On Sunday I called your location to order sandwiches for myself and 5 other coworkers. I was placed on hold immediately. While on hold for 5 minutes I heard what I thought was the guy taking an order from someone else. So, I hung up and called again thinking maybe he just forgot. I’m in the food industry too, things happen. When I called back I was asked to be put on hold again. I agreed and waited another 5 minutes before hanging up again. The third time I called back the guy answered and said«I can’t take your order. We are too busy to get to the phones.» Appalled, I asked«So what am I supposed to do?» His response was«I don’t know but I can’t take your order. We’re too busy to get to the phones right now». Then I asked about the order that I thought I heard him take while i was on hold and he said that was a customer calling about their delivery order that was 45 minutes late. Pissed off, I hung up. WHOSAYSTHATTOSOMEONE!!! Like I said before, I work in the food industry too. Want to know what would happen if I ever said that to a customer? I would be fired. And so should this kid and whoever said it was okay to tell a customer that. It was not my fault that you’re busy. I was at work too and we had a line to the door from the time I walked in at 2pm till after we closed at 10 pm. But I still made time to drive to the OTHER Gurnee location(Who were gracious enough to take our order) to get our sandwiches. And I plan on passing this along to the corporate offices as soon as I can get ahold of someone or their feedback website decides to work again.

This location is horrible. Of late, nearly every order has been wrong. Two of the employees have been consistently rude. Attitude at the cash register, And eye rolling when you ask them to simply redo the sandwich that wasn’t right.

Jimmy John’s at 5250 Grand Ave. in Gurnee, across from Six Flags sucks. This franchise is poorly run. It has employees who are lazy and unwilling to provide good service and fulfill service hours posted on the storefront. Tonight I encountered two suck employees who were cleaning up at 9:50pm, when the store is supposed to be open until 10 pm. This is unacceptable since the door was locked and service should continue until the posted hours end. 10pm is not when employees are to be leaving their place of work. This is not the first incident where I have encountered poor service. I will never buy a Jimmy John’s sandwich again.

The only reason I’m giving this location 2 stars is because I love Jimmy Johns in general. The food was fantastic, however the staff was rude and disinterested. Before accepting my order the cashier was more focused on the girl behind me. There were at least 5 employees in the restaurant, but only one helped me.

Jimmy John’s you suck… I had surgery yesterday and can’t drive, sitting at home all alone and don’t have much of an appetite for pizza or Chinese. Your store is 2 miles from my house and when I tried to place a delivery order for a sandwich the store told me they wont deliver! I explained to the girl that I can not drive… but she was like oh we will just cancel your order. So all your«freaky fast» delivery advertisements are false, and you should all be ashamed of yourselves! 2015 will be the year I boycott Jimmy John’s!

So. Slow. I’m not sure what the malfunction is at this location, but service is painfully slow. The staff seem put out by each customer who walks in the door. There was no greeting before, «Can I take your order?» Sandwiches take longer than necessary and are then handed off without a «Thanks» or «Have a nice day.» This is not the Jimmy John’s we know and love at other locations. The sandwiches were fine, really. And I’ll probably be back. I just hope the employees can get their act together in the meantime.

Worst delivery area they won’t even deliver 5 minutes from this location. Terrible customer service I would hope that they realize the employees are very impolite as well.

I think the owners listened to service complaints, because when I went in today, the entire place was incredibly friendly to each person that entered. My sandwich was fantastic, too.

I agree with some of the past reviews; the service seems to be the main negative review about this place. That, and they are not as fast as they claim to be. What I know of Jimmy John’s is how fast their service was in my home town of Milwaukee on Marquette Campus. Always open late for the munchies, cheap, and quite fast. Not the case with this one. What ever happened to helping the customer? They just throw a bag at you to put your sandwhich in and point at the napkins.

Nor sure what it is about this location, they just really don’t have any clue about customer service. I’ve been to probably 20 different Jimmy John’s and this has to be the worst when we’re talking customer service. Food is actually great, pretty much the only reason they got 2 stars. However, nearly every time I go in, I’m never offered a bag, or even told the sandwich is ready. Even when there are many people ordering, and I’ve got cookies, chips and a drink, sure I’m gonna juggle all that… not. I literally have to reach over the counter to grab a bag and bag it all myself. Also I’ve been in there and only I ordered a sub and chips(had a drink in the car), it doesn’t mean I want a sub chips and a drink, not the second or third time I say it either! Lots of work in the customer service area here, I know it’s just a sandwich chain, but simply listening and offering a bag if the customer has more than one item would vastly improve things!

Service, service, service. I would be willing to bet that the reason that I’m unhappy is that the owner is not the manager in question. Saturday, 05÷14÷11. I asked my mother-in-law to call in with an order for 30 sandwiches. The time of the call, 9:40AM. They opened in twenty minutes. The young lady that answered the phone took the order. We told her we’d be by to pick up between 12:00 and 12:30. She then informed us that she couldn’t take the order because the manager told her the store’s not open yet. Service, service, service. Hey, there’s a Subway right across the street. There are LOTS of places that I can spend my money. If you are going to take down the information and then NOT take the order, I’ll spend my money elsewhere… and I won’t come back. Give me piss poor service and I’ll tell a LOT more than two friends.

I do not know what Reviewer Nick’s problem is with the service — maybe he had one bad go of it. After eating Jimmy John’s for years, we moved to Gurnee and use this location as well as the one in Grayslake on Washington. I’ve been here at least 30+ times ordering for a family of 4, and 90% of the time the sandwiches are done before I finish paying for them. And they are truly great sandwiches. I personally love #10, #11 and #12.

I’ve been going to Jimmy John’s ever since I first discovered them on my older sister’s college campus in the late ‘90s and have been a die hard fan ever since. So it goes without saying that when I learned a JJ’s opened in my home town, I was really happy. Granted, I don’t live there anymore but it gives me something to look forward to when I visit. Well, I visited this past weekend and made my inaugural visit to the Gurnee JJ’s and man, I gotta say I was a little bummed. Granted, JJ’s food is always consistent from location to location and my sandwich in and of itself was par. It’s the service that hurts this place. Whatever happened to «Subs So Fast You’ll Freak!»??? I remember the days of going to Jimmy John’s, giving my order and having a sandwich in my hand before my change for crying out loud. At the Gurnee location I was standing at the end of the counter tapping my foot for in the neighborhood of five minutes. FIVEMINUTES!!! This is NOT what I’ve come to expect from Jimmy John’s. Hell, it’s not what Jimmy John himself expects from Jimmy John’s … wherever he is. This is unacceptable. I want my Jimmy John’s and I want it now dammit! That is way it’s supposed to be. Subs So Fast You’ll Freak. Oh I’m freakin’ alright, but not at how fast the subs are. Quite the opposite actually. Get it together Gurnee Jimmy John’s. You’re making the rest of the family look bad.
