I’ll give Bernies 3 ½ stars for it’s food & a solid four stars for its roof deck views! The two times that I have had dinner here service was very good. some reviewers should remember that it is a fun bar, a beach bar at that! It’s simply the best place in Hampton Beach’s Ocean Boulevard to have a good drink, meal or time.

I give this place 1 star because although the food is great and they have an extensive and delicious gluten free menu, their staff is full of terrible, mean people. We were there with a large group last night and one waitress basically tackled my brother in law because she needed to get by. Her demeanor was rude the whole time, along with other staff. I would never go back to this place and only recommend it if your willing to be treated like that. We were glad to take out group elsewhere ! Step it up Bernies.

Make sure you check your bank account/cc statement. they add $$ to the tip you give. Our bill was $ 40, I left an $ 8 tip– come to find out they charged me $ 15 for the tip, I was shocked and disappointed. However I will say the food, drinks, and atmosphere were good.

The food is a little pricy but the lobster sliders and the drinks are amazing! The watermelon margaritas have fresh watermelon in them. Best margarita I’ve ever had. It’s my favorite place to go to on he strip

Have been to Bernies once and we had a lovely waitress and great food. So on our next trip to Hampton went for a drink @ the bar. Worst experience ever. Bartender completely ignored us even when we called him over. Sorry, Rude & Ignorant. Will never go back

This restaurant is rated 2.5 stars too many. After coming to Hampton Beach for years we’ve gone to Bernie’s quite a few times but this last experience was enough to never come back. FYI… 1.) If you have a large party you may get laughed at when asking for a table as if it’s impossible, you may just have to take it into your own hands and suggest that the whole bottom floor is available. 2.) Kids meals come out first, fried food comes out second and entrees comes out third. So if you and your family don’t like eating at 3 separate times this place isn’t the place for you. 3.) In our party of 21, we only ended up getting 20 of the meals. 4.) Don’t ask for extra olives in your bloody marry… You’ll get an eye roll. 5.) DON’T ask for the manager when disappointed, the response we received is «well there is 21 people» and«there’s like a hundred other tickets in the kitchen» then was rudely asked what we wanted them to do about it. 6.) You might get chased down the street by your waitress waving her tip back in your face yelling«here, you might need this more then me»(which is a clear indication of how well she takes care of her other tables considering they probably didn’t get checked on, meals, refills or plates cleared either)

Every year my family and I vacation to Hampton beach, and stay on L Street. We were SO excited when Bernies opened up just a few houses down from ours!!! The food is AMAZING(try the hummus plate and lobster rangoons) the services is VERY speedy. The drinks are always cold, cocktails are creative and the bar tenders are so friendly!(shout out to Courtney! You’re awesome !) We are in town for a week, and visit Bernies Atleast once a day. Either for a cocktail, an appetizer, or a fun night out with the family! Thank you for being awesome!

We’ve gone to Bernies a few times now and I’d really like to like it. I’m still not there yet. The food is ok not great. I get the chowder. It has bacon and corn in it with a bit of a kick. It’s not a typical chowder so maybe that’s why I like it. Have stopped in 3 times and each time the service is slow and the staff seems to be bothered to help or take our order. Sorry to bother them. The music on the 2nd opened to floor seems loud that you can’t talk. I do like the openness on the upper deck w the umbrellas which keeps drawing me back. However, if they are bothered by the customers then I may need to move on.

I would highly recommend Bernie’s if you’re looking to have great service, delicious drinks and fresh food! My friends and I had a not so great experience last week and were hesitant to go back. But we are always willing to give anything a second chance. And we were glad we did. Alexis(our server) was thorough, polite and attentive to our large party of 9. We ordered drinks, apps, entrees, etc. Even the manager(Joel) came over to apology about our previous experience and was quite pleased at how happy we were with this one. We will be coming back!

Bernies is my favorite spot when I come to Hampton Beach. It feels so tropical on the upper deck. During the day they have calypso music which gives it a really beachy feel. I loved my piña colada and my mother loved her rum runner. The food was delicious too! We had the fried clams and nachos which were loaded with jalapenos cheese and black olives. To die for! When we came back that evening our waiter was Evan. He was so nice and friendly. He even flirted with my mom a little bit which really made her night. Sitting downstairs during the evening is advised because the people watching is absolutely hysterical. Good luck finding a spot upstairs if you go to Bernies on a busy weekend night. GOTHERE!

I will start off by saying I do not recommend this place. Pros: The view from the roof top. Overall atmosphere makes the place appear to be awesome, Dont let it fool you… Cons: The food was mediocre at best. We had calamari as an app, — which we order quite often when we go out — it was not delicious. My bf had a burger with onion rings — he was not fond of the burger, but ate it anyway, and only had one onion ring. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich which was okay. I added avocado(for $ 3 extra). I’ve never seen a restaurant use a huge chunk of iceberg lettuce as sandwich/burger lettuce. Both of us ended up not eating the lettuce. My margarita was awful. Our waitress asked how it was and I told her it wasn’t good, tasted like straight up drink mix. Her response was, «well we Dont use mix» — I again stated it was not good at all. She grabbed the drink and walked away without saying anything. Not an apology, not an okay I’ll have them remake it, nothing. Rude! The service just was not good at all. It took forever to get our drinks in the first place. The waitress was rude but then it seemed like she was trying too hard to be nice once it was time to pay the bill. The girls who dropped off our food didn’t speak one word when they came to our table. It was just weird. Overall we were extremely disappointed, and wished we had read the reviews first. The place looked so cool which was what pulled us in. We definitely will not be going back. Ever.

A group of us(9) went here and the waiter came to our table 3 times… once to take drink order, once to take the food order, and again for the bill. I was disappointed that he didnt come over to ask how dinner was or even if we wanted another drink. The other thing was the bathrooms… gross! No paper towels and i even told someone and the second time i went in still none. Also i could smell was trash because it was over flowing. I wouldnt go back cause the food wasnt that good and the customer service was poor.

I went here with a group of friends for a birthday and we had a fantastic time. Our server was quick and super friendly. The drinks were delicious, I definitely recommend the Bernie’s rum runner! We ordered several appetizers which all came out hot and fresh. The nachos were huge and loaded with veggies and the lobster sliders were awesome, I love that they were on a croissant. For dinner I ordered the grilled sirloin(juicy, flavorful and perfectly cooked), sautéed veggies and the chipotle mashed potatoes which had a nice spicy kick to them! I would highly recommend going to bernie’s to everyone! I can’t wait to go back!

Nothing to complain about. Beautiful day drinking a beer in the sun in their fabulous rooftop deck overlooking the ocean! Quick service and cold beer

There was plenty of clean tables open in the sun but they made us sit in the cold shade we were going to have apps and entrees but since they wouldn’t let us sit in the sun we left because the server said it’s not her section and we were not allowed to move and the manager were tools auctioning off our food to the whole restaurant seems like they don’t use table numbers and do not no where any of the food is going and the drinks suck

I loved this place! The location was super cool, on the second floor so you can see the ocean and if you sit around the bar they can close these garage doors around you if it’s too cold and windy. The staff is super friendly like everyone in New Hampshire seems to be. The drink menu is pretty extensive, I tried Bomb Pop and Cherry Limeade which were both yummy. I had lobster Rangoon’s as a snack which were super yummy and came with an awesome sauce :) Another day I went back and tried their lobster roll(Also yummy) with a pasta salad side… You don’t normally see pasta salad on the menu where I’m from so of course I was excited about that! All in all this was a great place, I’m happy we discovered it :)

This place is great! awesome beach atmosphere and the food was amazing! we went on a perfect day with a little too much wind to be sitting on the roof deck. i had my drink on top of the menu so it wouldnt fly away and it ended up blowing anyway and my drink spilled everywhere. the server was nice enough to grab me a new drink(even though it was half drank) free of charge! we got the lobster roll sliders for an appetizer, HIGHLYRECOMMENDED! this place is bumping at night too, they play reggae music all day and have live music every night. go on a tuesday and catch the fireworks after dinner!

This place sucks! We walked in and sat at the bar and were literally ignored for 15 minutes! The bartender was too busy horsing around with her friends to even come over and hand us menus, acknowledge we were even there OR say«hey…I’ll be right with you.» Considering I was with my close friend who is a bartender she was fuming. we grabbed our belongings and headed up the street to a better place that didn’t ignore us and treated us like customers.
