We came in for a late lunch while waiting for our car to be detailed. We love local places, real food made by real people instead of corporations, and this was fun, loud, local, with decent food. They are not open any weekends so we’ll come back again, earlier in the day. Our fried chicken breast had great flavor but was a bit dry, probably because we came so late in the day. We bought a second piece right of the fryer which was delicious, huge and moist! The roasted red potatoes were tender and buttery, my husband had two servings, then ate almost all the mustard greens which were a bit too salty for me. The Mac and cheese was nice and hot and we could see a couple of different cheese types in it. The food was good, and we will be back. Come here instead of a corporate restaurant chain!

3 stars for the Mac n cheese, chicken and the cornbread. YUMMO, really, really good. The above-listed items were better than most places I have dined in. Not a fan of the rice. Grandma’s and Carolina Kitchen’s rice is much better. Overall a nice place to eat with good prices.

Apparently being rude to the customers is the norm for the owner son. It is very apparent by his attitude that he is never had a real job in his life that is always been a daddy’s boy. His father needs to knock his ass off his shoulders and tell him to get to work and not be such a lazy example to his employees who all freely speak poorly of him and his work ethic.

Love finding good food in homey places. This southern style diner does soul food right, for breakfast and lunch. On the cheap with a smiling staff.

This is cafeteria style southern food at its best. Don’t expect wait service and trendy décor. Do expect FANTASTIC fried chicken — OMG — SOFREAKIN’ JUICY, crispy, salty, did I mention juicy? I’ve had a lot of fried chicken across the country, and this is in my top 5. Also, expect crazy good cornbread, fried okra, and mac-n-cheese. I’ll go out on a limb and say everything here is good. I certainly wanted to try everything. Also, the employees are so nice! I’m not used to all nice all the time. I’m from So Cal. We’re used to kinda nice some of the time. Anyway, I would MOSTDEF eat here again. Love it!

We went for lunch, and walked into a madhouse — very crowded and chaotic, and the kitchen was not able to keep up with the demand for fried fish or chicken. I don’t know if this is the typical«meat &3», as I am knew to the concept. It reminds me of a military chow hall; you walk down the cafeteria-style line, telling each server what to add to your plate from various steamer trays. The food was about the same quality, too. If this is your idea of home cooking, I feel sorry for you. Not impressive food in quality or quantity.

For $ 7, you can be rest assured that you will walk away with a satisfying food coma. However, if you’re like me(someone who must sample everything), then you’re screwed… in a goodway, of course. As my co-worker and I arrived at around 11:30, the parking lot was already maxxed out to its full capacity. We knew we were in for a treat by the looks of this. As you enter the doors of this fine establishment, you’re enthralled by genuine hospitality from the folks at OJ’s while your nose is pleasantly indulged by the wonderful aroma of mom’s home cooking. When you step in line, you’re presented with a cornucopia of home cooking. You must decide, mom’s meat loaf, papa’s turkey, Southern comfort fried chicken, or whatever daily special they have? If you decide to opt«all of the above,» you’re insane and you will need a wheel barrel so you can be hauled out by the end of the feast(granted, you will leave in a euphoric state). Just when you thought you’re done selecting a choice of meat, you’re then faced with the daunting task of selecting your sides/fixings to compliment your meat. Dressing, biscuit, corn bread, mac n cheese, sweet potato soufflé, rice n gravy, collard and greens, mashed potatoes, etc… They’re all splendid. My co-worker and I had the opportunity to try the turkey, meatloaf, and fried chicken. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either. The simplicity of the turkey and cranberry sauce, with the side of rice and gravy by itself was a taste of a «Harold and Kumar go to White Castle» moment. The rich flavor induced meatloaf, slathered in creamy mashed potatoes, white gravy, and corn further enhanced the goodness. For dessert, the savory and moist fried chicken, collard greens, and mac n cheese achieved a total knock out and we were out cold.

I had a lot of people tell me about how good the food is at this place. Today I finally had the chance to experience first hand on the word of mouth reviews. This place was so good that I ate there twice in one day. Breakfast I ordered cheese grits, salmon patty, w/scrambled eggs. Lunch I had turkey, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, and stuffing. I don’t think I have to say anything more if I went and ate here twice in one day. Go check it out for yourself if you want some down to earth home cooking from a great family of people.
