Marty and Jim’s

Marty and Jim’s is unassuming, but it is the destination for an excellent meal that’s a good value. Long-​time Berkshire residents Marty and Jim serve up ample, tasty burgers and deli sandwiches, salads and soups. The sandwiches are superb (they have awesome gluten free bread too) and the soups are home made and tasty. Jim roast all the sandwich meats in-​house daily, and they are fresh and savory. He also makes all the soups and has a fridge full of delicious «to go» dishes, including pastas for dinner. Their standards in food prep are top notch. It is a neighborhood place where everyone is welcome and you can seriously get your «Reuben» on.

First things first, I use Unilocal for everything wherever I go. This is my first review EVER, for good reason. My co workers and I have ordered from here multiple times and have always had a good experience, until recently. This past Saturday my co worker ordered a chicken salad wrap. A few bites in and she finds a chicken bone about an inch and a half long. We get it, it’s homemade, bones sometimes happen. After moving past the bone, she decides to take another bite. As she does so, she then says to all of us «please don’t let this be what I think it is!» As she spits out a mouth full of food and A PIECE OF CHEWED PINK GUM! We were all horrified and stopped eating and threw all of our food away. We called and asked to speak to the manager/​owner Marty. The only thing she had to say for herself and her staff was that «no one here chews gum.» WELL SOMEONE OBVIOUSLY DOES! There was no apology, no offer to reimburse us, no nothing, just denial. Our business spends close to $ 100 every time we order from here, we are very generous and loyal to our local businesses. As a business owner, you should have the decency to at least attempt to right your wrongs. So disappointing to say the least, we will no longer be giving this place any of our business ever again, as well as no longer sending our clients to you.

Got a burger. Cooked EXACTLY how I liked it! Huge burger for the price too.

Great little stop from the road. Pulled pork tasty, delicious. Lady enjoyed her chicken wrap. Fries solid. Would go back.

I had an excellent italian grinder. With plenty of cold cuts and peppers and a little kick in it. The hero bread is fine but not great. Very friendly staff. Lots of specials including home made briskets and other cuts i would try. Décor is upscale quiznos however. Outdoor seating is just two picnic tables on the roadside.

What a great place! I was craving a deli sandwich and this place definitely satisfied that craving! It doesn’t look like a deli, it’s a converted, old, yellow house; but it’s such a gem!
When I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly staff behind the counter. There are several refrigerator machines that have pre-​made dinners that you can take home and heat up. I didn’t get any, but they had lots of different choices that looked great like macaroni and cheese, pastas, etc… There were also pre-​made macaroni salads, hummus, and cucumber salads, as well as desserts like apple pie and cheesecake with an orange rum glaze!
The menu was simple with a variety of hot and cold sandwich creations or a build your own section. They had salads too. There are soup specials and today’s was a chilled gazpacho (perfect since it’s so hot!). I ordered the Club with ham, roast beef, muenster, lettuce, mayo, and bacon on white toast. It was delicious and piled high with meat. It only took a few minutes to have my sandwich ready to go. It was amazing!
My husband had gone there the day before and ordered the Italian, giving it rave reviews. Additionally, we don’t live in this area, but we have a lot of family and friends from here. They all LOVE this place. :)

Best bacon cheese burger I’ve had in a long time! And I brought home some of their soups, and thought they were excellent (mushroom, chicken noodle, beef and barley).
