — I am STARVING!

Mosied on down for pint night on Thursday! Buy a pint of beer. get the breweries pint glass for a penny! Can’t beat that! We were expecting the bar to be busy but it wasn’t at all. I’m assuming it was just an off day because the service is great and I love the vibe! See ya next thursday!

In town for work. Enjoyed the interior. Got the Cajun shrimp Mac N Cheese and roasted veggies both were delicious. My friend got the veggie curry bisque and Winter salad. Both good as well!

The atmosphere walking in was pretty laid back and right away the service was friendly and helpful. We went on a Saturday night at 7 and got a table for 4 right away, but I’m guessing we got lucky given the place was modestly crowded. The menu had a little bit of everything on it and my girlfriend got the Land and Sea(steak and scallops) and I had the Winter Risotto. The steak was cooked properly as ordered and the Risotto was undercooked slightly, but the winter vegetable medley was incredible. We had the fried pickles for the appetizer, which were good and next time I’m ordering the Beet Tots. I’m not a drinker but the other three ordered beer and wine from several local breweries and they were pleased. We had an overall solid experience and would definitely go back.

Excellent food! All fresh, and sourced locally, never had a bad meal here. The staff is all amazing, very attentive, super friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu and everything about it. Bar is great, awesome mixed drinks, and a local tap selection as well as your normal domestics/imports. Also have a great weekly program of different events from paint night to pint night, and karaōke once a month. Overall, I would hands down give this place and the folks who make it go, 5 stars everytime!!!

Enjoyed dinner here on Friday night. We had family in from in from out of town and wanted to treat them to a great local dinner. We came in and were seated quickly even though we hadn’t made a reservation(we got lucky). Our waitress recognized my husband and I from the other times we had been into the restaurant, which was awesome. I had the grilled Caesar salad which was amazing, my mom had the lobster mac and cheese which she really enjoyed, my son had the crab cakes which were delish and my dad had the fresh catch with fries. He raved about the fries! There was plenty of food and everyone enjoyed it. I was proud to have such a great local place to take my family! Keep up the great work!

Very nice establishment with a great menu selection. Enjoyed the gumbo made with shrimp, andouille sausage and okra with a fritter rice ball that was very different but seasoned to perfection! Would visit again to try everything on the menu! The service was great and the prices are reasonable.

In Hampton on business and our partners took us to dinner at The Point. Trying to be fair, so giving them a 3 star instead of the 2 star I think they deserve. Service is the only thing that saved them. Pros: Waitress was nice and friendly. She gave us several beer samples since people didn’t know what they wanted. Food was good, but see below for the cons. Cons: Not sure if going through an ownership change or an identity crisis, but there was a lot wrong with this place. First, the menu was undergoing a «change» that week is what we were told. Half the items weren’t available, other items were different than described. In talking to other locals, evidently the«change» has been happening for quite a while. There were six of us and three different people placed orders only to have the waitress come back and tell us the items weren’t available. Since half the menu wasn’t available to start with, this was a bit alarming. There was lobster mac on the menu that was now shrimp mac which is fine, but the price was the same? There was a «band» setting up to play. They started the same song no less than 15 times, played a half verse, and then stopped. A few minutes later did the same. Either they only knew the start of the song or they couldn’t agree on the tune. We ended up leaving quicker than expected because it was nerve racking. Might have been something special, and maybe it will be again, but with lots of other options, won’t chance it again.

I absolutely loved this place… it’s across the street from Mango Mangeaux where I was originally going for lunch but it was to crowded. The setting feels more like dinner for two than anything else. The staff treated us like regulars! I ordered a burger it was fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend for dinner date.

Excellent, innovative American coastal food. The house blend cheese(an American variant) perfectly complements the chuck-and-short-rib ground beef burger. The shrimp and grits is delicate where it needs to be and robust when that is right. The fries were so perfectly seasoned, they didn’t need any additional assistance(although the stone ground mustard was very nice). My wife’s coconut cake was as coconuty as she could ask for, and buttery as well. The service at the bar was very good, which was good, because the place is tiny. Make reservations.

We popped by during a stop in Phoebus and were greeted warmly. Always love the farm to table concept and a good selection of craft beers. It was great to hear the attentive staff talk knowledgeably about the food and see a great selection of drafts plus well stocked bar. It was between lunch and dinner on a weekday, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Drinks were good, food was better. Overall very charming. Also, lobster mac and cheese. Yum. Plenty of lobster, could have used a touch more cheese.

I’m starting to venture more and more out into the penisula, so I decided to try this spot out with a friend. I must say that this was a very great find in the Pheoubus area. When I was sittining at the bar waiting for my friend, the lovely Mariah hooked me up with a Costal Coktail and a Point Pear Lemonade, both of which were delicious. She also affirmed to me that I should get the Pastrami Turkey as my entrée. When my friend arrived, we moved over to a table where we were helped by Jean Paul who was excellent. He was helpful, knowledgeable about the product, and very fun to talk to. Now back to the food… The sweet potato fries were delicious, especially paired with the sweet dipping sauce. The Pastrami Turkey was everything. The turkey was so tender and juicy, and when paired with the steamed brussel sprouts and warm German potato salad it was a knockout. After dinner Jean Paul suggested a decadent slice of their triple chocolate cake with a peanut butter infused frosting, and it was an awesome was to end the experience. The food and service were worth every penny I paid for. All in all, The Point is where swanky meets divey, and I can see myself spending more and more time here.

There’s something cool about the atmosphere here and I don’t know what it is. But if I lived in Phoebus or Hampton, I’d want to hang out every Friday night. Lots of good options on the menu. Not a lot of appetizers that appealed to me, though. And I wasn’t hungry enough for a full entrée so I thought about trying the pimento cheese. Then our server, JP, confirmed that this was an excellent selection. He was great. He even made a pot of decaf, for the Irish Coffee — one of their amazing cocktails. The Point was on point.

What a find in Phoebus! You have to love farm to table places, and this one is serious(the names of the local farms they have sourced from are prominently displayed when you walk in the door). Friendly staff and knowledgeable servers. We went for lunch and it wasn’t crowded, despite the bridal shower that was going on when we were there. It’s a small place though, so I can imagine it getting crowded quickly on a weekend night. As for the food — the caprese was a bit underwhelming. The tomatoes were not the greatest, surprising this time of year(under ripened). It would have been so much better with a sprinkling of some flaky sea salt and some cracked pepper. The balsamic reduction was nice though, and there was a good amount of basil. I LOVED the burger, cooked medium and obviously handmade! Our server said it was their mix of ground chuck and short rib that makes it so juicy. Hubby said his steak sandwich was really good(which is something coming from him!) — real shaved ribeye and most definitely not that steakum junk you find at most places. The natural fries were great, too and they have malt vinegar, so you’ve got to love that! We’ll be back when in the area again.

Stopped by The Point after visiting Fort Monroe. It’s located on the main street in the little town of Phoebus between two antique shops. We were the only customers when we walked in, but it was a Sunday mid-afternoon, so downtown was very quiet. The staff called out a friendly greeting and said we could sit anywhere. Our party ordered a Virginia Porter from the adequate craft beer menu. For food we chose Uncle Jack’s burger, the BLT and the Lobster Mac n Cheese. The burger was good. The BLT tasty, but we could have used a little more goat cheese and bacon. The Lobster Mac n Cheese was EXCELLENT! The portion was huge, the cheese had just the right amount of creaminess and tang and the mountain of cavatappi contained generous chunks of lobster! One piece was large enough that I needed to cut it into smaller bite-size portions. It was rich and oh so filling. There was plenty to share and we even brought some home so we could enjoy again later. The service was friendly and helpful. By the time we left it was getting closer to dinner time and there were a few other parties there. We will definitely plan to go back, even if just for the Lobster Mac n Cheese. Check out my photos as well.

Ok so I had a hair appointment at noon and needed to find a quick spot in Hampton to eat. I stumbled upon The Point and can say I had a pleasurable experience. The place is nestled on Mellen st in Phoebus between like little antique shops. It’s friendly looking from the outside, and once inside it is dark and charming. Pinot bottles are mounted onto walls with sprigs of pine in them. A row of cozy booths and tables then a big spacious bar. 3 tv’s and a really nice hostess greeted me and let me choose my seat. I showed up 5 mins after they opened so I was expecting great service and I wasn’t too disappointed. The hostess/waitress was very sweet and walked me thru their very eccentric menu of lots of comfort foods with a twist. I had the Seafood Bisque, which was full of lobster and huge shrimp, a creamy broth and topped with cheese. It was delicious. My favorite part of the meal. I wanted to give them 5 stars but unfortunately a few snags held that up. I ordered the Pinnacle burger and sweet potato fries. They had just opened, but I was told they were out of sweet potato fries so I had regular fries. They were decent, like 5 guys consistency and cut. I asked for an over medium egg on top and a medium burger. The burger was medium well and the egg was fried all the way thru which was a bummer. Killed the flavor & the Patty could’ve used some seasoning. There was none. It was not horrible, just not what I wanted and I didn’t have time for a do over. So yeah… blah. The sweet tea was good and the waitress took 15% off the check when I said I didn’t want a doggy bag and she was surprised by it. And apologetic for the over cooking. Which was nice. I spent 28 bux so it wasn’t bad but a lil pricey for lunch. 10 dollar soup 13 dollar burger… eh not bad. Lastly, it was cold inside the restaurant. I had to keep my coat on but all that aside it was a good dining experience and I think I should’ve went with the things she recommended instead of what I was craving. Anyhoo, check it out if you’re in the area. I would go again.
