Food is ok, average, but what an attitude on the older lady behind the counter. I’ve now tried it 3 times but won’t give my money to someone that cranky. You’re supposed to smile when you have customers. Last time I was in there the chef stared at my teenage daughter in a very inappropriate way. Three strikes, you’re out!

When I think of «Dave’s goldmine» I think of pumpkin soup(no ones is better!!!) Lemon chipotle salsa, I keep telling him to bottle it He would make millions!!! Love this place The only reason I don’t eat there ALLTHETIME is because I have reflux and i would gain 50 lbs, because i love everything he makes!

I came today for a second time and was excited to visit again after a great first time experience a few months ago. At my first visit I met the owner, and food and service was superb. This time around while the food was good the service was terrible. I ordered the stew chicken hard taco and the veggie one. The veggie taco was my favorite and my family seemed to enjoy the burritos and bowl salad I ordered for them. On the other hand the young lady that was there was rude and took all the excitement away of coming back. I tried to explain that the directions on Unilocal were wrong and how I had a hard time finding it. You would think that after such helpful information you would get at least a thank you. But no, not even an acknowledgement or eye contact when I was speaking to her. I even tried three times to speak to her, giving her the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she didnt hear me. I hope the owner or owners take the criticisms regarding the customer experience because this place has great potential. Great food + great customer service = success. If ever around the area again I will give it another chance, hopefully things improve.

from LA and this is the closest to the LA Mexican food taste here in the east coast. hearty and delicious portions with a wonder sauce/salsa bar. they have your traditional Mexican brand drinks and regular Pepsi products. good spacious seating and it’s never really crowded in there. empty doesn’t necessarily mean bad but we’re always comfortable when we eat there.

Dave’s has everything I want in a Mexican take out. Been going to him for years and he never disappoints. His lunch special for a burrito, small soup and a 16 oz. soda is a great deal.

Solid Tex Mex. Reasonable prices(burritos $ 6.99). Everything prepared to order. Burritos very good, quesadilla nice and crispy, nachos abundant. Sauces/salsa/pico de gallo self serve. Similar place to Green Cactus, but better. Will return when in the mood for this kind of thing. No beer though :-( Churros fried to order. $ 1.50 each. Hot and crunchy.

F-. First impression salsa bar was a disgrace and there was a guy behind the counter with a bandanna on his head that looked like he had come straight from solitary on Rikers Island. I called in my order and explained that I had a 15 $ certificate and an online coupon for a ½ price burrito with the purchase of a full priced one. I asked the woman who took my order(who hardly spoke english(who could barley hear me with telemundo blaring loudly on the TV) if I could use both, and she said yes as long as I had a printed copy of the coupon. When I went to pay the dirty looking guy with the bandanna told me I could not use the ½ price coupon. He got really aggressive and showed his true colors became unglued cursing and carrying on when I politely told him I did not want the second Burrito. All this over a $ 3 additional discount I left the entire 40 $ order on the counter and went up the road to 3 amigos where I was greeted by a friendly staff and got awesome food PS I told the owner of 3 amigos what had happened at this dump and he actually gave me 2 free Burritos. Apparently i am not the only one to encounter the prison mentality of this establishment.

Great food! I love the spiced pork taco special. Great salsa options. Reasonable prices. Way better than the popular chains like green cactus and Baja Fresh.

I can’t believe all the positive reviews, it’s like nobody has ever had good Tex-Mex before. The only redeeming quality of Godmine is the price. I’ve been there probably 10+ times over the years. Have yet to taste anything good. Not to mention the wife of the store is a complete snob to everyone she encounters.

Accept no substitutes. Dave’s Gold Mine Mexican Grill has great food. Made the tragic mistake of going to a poor imitation recently. Food there was horrible mush. The Gold Mine food is amazing. I’m in love with the Caliente Burrito. Visit their new location further south on Broadway road.

This place is still terrible. It’s actually gotten worse. Don’t even think about substituting something on your order without hell from the staff. The food and extremely poker attitude of the staff is not worth the money. Stay away, much better Spanish food establishments in the local market. Will never, ever be back.

Glad to see them back in business up the road from Greenlawn village. Not the best Tex-Mex on LI, but definitely the best in Greenlawn, and I’m almost never disappointed. Good portions, priced right, made well with quality fresh ingredients. Recommended if you’re in the mood for Mexican near Greenlawn!

The 2 stars is for the food & value only! Went in to try them in there new location after never wanting to return to the Gold Mine for attitude problems @ the counter, being«attacked» @ the salsa bar & un cleanliness! When we first walked in the door the trash can was right there by the front door, I noticed right away from the stench coming from it & it was overflowing with trash! Next thing that got our attention was the TV blaring Telemundo! Not many PPL there! Looked over menu ordered our favorites, the girl @ counter seemed preoccupied & was back in forth in spanish with the owner? I wanted a steak & chicken taco salad & it seemed to B a problem for her? We paid & noticed she was wearing gloves while handling money & register! While waiting for our food to B prepared we went to salsa bar area to get utensils & salsa, everything almost empty & had not been kept clean & this was prime eating time bout 6PM! Went & sat down, waiting for our food, few more customers came in & started complaining bout(yep U guessed it no utensils salsa bar,& did I mention the salsa cups & lids) so after a few minutes & some yelling in spanish the girl came out & first lifted the trash top & pushed the trash down with her GLOVEDHANDS still pretty full! Then opened up cabinets near salsa bar & pulled out boxes of napkins, utensils, cups etc., she proceeded to fill the empty areas with those same gloves still on? More customers coming in &PPL @ counter getting annoyed because there not being helped by the counter girl she & the owner in back still loudly exchanging words in spanish, I guess she was needed @ counter don’t ya think? So eventually we got our food, like I started this review the food was Great & the prices are reasonable that is the only reason they get 2 stars! I will not B returning to The Gold Mine! I now will go to Tres-Amigos next to Jimmy’s Pizza, where The Gold Mine old location was! I can not wait for Green Cactus to open as well the King of great Mexican food!

Happy this place is up and running because Dave’s food has definitely been missed in my house the last few months. This is my family’s go to place for Mexican food for a few reasons: it’s nearby, it’s cheap, portions are big, healthier than other Mexican places and most important the food is always fresh. I have tried almost every burrito on his menu, the cajun chicken is some of the best I’ve ever had. I like the golden burrito, mexi-melt, acapulco and veggie options. You can ask for whole wheat wraps too which is great. I love the black bean soup here as well. Sometimes I will go in and make up my own dish and Dave has no problem making this happen. The new place is clean, modern and festive! Check it out if you haven’t already!

Just tried them since they re-opened after moving. Food is as good as we remember! Dave was at the counter so hopefully we won’t have the problems with the obnoxious counter help as we have had in the past. We’ll be back!

Absolutely the best Mexican food in the area. New restaurant is beautiful, staff great, and Dave a master at making delicious food!
