I would come back here as this is very local to where I live but I would say the taco’s are so so.

Great local hangout. Each time we go we try a different taco. Our favorites are the Portabella, Korean BBQ, Tequila Lime Chicken tacos. Working our way through the rest of the menu. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Shout out to Dawn and Doug. Don’t miss the local art on the wall from .

A friend and I went here for a late dinner during the week and had a great meal. The guacamole wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but the portobello tacos were amazing– definitely worth a try, especially with the habanero lime sauce. If you’re vegetarian like me you’ll want to ask about how the sides are prepared– most were cooked with ham or chicken broth(the rice), so be sensitive to that. Our waitress was more than helpful in suggesting items that were meatless though. I would definitely suggest this restaurant, I’ll be back for those tacos sooner rather than later!

This spot is 2 blocks over from us, which makes me so sad that our experience is consistently terrible. The food concept is awesome, but the execution is not so awesome. The service is always bad, especially if you are not in the bar. They have one good bartender(I can’t remember his name), but the service is always lacking. In the beginning, it was always packed, but no one goes there anymore. Their marketing efforts have stopped and I’m just so sad for this place! We started ordering takeout to avoid the service, but it is even worse! My fiancé’s cheese wasn’t melted on his quesadilla! I feel all the sads for them and hope they get their act together. They will be just another business in that spot that never makes it!

There tacos are delicious. Im partial to the Korean bbq taco and the shrimp taco, with the Mexican tater tots and/or their rice on the side. I am also impressed with the fact that their takeout is just as good, because they don’t mess it up. I think that their tacos are also pretty filling, which is good, because you get a pretty decent«bang for your buck».

The service was awful. Food came fast but you could tell it wasn’t fresh. We ordered quest and chips. The queso refused to stay on the chip because of it being so runny. The tacos tasted ok… I got the spicy shrimp and Korean bbq with Mexican rice and black beans. The sides were awful. What’s even worse is the price. We were referred by a couple friends and can’t believe the experience we received in comparison. Maybe it was an off night for the place but we won’t be returning. *update* My husband and I revisited the restaurant after the GM reached out to help fix the experience which was definitely impressive. The second visit was much better. We chose different entrees; smoked brisket enchiladas and chicken fajitas. Everything was absolutely delicious! However, we had the same server again, who was surprisingly training a new employee. The server doesn’t reflect at all what I think the GM wants The Local Taco name to be. She was not very friendly and showed absolutely so care for us whatsoever. I would definitely go again but just make sure to sit in the section of this other server who had the most upbeat personality I’ve ever seen. He cleared a few plates of for us and you could tell he truly enjoyed working for people.

We were very unimpressed with this establishment. The service was terrible, you can’t get happy hour prices at the table, but you can at the bar. I’ve never heard that before. I had the brisket tacos and mexi tots. The tots were pretty good, and the tacos were good. The prices are very high though(11 dollars for 2 tacos and 3 tots, which were larger than normal tots). You even had to pay for chips and salsa. I was disappointed with the experience.

Decent food. Service was horrendous. Server didn’t check on us and never brought drink refills when we asked 3 times or chip refills for the guacamole, and salsa we paid 8 dollars for.

I was absolutely thrilled to find such a beautiful restaurant just slightly hidden back from busy Augusta Street, and was really excited to give it a try. The fist time, I ordered a combo: — korean bbq taco(meat was okay, not great) — portabella mushroom taco(almost empty, you wouldn’t even know there were mushrooms if the menu hadn’t said so) –side of mexi-tater tots(they give you only three, disappointingly bland, fried pieces of potato) great price, and still not worth it. Plus, I got a pumpkin cheesecake on special, which was pretty good. A nice surprise after the disappointing meal. But, I wanted to give them another chance, so I went back today. To-go, I had: –Texadilla(their saving grace was the chipotle bbq sauce that came with it. .. this dish has shown me they DO have potential) –side of jalapeño cole slaw(truly disgusting *regular* cole slaw with a few slices of jalapeño on top. Everything else here is okay, but I would highly recommend avoiding this side.) I may come back for the convenience in location. It’s nice they have their own parking lot and are not in the crowded downtown. Overall, the place is very pretty, but the food is incredibly disappointing.

I stopped to get take out while on an errand at lunch. I’d been anxious to try it since another location is opening soon close to my home. Although I thought the food was fine, if not a little overpriced for the portion size, I was disappointed in the customer service. Lunchtime is counter service and the young lady taking orders was friendly and attentive. I was waiting in line behind two other women. A fourth woman entered the door behind me. One of the wait staff working the floor recognized the woman behind me, asked her what she wanted to order, then proceeded to remove her from line and ring her up on another register. She was served and out the door while me and the two other women continued to wait. My order was supposed to come with soup. The same wait staff asked me which soup I ordered and I confirmed my original order of butternut squash soup. She returned a minute or so later with the wrong soup. As I was already running late getting back to the office, I decided to be happy with it. The soup was delicious and the mushroom/spinach enchilada was good. Although I would try it again, at this point is falls fairly low on my «must go» list of restaurants. I’ve had much better food and excellent service at other locations in town.

Local Taco is a pretty great place. It has a spacious patio for nice weather and ample inside seating too. There have been a few times when service is a little too slow but for the most part it is prompt and attentive. The tacos are a fusion-y mix of flavors and are all pretty tasty. The Norwood’s Crown drink with fresh mint is delicious!

Frequent this place a good bit after work during the week for happy hour. Specials are only served on the bar side so make sure you sit there if you plan to drink. $ 2 dos equis and montejo’s(and other beers) during happy hour along with typical margarita specials. Bartenders are always great, prompt service and sociable which makes for a good time. Salsa’s are $ 1 a piece on happy hour and are all really good(however not having free salsa is one of the only drawbacks of this place, I feel that should be a standard at Mexican restaurants). Tacos are always delicious and they have a lot of unique choices(similar to Gringos which is another great Mexican place downtown). Have a different special every day which I normally will give a shot and am never disappointed. Definitely somewhere you need to try if you haven’t.

I really like Local Taco. I’ve always had good food there and the staff is always incredibly friendly. I think I’d eat there more if it were closer to my everyday AO.

Fantastic atmosphere and great food!!! I have had the two tacos plate with one side everytime I go. You can not beat this deal. So far I have had tried: Local BBQ Korean BBQ(THEBEST!!!) Smoked BBQ Grilled Steak All of which have been very delicious. I have only gotten one side because it tickles my fancy and it is the Mexican Tater Tots. The Guac and Queso are REALLYGOOD!!! The queso is comparable to my most favorite white queso, and 6 hours closer lol. We asked the server to recommend a salsa and she went with the red. The salsa was less than desirable. Flavor lacking and just was not good. The margaritas are really good here. I normally do not like Margaritas because they taste like butt, but these have flavors that are balanced and don’t taste like pure tequila. They are by no means are weak, they can get you a quick buzz. The service has been good and the food has come out at a reasonable pace. The inner décor is nice but the chairs are a little uncomfortable.

I’ve been there a couple times — most recently for brunch on sunday. The atmosphere is nice, although the booths are just flat pieces of wood — not the most comfortable. The prices and the amount of food you get are a little off. $ 3.75 for a very small taco. They’re very good, they just don’t feel substantial enough to fill you up without eating at least three of them. For brunch, the«Sides» were $ 2.50 each — the price is left off the printed brunch menu. I opted for both the breakfast hash and grits. They were both tasty, but the portion sizes were entirely too small — especially for the grits, which have got to be one of the cheapest foods on earth. It’s a fun little restaurant to hit up every once in awhile when you’re not starving and have plenty of time to kill, but the service and portion sizes/prices keep it just out of reach of being a regular spot.

The strawberry margarita is so delicious. My sister got hers with vodka, which was just as tasty. I got the spicy shrimp taco, which was good, but I liked the fish taco better! I can’t wait to come back. Also the atmosphere and music is great.

Was excited to try this place! Cute place. Decent service. But was kinda disappointed with the food. Got 2 tacos w. 2 sides $ 11: 1 tequila lime chicken taco, ah not much flavor. 1 Korean BBQ taco, ok better of the 2. With Mexican rice, disappointed very dry and pinto bean which usually my favorite at Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants but these didn’t seem all the way cooked and lack of flavor. Wasn’t very filling… ended up going some else to have dessert. Needless to say wasn’t impressed. May or may not try it again. P. s. they charge pretty high for Dos Equis. So didn’t get to enjoy a beer with my meal.

My sister and I discovered this spot on our way to the Post Office and then, later we saw it advertised a coupon on Living Social. I decided to purchase one of the coupons and try it out… so glad that I did! Our server, Nate, was awesome and provided plenty of wonderful menu suggestions. He was friendly, cheerful and got our food out quickly. The Southern Fried Chicken taco is a new fave and I love the cheese dip! I haven’t tried anything that I didn’t love on the menu. So far, so great!

Hidden GEM! My fiancé and i stopped in for a late lunch and minus one gentleman at the bar we were the only ones in there. We decided to sit out under the little patio area. he bartender promptly greeted us and we both ordered a Beer-Ita. It was so good! The best beer-ita I have had to date! We started off with the queso dip and it did not let us down at all! There is a place we have visited and we thought they made the best queso… guess again. Local Taco has it! The chips it came with are a little ehh… they could use some type of pepper seasoning on them. For lunch I order the Tequila Lime Chicken and the Grilled Steak Taco with a side of mexican rice. The tacos were amazing! So tasty and they were both a tad spicy but they were so good that I finished them both!(very rarely do I ever finish my food when eating out). The rice was ok but my fiancé got the Mexi Tater Tots and they were yummy(small portion size but good). We can’t wait to come back!

I’ve been really excited to try The Local Taco. If I had the capital and the know-how, I would have opened a restaurant exactly like this in this location. Ever since Meador’s closed, this building has had hard luck. Nothing has been able to stay open longer than a few months. The Local Taco will break that pattern. They have done a great job with the building, making good use of space and adding a bar inside and two decks outside. For lunch I really enjoyed the guacamole and fresh hot chips. It was bowl-looking good! I followed this with two tacos — Local BBQ and Tequila Lime Chicken. The BBQ was great. The chicken was not as much of a standout. But in both cases the meat was tender and flavorful. There are many choices other than tacos on the menu! There are also daily specials. I noticed a few beers on draft and there is a whole page of margaritas I can’t wait to try. I was also excited to see that The Local Taco sources food from several local farms that are listed on a chalkboard. I had my 20 month old daughter with me and when the young lady who took my order(you order at the counter when you enter) saw me struggling to carry everything, she escorted me to a table, got me a high chair, and brought my drink and silverware over for me. This was so appreciated! We need MORE restaurants like this in Greenville. These types of places are great to bring kids of any age, but if you want to have some adult-only time the bar has several high top tables and a cozy corner elevated booth. The Local Taco is perfect for the Augusta Road area and it will do great during the warm months when I predict the deck will be packed from open to close! No, I don’t have the least bit of affiliation with the place. I just love to see a restaurant hit their demographic perfectly.
