We got three items in the drive thru: chili cheeseburger, corn dog and hotdog. All were very tasty. The restaurant itself is a bit run den but in its defense it has been in business for 70 years. Overall a very good meal and inexpensive to boot. Our total was only $ 7.00.

Better than anything you will get from a chain restaurant. The burger I had was a good overall burger that stands on it’s own. It was not a knock it out of the park burger but it was a good quality burger that I would place it in my top 50 or so. Soft bun, hot juicy burger patty, cool crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, creamy mayo and bacon(BIGFLAW — the bacon was thin and over cooked). A decent burger with good flavor. The tater tots were cooked perfectly while the one flaw with the dog was that the slaw was s little too sweet. This is definitely a local favorite as was evident by the constant flow of consumers that flowed in during my lunch. I would not make a special trip to come to this side of GVL just to eat here. But, if I am in this area again during lunch craving a dog or burger I would come.

If you’re looking for veggies and and/or a salad you’re in the wrong place! What an iconic place in Greenville. I have been going here for over 25 years. I always get the hot dog special with onion rings. The pimento burger is good too. I don’t drink the fruit drinks as I am diabetic, but the few times I took a sip from others, yum! The peanuts are a must have snack to take home. I don’t think the atmosphere has ever changed or the décor dusted. But, that gives it the charm. Friendly staff. Cheap prices.

Nostalgia, even for a younger person who wasn’t there in the old days, is apparent at Tanner’s. Genuine authenticity, not a newly built retro, like hipsters wearing lumberjack plaid. The burger meat is a bit dry, but is higher quality than any fast food — no mystery chewy bits. Hot dog is not special, but chili gets a nod. Fruit drinks and onion rings are a homerun. Mostly, however, Tanner’s is to be honored like you would your elders; like you treasure your old pair of jeans because you can see on the horizon that it will all fall apart; that the center will eventually not hold; so you try to cherish it as long as you can.

This is the place I go when I want an old school burger or hot dog. It’s always fresh and quick.

Cute old fashioned décor and diverse crowd at lunch. Very old school menu with burgers, dogs and fries. The food was good, quick and inexpensive. No sign of vegetables here!

Yum. Delightful burgers and fries. Nothing fancy but superior to Sonic etc. If you order a hot dog, you’ll find yourself in bun heaven but still lacking a good dog. Orange you glad I wrote this review?

This place has been around for almost 40 – 50 years, and yes the place does look it. Reminds me of the drive thru place(Mels) that was in the movie American Graffiti. It is not as nice looking, but again, it has been around for 40 plus years. This is a spot that my wife’s Mom and Dad went to when they were younger. They said it still looked the same. I thought the food was great as I ordered a cheeseburger and fries with drink. None of us had the famous orange soda. For four people and a toddler the bill came up to less than $ 20. Not bad for lunch. My wife went up to get lettuce and tomato for her turkey sandwhich. We thought it would come with it, but it did not. It took three people to give her lettuce and tomato! The first person she asked turned around and asked somebody else. That person in turn asked somebody more senior like a manager if it was okay. The manager said yeah, and asked somebody else to get the lettuce and tomato to give to my wife. As a side note, when my wife went to use the women’s rest room she said it looked pretty nasty and no papertowels. A sign on the door said, «Please flush the toilet to help keep our bathroom clean and fresh.» What kind of people need to be told to flush the toilet? Not flushing the toilet was the least of their worries to keep the bathroom clean and fresh(what about a mop). Ordinarily, this would have taken a few stars away from my review. However, since I laughed so hard when she told me this I decided to keep all the stars and review the quality of the food by itself! I don’t think my wife will ever want to go back, but I will, just for takeout.

The first time I went to Tanner’s, I ordered a fish sandwich with sides of french fries and coleslaw. The fish sandwich was greasy and did not taste very good and the french fries were soggy. The next time I went, I decided I’d try their specialty: burgers. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with their homemade orange juice(or orange soda?). The burger was one of the best I’d ever had, but the orange drink tasted a bit watered down. Overall, I enjoyed my second visit to Tanner’s and plan to return here.

Every city/town should have a place like this. Parents took their kids there, and now the kids take THEIR kids there. Nothing fancy or complicated… burger and hotdog baskets, but whatever you get, you have to get a big cup of the orange punch. Not only is it tasty, but they have great chopped ice, so when the punch is gone you have a big cup of great crunching ice(if you’re an ice eater).

Tanner‘s Big Organge is a local Greenville treasure! They have benn serving Greenville for over 70 years! I am 40 years old and the place still looks excatly like it did when I was a kid! They have great Hog Dog Plates, CheeseBurger Plates and Ice Cream. They are widely known for their Famous Orange Punch. My taste buds crave some of it right now!
