I haven’t eaten here before. But I heard the food is good. I went here once with a friend to see how it is at the Bar. Its like a Sports bar. There was no kind of music playing while we’re drinking. If your planning to listen to music while your drinking this is not the place. I was here like six months ago and it’s alright but if your looking for fun this is not the Bar.

Stopped by due to the holiday closure of Opal’s. Sat at the bar with my husband. Very few people on a Sunday afternoon. Great bartender — she was talkative but not intrusive and provided great customer service in the face of their food quality… aka had their chicken and waffles but the chicken was largely undercooked. She took the item off our tab since most of the chicken was inedible. Otherwise — The cajun meatloaf was pretty good — the side veggies had a nice heavy garlic seasoning to it. Side salad was a sad thing of lettuce and one sliver of tomato, the star was their homemade avocado ceaser dressing though. Soup du jour was a spicy sausage with macaroni was not bad. Overall, decent place to visit. Would love to give them another try at their food.

I would give no stars but at least one is required to post. Food was decent. Not the best. My waist line is appreciative if how horrible the fries tasted. It took 14 mins for a water and beer. Our food arrived before the beer. Miserable! Ah worst EVER!

Drove from Sunset Beach last evening(Monday) & hunted the place down( Unilocal directions are wrong). We walk in & see two people sitting at tables inside, a small group on the deck, & several folks at the bar. «Yay, not too crowded». It appeared there was only one waitress & she completely ignored us. One of the bartenders noticed us and gave us a look like«sorry». After waiting at least ten minutes in which the waitress walked by a couple of times, & wouldn’t even make eye contact, we left. At least we got the football scores.

Not sure how this place has 4 stars… The food was overpriced, gross and there were flies all over the place.

Great late night neighborhood bar! It was recommended to us by the friendly bartender at Cholos(because they do not stay open as late as Bs) and it was a great choice! It’s your typical bar with music, football, TVs and a laid back crowd. The bartender Cherie was a sweetheart and we met some really nice locals. No pretentious people here! Just people having a good, casual time over inexpensive beverages!

Not many sit-down places on the north shore so had to try this place. Casual atmosphere, open air, indoor or outdoor seating, not overly crowded when I was there. I love french fries but can’t eat processed frozen fries. The truffle fries tasted like they were made from fresh potatoes and were very flavorful(and really hot). VERY large serving — definitely for 2 or more people. The truffle flavor wasn’t strong but the fries also had parmesan cheese which would have over powered the truffle flavor. Regardless, they were still good. Catching up with reviews and I cannot remember what else we had. I know it was good(maybe a special of the day?)

This place looks like a dump from the outside, but the food and service are totally 5 star worthy. Great beers and drinks too. We sat out on the deck b/c the weather was awesome — felt comfy like we were in a friends back yard. After a day of shore diving and snorkeling my friends and I wanted some food — stat. We randomly chose this joint and were not disappointed one bit. The food is delish and the portions are beyond generous. My group had truffle fries, 2 chilis, fish and chips and 2 hawaiian sandwiches — all was pretty damn tasty.

Oh my sweet jesus, this might be one of my favorite restaurants in town. It’s definitely known more for being the place to go after hours, but the food is absolutely amazing. We tried a bit of everything and it was all delicious, but the thing you can not go without ordering is the Truffle Fries. The description on the menu says they are«soon-to-be world famous fries» and they are not wrong, too good!

Love the food, love the service(even quick on a busy night) very fun place to be on the north shore!!! Food is great! Not the typical fried bar food! Don’t get me wrong some is fried but they offer great salads, fresh fish and edamame. I love the truffle fries, Kahlua pig quesadilla, ahi salad and chicken wings. Drinks are always made well. Thursday night karaōke gets busy which makes the outside deck a great place to cool off and get some air. They have security on busy nights, friendly security. They have a lot of local bands play here. Good mix of mostly locals, young and old, military and some tourists. Parking is great, food is fantastic, happy hour is happy and people here are the best!

i must admit, this place has grown on me. Not the place that it was when it initially opened, but what it has morphed into. It stopped trying to be a higher-end tourist draw and settled into its own groove as a locals’ hangout with fairly cheap drinks, a casual atmosphere and good food. I’ve done a lot of taste testing, and they have the best hot wings in Haleiwa. Not your Asian-style or heavily-breaded wings, but real hot wings with extra sauce that you can sop up with your celery. The price of beers like Fire Rock during happy hour are among the best around… think they’re $ 4 a pop. I’d also recommend the poke duo, which is almost always fresh and unique. They have TVs for sports games, although the layout still strikes me as odd. Still, it gets my vote as a chill place to grab a cold beer and hot wings.

This review is soley for the food, and not for the bar. We came during a North Shore excursion one evening, after reading several reviews and seeing that Opal was closed we decided to come here mostly because of the mango cheesecake. When we walked in, at around 5 we were the only ones there to eat, and the bar was already packing up with people. But our server came over quickly to seat and serve us. Our party ordered: Truffle Fries Chicken Bascillica Fish and Chips Hawaiian Sandwich Kalua Pork Sandwich The cheesecake was not available :( The only thing worth mentioning is the truffle fries. They were SO divine and the portion was HUGE. They were fries cooked in truffle oil and covered head to toe in parmesan and spices. UGH, so delicious. Not sure if anyone else can top these truffle fries! As far as food goes, It was GOODBARFOOD. But as far as food/restaurant food goes, it is okay and maybe 2 belly rubs at best. It was filling, portions were hefty but we all felt like they were a little heavy handed with the salt. If you’re interested in lunch or dinner without drinks, this is not the place to go. If you want a chill bar environment with good food, then come on by.

The most fun you can have at night on the North Shore! For our wedding week, we wanted a place we could take all our friends and family to celebrate, dance, and socialize at night on the North Shore. So we chatted with the owners at B’s about bringing in our group for one of their Thursday Karaōke nights. The owners, Zack and Rob, were incredibly awesome to work with from start to finish. They welcomed us with warmth and excitement and even suggested they put together a speciality cocktail for our group to order with a secret code word. Fun! Our friends and family had an awesome time at B’s that night, singing karaōke, throwing darts, sharing drinks and laughs. The bar has big wide windows, spacious outdoor seating, top-notch service, YUMMY nibbles, and is just an all-around great place to grab a drink and a bite, and have a fabulous time. There IS nightlife on the North Shore! Thanks to Zack, Rob and our server, Natasha(great name by the way) — for taking SUCH incredible care of our friends and family. We’ll see you again soon for some karaōke and grinds! Love, the newlyweds.

I went to B’s again it just keeps getting better every time. This time I had the not sure what it was called but it was a chicken pesto pasta. It was amazing, not to mention a lot of food. I can tell the chef is very passionate about the food he cooks. P. S. I just eat some of the leftovers, it just as good as it was last night and still have some left to eat for dinner tonight ;-)

I’m a long time user of Unilocal but have never written a review before… why now? Well… the food here is amazing and I was honestly shocked by how good it was. As you’ve probably read on other reviews, this place used to be a dive bar and still looks like one — but don’t let that fool you. When we first walked in I thought we had made a mistake to come here because this place looked like a spot where they would only have deep fried stuff(which I do enjoy — but you know what I mean) to munch on as you watched a game on TV. I was pleasantly surprised. I’m a fatty and love to eat. During this trip to Hawaii, my girlfriend and I were particularly enamoured with tuna Poke. We’ve had Poke everyday we’ve been here and that includes everything from the Foodland kind all the way to high end restaurants where you spend $ 25 for a little bite. B’s by far had the BEST poke and for the amount you get it was also the cheapest at $ 8.95 for two styles. I noticed a couple of reviewers mentioned this place was pricey but I would have to disagree. For two entrées and the poke, we spent about that same as you would at a food truck. Unless you are eating at L&L or Ted’s Bakery, I don’t think you could find anything for a better value. If you are visiting the area and asking around about where you should eat dinner, they’ll probably suggest Haleiwa Joe’s Seafood Grill or Jameson’s Seafood. In fact, we went to Joe’s Grill the first night here because of a recommendation from a guy running a coconut stand. Those places are busy and generally safe for tourist so I can see why the locals would point people that way. They are similar to the Olive Garden or Cheesecake Factory… you won’t be blown away but you probably won’t be too disappointed either. I would suggest skipping those places and coming to B’s instead. They don’t have the views like Jameson’s or Joe’s but the food is way better. This place is ran by a couple of hauli guys who genuinely enjoy food. I had the pork chops and Tallie had the seared ahi. Both were delicious(order both meals on the rare side). The bar was not packed but fairly busy and we were able to get our food quickly. If you’re looking for a place to catch a game on ESPN or enjoy a great meal — You should go to B’s.

To B’s or Not to B’s, that is the question. Sadly the answer is NOT to B’s! Like other reviewers, we too were rooting for this place but ultimately we don’t get all the hype. After years of avoiding the dump Kainoa’s that this place used to be called, we were hopeful when new ownership took over and while things have improved, overall the vibe from this place is still more bad than good. We kept trying to give this place a chance even after several disappointing experiences because we felt so sorry for these new owners every time we walked by and saw B’s Bar and Grinds nearly empty while one of our favorite restaurants Opal’s next door was booming with business, packed full with a line outside waiting. Now to be completely honest we did luck out with a couple of dishes(one of which they immediately took off the menu), but overall it has been very OVERPRICED and that is the biggest problem with this place. When you order something you’re taking a big gamble that it will be ok and at the prices they’re charging, after a few bad experiences, we’re just not willing to gamble any more. The first pretty AWFUL thing we had there was their Chicken Basilica Pasta for $ 15. Now I would have thought this would be impossible to ruin, but B’s rude and arrogant chef found a way. The pesto cream sauce was completely flavorless. The tomatoes he used are what we Star Trek fans call«replicator» tomatoes! They don’t taste anything like the real thing. And the plain boring black olives out of a can and cheap waxy tasting Parmesan cheese didn’t add a thing to a dish that was so dead with flavor it needed to be put out of its misery. The next time we had the Fish and Chips and it was just ok. For $ 17 we expected something special. The truffle fries we upgraded to for $ 2 more were bland enough that we had to put more salt on them which shouldn’t have been necessary considering they were coated with Parmesan cheese. Unfortunately the Parmesan cheese tasted like the powdery cheap kind out of a carton. And the ghastly sewage smell as we ate the Fish and Chips on their outdoor patio was disgusting! Another night we went just to get some appetizers and even though there were only two other tables with two people at each table, we waited more than half an hour just to get an order of expensive truffle fries and some edadame. You know something is wrong when it’s peak dinner time on a weekend and even though there’s only a handful of diners you have to wait that long just for appetizers. The last straw was when the chef/owner promised us two days in a row that he would make a chocolate cake that we were interested in trying and then both days blew us off and didn’t follow through even though we rearranged our schedules to be there for it and reserved a piece. When we called and left a message, our phone call was not returned and when we emailed to voice our disappointment, we were again blown off with rudeness and arrogance by Chef Rob even after we’d been extra nice and continued to try to support his business. What’s the B’s in B’s Bar and Grinds stand for ? The food could B better. The service could B better. The prices could B better. p. s. The owner can say whatever untrue things he likes, but every word of this review is sincere and honest.

It’s so nice to see a place that has North shore soul, family-working-togther spirit, and some creative dishes still made in a real ‘comfort food’ kind of way. Originally I was not sold on the Hawaiian Cuban sandwich seeing that pulled pork AND Portuguese sausage was paninied with a pickle, Cuban sando style. But I was mistaken! That flavorfull dense little pocket of power really hit the spot after a 3 hour surf. Returning another time, I tried the gumbo and was very satisfied, but it was not spicy. The server was happy to get me several new flavors of Tabasco to try, including a ‘Buffalo Sauce’ Tabasco! I gotta get me some of that stuff for home! B’s Bar and Grinds is comfort, priced well food that is not fancy, and is not Waikiki. But it is good. Go. Go two or three times so they can afford some more décor in the future. Décor is the only reason B’s does not get all 5 stars. Food is 41⁄2 now, I’m sure 5 will be soon.

The blackened ahí salad was very yummy and the ahi was fresh and seasoned perfectly. The mango vinaigrette was tasty. You must try the Mango Cheese Cake!

**For some reason most of the reviews are on the filtered list. Please see that list too!** I stopped by tonight to grab a quick bite to eat. I sat at the bar with several other regular patrons(5 to be exact). There were people eating outside and in the other part of the restaurant. New people arrived and asked what we liked, and we all gave our opinions, which was basically everything on the menu. I had the hamburger and it was amazing! As for Miss Rebecca S., bring your nose down, north shore needs creative fresh cooking at reasonable non-tourist prices. Who cares about the décor, that will come in time! Do you realize the restaurant just opened a few weeks ago, which is why all of the reviews were just posted?
