This is the first review I have ever written, but I just felt I had to say something. The hotel, itself, would get 5 stars. Very clean, nice hotel… awesome breakfast. Only complaint as far as the room goes is that the bed was a tad lumpy. We had not made a reservation. My husband and I were traveling to Spencerville, IN and had left late in the day on a Friday after work… last Friday, in fact, October 2nd, 2015. Our plan was to drive as far as we could from our home in Tennessee and check in a Holiday Inn Express when we could drive no further. As we travel quite a bit and am an IHG Rewards customer, we didn’t consider any other brand of hotel for our exhausted bodies to spend the night at. So, when we could drive no more, I did a search on Unilocal for a Holiday Inn Express close by and I found this one. So I called to see if there were any rooms available. This is when I spoke to «Jason». Jason was rude from the moment he answered the phone… from telling me that he couldn’t understand my «accent»(although no one else seems to have an issue) to telling me he couldn’t be bothered to make a reservation as he was about to «roll the night over.» I think the worst part of our conversation was when I asked him since he wasn’t creating a reservation for us, what did I need to do? To which he snidely answered… «Uh… Show up. Check in.» I could almost hear the word«DUH» ringing in the air. If I hadn’t of been exhausted, we would definitely looked for another hotel, simply because of his attitude. Due to his rude treatment of us, the trip we made to Missouri this week was made with another brand of hotel. If you want a nice room, this is the hotel for you. If you want to be treated with kindness, go somewhere else. Perhaps Drury, which is the hotel we stayed at this weekend.

Room was decent. Some maintenance issue with the toilet. Front desk clerk was very friendly.

Free WiFi that doesn’t require constant signing in or a captive portal that displays all sorts of nonsense. Pros: The room was clean, stocked appropriately, and the TV worked. Breakfast was decent — biscuits and gravy, bacon, cheese omelettes, yogurt, milk, hard-boiled eggs, an assortment of fruit and breads — kind of the standard fare. Cons: The bed made a lot of farting noises; the faux headboard was coming loose from the wall, so any movement caused quite a racket. Ultra awesomes: They have a pancake machine. You press a button and hot pancakes emerge on the other side.

It is okay. HIE hotels just piss me off, though. Showerheads suck. Soap sucks. Breakfast is better than it used to be but it still sucks. They even ran out of yogurt here. How does that happen? The front desk is friendly and the WiFi works easily. The location is really good if you need to be in this area… you can walk to several places to eat and shop.

Rented a sweet back in December when I came back to town for a visit. Had an issue with the in room thermometer couldn’t keep the room warm at all or it kept it too hot could not get it to a comfortable setting. The cleaning of some of the areas was less than stellar, the bathroom had cobwebs in the corner. The free hot breakfast was nothing to write home about. Some of the stuff was stale, or hot items were cold. Etc. Pool was heavily chlorinated, but I guess that is what you are going to get from a hotel pool. Overall I would probably try out a few other south side hotels prior to going back to this location.

Really nice banquet rooms and a friendly staff. I have run a couple of parties at this location and the staff is always helpful and friendly and the rooms are always immaculate.
