For sure this is the best breakfast in town for as long as I can remember! French toast is to die for. Servers are some of the friendliest in town. Just remember this is the Stax’s Original on Poinsett Hwy. and no other Stax or similar name can compare. I have been coming here for years. It is truly a Greenville Milestone.

THIS is the kind of place I think about when I crave a down home southern breakfast. The bacon is the best I’ve EVER had, the sweet tea is delicious, and the rest of the food will make you eat until you are forced to buy the next size up.

No frills old school diner breakfast. Very friendly owner, host and despite a crowded entrance, we were seated quickly when we came here for Christmas eve breakfast. A great option for a old timey, unadorned diner breakfast.

Absolutely the BEST breakfast in town ! French toast, pancakes, omelets and on and on. The lunch specials are great as well. Do not come if you are in a hurry, this is food cooked to order and meant to be enjoyed. The staff is super and most have been employees forever. If you don’t run into someone you know, you are sure to see a smiling face. One trip and you will be hooked!

This is a very typical diner set up. Menu is also pretty standard diner fare. I stopped for lunch on my way out of town. The server was what one would think of as a great diner waitress. She was bubbly, super sweet, friendly and in a big hurry. There were no signs, placards or anything like that to say that there were«daily specials» available so I just ordered a burger off the menu. I know I could have asked, but there was just no evidence that there was any options other than the menu. After I had ordered, I overheard another server explaining the lunch options to a nearby table. Anyway, the burger was totally unimpressive, way overcooked and bland. Fries were served lukewarm at best. So, a nice atmosphere with, friendly service but no reason to go back either.

Came for a late breakfast on a Saturday, and the parking lot was completely full, with a line out the door. The line moved pretty fast and the food was awesome as usual. My wife had French toast and I had a western omelette. Both were made perfectly. The staff is friendly and efficient. If you are looking for a traditional diner meal, this is the best place around!

Here’s why it’s a one star rating … I was visiting the area and had eaten at a different Stax several times and thought the food quality was worthy of another visit to a new location. It was a Sunday around 10:45 am. I was very hungry and stopped in and was told to sit where I wanted. I found a small table and asked for a water. The waitress asked if I wanted breakfast or lunch. I said I wasn’t sure so she gave me both menus. After a few minutes I decided on breakfast and was so looking forward to trying their breakfast. The waitress returned and asked if I was ready. I said yes, I would like the breakfast special. She responded by telling me that breakfast was over. I was stunned. She took the menus from me and I was so embarrased that I got up and left. I went down the street to another place and a customer told me that Stax serves breakfast 24⁄7. I will never go back. I never experienced anything like that before.

Some places advertise ‘beyond ordinary’. This place was on the way there– fully ordinary. Actually that would be a generous description after being there experiencing bad pancakes I swear were 30 minutes old, runny flavorless eggs and ordinary gas station tasting coffee. I would say the cut and dry waitress being friendly and that the bad food was brought quickly were the two redeeming points of the breakfast with friends. Organic, fresh, local, gmo free– I would think a discussion of these topics with the cook would bring a questioning stare. Keep driving toward Main Street.

Amazing breakfast and great service. We stopped in after a weekend of moving– tired, hungry and sore and desperate for coffee. We were sat promptly and greeted with coffee and water quickly. The pancakes were huge, hot and delicious. Biscuits and gravy platter was fresh and yummy with lots of black pepper and crumbled sausage in the gravy. And throughout the meal, the server kept the coffee coming. We’ll definitely be back.

We used to eat lunch there everyday and breakfast most of the time great waffles, cooked like I liked them. I just get tired of same food I am kind of a pizza, burger woman myself. They do make great good we used to order out Thanksgiving dishes from them like we will this year. Well worth it.
