Pupusas and black beans were the best things I ate there. It seems like they make their own corn tortillas too bc they were thick and delicious. Everything was fresh and with rich flavors. Prices were comparable to any average Mexican restaurant and the portions were generous. Seems like a family run place. Very polite and friendly service. Will definitely be back!

Fantastic!!! We loved every part of our meal. Very authentic, fresh ingredients made especially delicious by homemade tortillas.

Food was great. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. Salsa’s on the bar are very spicy but good. I will be back.

Very unusual food but very tasty. The salsa bar is for someone that doesn’t like Mexican food. The girls are super friendly and the place is clean. I’ll be back

Don’t let the racy sign outside intimidate you! Eating there was like Zen and coming home at the same time!!! Warm and welcoming atmosphere, gracious and kind staff, affordable and yummy food that was super fresh and clearly made with LOVE!!! The pupusas were awesome. All of the sauces and condiments were homemade and incredibly delicious. This cuisine reminds me of the homemade spots in NYC where no maybe what you order, it is going to be fantastic. Can’t wait to go back! This is my new weekly spot.

This place is for real! Real people serving real food. Don’t worry about what to order, it’s ALL good(of what I’ve sampled so far). My personal favorite is the Salvadorian Chile Relleno. The service is almost too attentive and the people are even better than the food. Go there ASAP.

The three of us had dinner tonight: the fajitas(mixtas and de pollo) and the empanadas de pollo. All good. Dessert — arroz con leche — was heavenly! Service was perfect. We’ll be back.

El Carbonero recently opened on the Eastside, and we just had to try it since we know nothing about Salvadoran food. We have been so pleasantly surprised, we have eaten there three times already. We are getting familiar with the cuisine, and thoroughly enjoy the variety of pupusas on the menu. It would be easy to stay with them at the expense of trying other equally delicious entrees on the menu but that would be a mistake. There is also a variety of Mexican dishes equally tasteful for those more comfortable with known dishes. The staff is very friendly and efficient which adds to the dining experience. The décor is simple and pleasant, but the food is really why we keep going back. If you are up for something different, we highly commend El Carbonero.

Ate here yesterday and it was great! Can recommend the pupusa’s and enchilada’s so far. Will update this review after eating there more. Looking forward to going back! :)
