Beautiful Art! With that said, my wife and I were promised a custom piece(glass fish art on a «lava» base) in a time of 2 weeks by George(the owner). We ordered August 10 and received it today September 10. I called every week past the time we were promised, we were not given an exact reason why our piece was not ready on time. It was even getting to a point where I called my bank to get information on canceling the order, the gentlemen at the bank suggested we ask for some compensation as we are moving soon and had to keep rescheduling our move. My wife sent an email and was met with a generic response, no talk of compensation. I go to pick up the piece, and immediately notice a blemish in the one glass turtles, I did not say anything as it would have probably taken another month and I need my stuff shipped out soon, also the drilled hole to mount the large fish was too big, and crooked. Also, all the holes in the rock base were NOT blown out with compressed air, a lot of dust in each hole is completely unacceptable as I have a newborn child. I spent 30 minutes with my own compressed air, doing what the George and his employees should have done. A complementary $ 30 dollar glass turtle(or any low value piece), a piece done right, and an apology for going past the promised time have made this a five star review. Just a clean and correctly done piece and an apology would have made this a four star review. There is another Unilocal link for the gallery and I will post this there as well. I almost forgot to mention the piece cost us about $ 600.

Capt. John Sheridan: I wish I had your faith in the universe. I just don’t see it sometimes. Delenn: Then I will tell you a great secret, Captain. Perhaps the greatest of all time. The molecules of your body are the same molecules that make up this station, and the nebula outside, that burn inside the stars themselves. We are starstuff. We are the universe made manifest, trying to figure itself out. And as we have both learned, sometimes the universe requires a change of perspective. A Distant Star — Babylon 5 Sand. Molten glass comes from sand. I was fascinated by the flame. The woman in the window formed fine lines and curves from a blob of molten glass with fire. I speculated on what form the glass would take. A dolphin I think… It’s nice seeing art being made. I remember when I was a kid seeing artists painting at the park, the beach, or the bay. At Seaworld I thrilled at seeing divers searching for pearls at the bottom of the sandy pool. Nowadays food is the only thing I get to watch being made… There are many beautiful things in this place. I brought home a glass dolphin created by the woman in the window. The dolphin was clear, cold, smooth, with sweeping curves in contrast to the Manzanita stand which was dark, warm, and held rich details. All the artworks were made by local artists. I was inspired walking about seeing the paintings and sculptures. Perhaps one day the images in my mind will manifest into something beautiful…

Yes, the art in this gallery is wonderful and it is a great place to visit. However, if you purchase art of substantial value(like I did) you have to be careful of the art being over priced for the tourist market. I purchased a painting in 2000 for $ 7500 and due to life changes, I need to sell it. Art appraisers, auction houses, galleries etc told me my painting would only sell for $ 2,000-$ 3,000. When I called the gallery owner to ask about this NZ artist and the current value of his work, he stated that he is selling Mark Cross paintings from $ 10,000 — $ 16,000. A friend who had previously been in the art business advised me that either the gallery owner or artist should be willing to purchase the painting back for the price you paid. When I made that request to the gallery owner, he laughed. Prior to this, I had requested that perhaps, he could do a virtual sale of the painting or sell it on consignment. That was met with zero response. Great place to visit, but think twice before spending your money. You could be over paying.

This place has some really great art work, and the sales person wasn’t pushy at all, but was extremely helpful. I have not been to an art gallery that had such interesting art work like this — and that’s coming from a fine arts major. You can even watch the glass making apprentice and master at work when they’re there.

We stopped by during the Hale’iwa Art Walk that occurs on the last Saturday of the month. My niece, son, and I were welcomed warmly by a woman named Isabella who explained the history of the gallery and gave some information about the artwork being currently featured. I was so appreciative that she took the time to talk to us because I feel so often at galleries like families with small children are seen as inconveniences. It’s unfortunate because art and creativity should be accessible to people of all ages! Anyway, we browsed the different pieces and I settled on a $ 20 print of a painting of an unconventionally beautiful Hawaiian woman holding a mango in her hands while standing beneath a mango tree. I would definitely encourage folks to check out this gallery with their diverse art work by local and international artists, accommodating staff, and cool laid-back vibe.
