I am not sure I understand the really negative reviews. I had a perfectly pleasant meal here with a friend who has a potentially lethal seafood allergy. We eat at kosher restaurants exclusively to avoid potential cross contamination. Our food was fresh and tasty and the service was fine. The place didn’t look dirty to me at all. We weren’t rushed. I would definitely go back.

I think it’s great kosher Chinese. Service maybe a bit pushy but overall good. Have room for a stroller, I liked their dishes. If you in a mood for kosher Chinese, go for it! We did enjoy it.

Alright, so first of all — I’ve been going to cho-sen village for a very long time maybe a few years. Horrible service and the servers have real bad attitude. They don’t care about taking your order right and will serve you the wrong things over and over again. The food is generally greasy, and low quality kosher food. Very expensive and overpriced for sure. DONOT order takeout because that’s another nightmare. Takes super long for them to bring the food and once again, they usually screw up the order anyway. Altogether i give this place two stars because that’s what they truly deserve.

Can’t say enough about the freshest most delicious Chinese food in Great Neck! Their sushi rocks and the take-out service is spectacular.

Very rude, over priced, and filthy. They had the exterminator come in recently because they had roaches in their kitchen. Never buying food from here again nor any of you should buy food from here again! I hope they close down!

Incredibly rude service, tried calling for 20 min , they kept hanging up saying they didn’t take calls from people they didn’t know(caller id). Expensive, not worth the expense. Very oilily, bland

I wasn’t expecting it to be good after reading the other reviews. The staff is pleasant and the waiters were very polite. I have had good Chinese and bad Chinese. Not being kosher I really could have gone for some shrimp and pork but it is what it is. The General Tzos was dry and bland, so were the dumplings. But the crispy beef had a nice kick and Hunan beef was flavorful. We didn’t get the spring rolls until we asked twice for them. They were tasteless. All in all, I prefer the Szechuan in Flushing but with kosher companions this is decent.

Awful customer service! They hung up on me while l was getting the telephone number to give them. The woman who answers the phone can barely speak English. Really horrible. Eww!

If there were a way to rate it with less than one star, I would do it. I am kosher, so it’s a treat for me to eat out, especially Chinese food. Have eaten there many, many times in the last 5 years or more, and have always just endured the service, enjoying the chance to eat meat in a restaurant. I called several weeks ago for a reservation(for 2 people), was told that there was nothing until more than an hour later, so I ordered take-out. When I got to the restaurant, it was virtually empty. I asked if we could simply have our meal in the restaurant, at one of the unoccupied tables. The«General Manager» told me it could not be done — that take-out is a totally different business than dining-in. I said«you use the same cash register, and I’m eating the same food», so what difference does it make? He said to me, and I quote: «I know all about YOU people. Your’e always looking for ways around the rules, and try to sneak in when we’re busy.» Seriously? Sneak in? Busy? YOUPEOPLE? Well, I took my food and left… Let’s remember: WE are the ones who keep filling your cash register. Then 2 weeks later, again I ordered(against my better judgement), and went to pick up. There had been a mistake(MY mistake), in that I double-ordered a quart of soup. Soup. Nothing that had been«made to order». I asked them to take back one of the quarts. Same guy started yelling at me again, and told me I can never come back into his restaurant again. they obviously don’t care about customer service, or even just decent manners. I have NEVER been treated like that in a restaurant, in public, and remember — I was a frequent customer. NEVERAGAIN. All the negative reviews that have been posted seem to agree with me. Unfortunately, at this point, it’s still the only kosher Chinese restaurant in a town filled with people who like to eat out, and who are kosher — and who are somehow willing to tolerate mediocrity and rudeness.

The worse food Ever. Lost my appetite when the chicken with broccoli was soooo bloody and half frozen. Definitely charging back this. Especially when they said they won’t Exchange it. Extremely rude and Management should go to special customer handling school. Rip off joint Sounds just like a front for money laundering. If customer service is not their priority

The food very oily and very expensive. the service is hurdle, they rush the food to you so you can eat and leave they know they the only Chinese kosher in great neck so they don’t care abut the service.

Kosher Chinese food. Not authentic. Way too expensive. The vegetable lo mein is good. The wonton soup was way too salty, I actually had to add ½ cup water to each portion… otherwise it is inedible. The chicken with string beans is good but the sauces is lumpy and gelatinous. The quality of the chicken is pretty good. They do not deliver to all of great neck. The employees are not very friendly. I will probably not be ordering from them again.

Easily the best kosher Chinese restaurant on the planet. Crispy spicy chicken or beef, any of the lo meins and the sesame chicken are all awesome. In over 10 years, I’ve never had a bad meal and I am just stunned to read a bad review. My kosher and non-kosher friends love Cho-Sen.

I pick up the food for the kids and it was all set up and waiting for me when I got there. The employees were very polite. The kids enjoyed the food, no complaints, and these kids are pretty picky eaters. The facility was very clean and had nice decorations.

First off, I have to say that Chosen Village wins the award for WORST customer service in Great Neck NY. The employees there cant even manage to greet their patrons. I mean come on, when your paying $ 35 for a plate of Chinese Food at a so called elegant restaurant, the least you can expect is a decent waiter who wont argue with you when you politely tell him them that the chicken tastes old and dry OR that the lettuce and tomatoes on the salad are not fresh !!! Plus to top this off, When we tried speaking to the General Manger, Mr Henry(I think thats his name) he shouted«I AMNOTINTERESTEDINSPEAKINGWITHYOUPEOPLE» ! He yelled at us in front of the entire restaurant! At that point, my 8 month pregnant wife became a tad frustrated and started to tell him as politely as she could about how his employee screamed at our 2 year old toddler for knocking down his glass on the floor!!! They were not even interested in resolving the issue… Henry just yelled back «YOUDON’T HAVETOCOMEBACKHERE, NOONEFORCEDYOUTOEATHERE!»
That’s it… We had it! In my life time no one ever spoke to me like that in front of my wife and kids. We were stunned! We proceeded to pay the bill(we hadn’t even started to eat) and without another word, left the ” Restaurant” they call Chosen Village. After mentioning my experience to the Head Rabbi of Great Neck, he told me that this has already been an ongoing issue with Henry and his Restaurant and that most of the community leaders already advised the community against going there … he also mentioned to me how Henry constantly degrades the Mashgiach(kosher supervisor) and frequently yells at him in front of customers and his other employees!(I would not have believed it, if the same thing hadn’t just happened to me.) How can a Restaurant that hates its own community stay in business this long? Why do we give our business or kosher certification to such blatant ANTI-SEMITES? Time will tell, trust me !

I’ve been a customer of Cho-Sen Village ever since they opened up. Whenever I’d stop by to eat or takeout, i’d be greeted by their friendly staff including their professional manager, Henry! The foods amazing, the pricing is very fair, and the atmosphere is superb. Would recommend this place to a friend.

This restaurant is kosher(Va’ad of Queens) Chinese/Japanese food. The hostess and manager/owner were nice and the room is acceptable. A cut above other restaurants. Food is fairly expensive and average. The sushi and vegetarian eggplant in garlic sauce was not good. Beef dishes(Hunan beef) were good. Service was old time Catskills — grumpy, but efficient. Very humorous if you remember meals at Kutshers, Browns, Fallsview, etc. if you weren’t from that age, it would considered rude(but it really isn’t).

Pretty good chinese food and sushi, mediocre service at best… gets extremely crowded in the evenings, with 30 – 45 min wait without a res.
