My first review where I’m on a military installation — sure why not. First, a bit of history lesson — Langley Air Force Base Memorial Park was created to memorize the Service Members that participated in conflicts around the world; three aircraft were originally are on display — painted in «ghost gray» for the respect of Service Members who lost their lives in these conflicts. The aircraft originally on display are the F-86 Saber, F-105 Thunderchief and F-15 Eagle representing the Korean, Vietnam, and Cold Wars. It was only recently where the F-16 Fighting Falcon was added to honor Service Members that participated in Desert Storm. The Memorial Park does instill a feeling of being part of a larger objective — and to remember our past, and appreciate what these Service Members performed and paid for where are today. About the park itself — there are 4 parking lots which can probably hold about 20 – 50 cars each. Driving in this area can be a challenge that is unfamiliar with these roads. There is a small trail around the perimeter of the park, which for me, I think I covered that entire perimeter in about an hour walking around. And there are paths where I could walk up and see each plane up close, and read a memorial on Gen. Jerome O’Malley and the Tactical Air Command. The Park is a convenient location for going on walks and even walking the four-legged variety. One thing I noticed is how a couple of the dogs were not disturbed by jet-powered aircraft taking off(about less than a 0.5 miles away). Overall, a great Park to get in some casual cardiovascular workout — enjoy some fresh air, and remember the heritage of those from our past.
