This place plain and simple isn’t very good! Don’t let the high reviews fool you! Chips and salsa were subpar, the carne asada taco were very plain no seasoning or flavor whatsoever, and the flautas were nothing more than plain unseasoned chicken in a flower tortilla. Save yourself the money and go elsewhere or cook mexican at home!

Food was tasteless! Received the wrong dish from what was ordered and sent back. They did however get the correct dish to our table right away. My dish had no flavor at all not even salt and pepper. I actually had to use salt & pepper on my meal. Being a Mexican restaurant you would think their meat would be seasoned but it was not at all. I will not go back!

Their portions are nice and large. Their staff is friendly. Their food is alway hot. There is never a wait unless you go at peak dinner hours. It’s always FREAKINGDELICIOUS! I cannot stress enough how awesome this place is and how we always come back.

Nom nom nom! I ordered the especial de Andres, aka bomb ass carne asada nachos. Super yummy, ginormous portions, and easy on the ol pocket book. Not terrible fancy, but good.

Really good Mexican food! I am incredibly picky about my chicken fajitas, and this place got it spot on. Good prices and decent drinks as well

This is THEE place for late night cravings in Gresham/Troutdale! It’s open late, drinks are ok, food is fine & you get complimentary chips & salsa. The food is pretty much the same & tastes the same as every other Mexican restaurant in the Portland Metro Area. It’s a go-to place for late night hangs & quick Mexican food.

Such an amazing place. The food is amazing, and it takes no time at all to come out! And then the staff! Oh my goodness, they were all so nice! Definitely coming back, and I definitely recommend it to everyone.

I just left the restaurant 5 minutes ago, so this review is legitimate. First off let me say I was born and raised in California, and to say this place was good, would be an insult to the true Authentic Mexican restaurants that exsist. So, those who believe this is authentic Mexican, need to get out and smell the real tacos, enchiladas, burritos, tortas and sopes cause this place doesn’t have them! If a so called Mexican restaurant offers you Taco Bell taco shells, run! If they offer you ground beef, shredded beef, and/or shredded chicken for you’re only fillings option, run! If they offer you more yellow shredded cheese and lettuce than rice, run! A true authentic place should offer meats such as but not limited to; asada, al pastor, carnitas, tripas, lengua, and Pollo asado ect… not ground beef… my goodness! Over all this is a definite no, no in my book. I’m Mexican — American and if I ever brought my mom, abuela, tia, and even my cousin here, I’d earn a slap in the face! You should get the point by now! Anyways the server was nice, but slow to get us our check! Please take my advise and go elsewhere, or better yet open you’re own Mexican restaurant, a real one, not like this one who claims it is! Adiós!

Sit in the bar area first of all. I am not sure of his name, but they have a server in there that is a freaking rock star! By far the best service I have had in the Portland area, and it is not even close. The salsa is ok. If you like it hot, like I do, they have a spicy green salsa they will bring you. The portions are MASSIVE. I am a big guy, 6’9″ 320 lbs. I have not EVER completely finished any meal I have ordered here. They keep the chips and salsa coming and coming and coming. They also have a drink special every day of the week. Thursday is «DASBOOT». Its just a fruity drink that comes in a boot but it’s fun. I will be back for sure… and have been back many times.

Service was good, but that’s about it. Their salsa had a good flavor but was too chunky for my liking. The«grilled» steak was not grilled at all and the seasoning was not good. Rice was bland, and the chicken(in my chimichanga) was moist, but not really seasoned at all. Their guacamole was pretty much just avocado and sour cream mixed together. We wont eat here again, so we are still on the hunt for our go-to Mexican restaurant in the area.

Just moved here to Portland and heard that this was a great Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately I was not that impressed with the food, it was decent but not great. I ordered the 2 tacos that comes with rice and beans. The tacos were full of lettuce that overwhelmed the plate, one of my tacos was missing half of it. Overall the food was fine but it’s not a go to place for me. I will try out other places here in Oregon

Decent average food, nothing special, sometimes it feels a pricey but eh. Not really a whole lot to say about the quality but the have pretty large quantities and they really do keep the chips coming.

The portions are always huge and well cooked. The service people who most have been there for a while are always super nice. It’s not Top Chef food but it always hits the spot.

Best service in the industry. Fast, friendly and never mess up on orders. This place sets the standard for sit down Mexican restaurants. Strong drinks, but full of flavor. The bar tenders are like magicians with their mixology. They even finally started serving 1 or 2 local IPA’s.

BESTEVER. I love this place and anyone who says it a no go is insane lol. I’m from Texas and I think this food is excellent! The chips and salsa are insane and I love the service! Fairly priced and just amazing!

Excellent Mexican food! Authentic, ambient, affordable, and family friendly. Great service. Friendly and attentive staff. Unfortunately, the seats need refurbishment or replacement. That’s my only gripe. I knew about this little gem long ago, but was reassured when my Mexican friends reaffirmed the authenticity and that they also frequent the restaurant. Go where the Mexicans go!

I have such fond memories of this place, eating lunch with my mom and getting the free dessert(I don’t know if they still do that) and getting plastered over drinks with friends. Yes it’s pretty much American-Mexican but they do a fantastic job! My favorite is the chicken tacos, burritos and the fajitas. They have really tasty rice, fresh chips and a nice kick in their salsa. The atmosphere is something I’ve always enjoyed with the colorful tiles and the murals. I hadn’t been back in years but after a late night with mom, I realized we’d be passing by here so we decided to get take out, mind you our destination was Sandy. We both ordered combination plates and I was willing to risk getting tacos. We got to our destination and the food was still hot and JeeWiz they put my tacos in double shells so they wouldn’t get soggy! Just the best ever. I hadn’t been back here in years and the risk of ordering take out and then driving a good twenty minutes, the highlights of the meal were just what I remembered and exactly what I was craving. Kudos!

I’m sorry but I love La Carreta. When you want a huge burrito covered in sauce and a large margarita, this is your place to go. And who doesn’t love a Mexican place where they are constantly bringing you warm chips and salsa? Ah, the best. I usually get the chicken burrito and it is delish. And the ice cream they bring you at the end is a welcome addition. The happy hour deals are great as well. Let’s admit it, it’s not the most glamorous or quality place in the world but for some fattening Mexican food, its my go-to spot.
