Sal’s Transmissions

I have to say great ppl, nice ppl professional and patient. Sal’s Jr is the perfect gentleman and a good guy. They worked on my car, (transmission) and it was done in 3 days. I will defiantly come back.

Sometimes it’s not the transmission. We had an experience with our family car slipping and stalling and getting stuck. We got stranded right off the Belt Parkway and had it towed to Sal’s Transmissions which was recommended by a friend. We expected the worse and a big bill. Instead we got a professional inspection, a reasonable bill and fast service! It’s great to find an honest mechanic who diagnosed the problem and did not try to sell us a new transmission when we didn’t need one, Thanks Sal!

This place used to be great. I brought my car here in October 2014 for a new transmission and they were wonderful. Came back to have it checked after 30 days, no problem. Had a slight leak, brought it back they took me right in, fixed it (bad washer) and I was on my way.
Now to today. I drive to Sal’s only to find that they are no longer at the old location. They’re now located about a mile and half away. Ok, no biggie. So get to the new location at 8:25 and tell them I need to have it checked again because there’s more leaking. The owner takes it for a ride, tells me it feels ok but wants to check it. Ok great, give me a few minutes he says. It’s now 10:27am and I’m STILL sitting here waiting for my car to be looked at.
I don’t know if it’s because the younger owner isn’t in today but this is awful. Once the warranty is up here, I’ll be happy to not have to deal with this again.

I have a mercury mountaineer 2008 and what you don’t want happening did. My transmission blew and needed to have it rebuilt. Sals transmissions was the closest place I manages to drive it to.
They where very professional and explained everything that was wrong with the car. Fixed everything that was wrong with the mountaineer and its running great. I’d recommend them to anyone. Even helped me when I needed a rental car. Great mechanic shop to deal with.

Took my daughter’s car here at the recommendation of my regular mechanic. The engine light was on due to some transmission sensor. They replaced the sensor and the engine light came back on the next day. I brought the car back and they replaced the sensor again and we haven’t had a problem since. Sal and his son are friendly, courteous people that stood by their work and fixed my problem without hesitation. I wish they had a customer waiting area that you could sit and wait while your car is being fixed. Other than that, my experience with this establishment was great.

Sal Jr. is the man. Honest and knows how to treat potential customers.
In the market for a pre-​owned car, brought in the vehicle for an overall checkup. He took his time and found a laundry list of problems. Probably saved me thousands and didn’t even charge me. Really appreciated that. Just give them a good tip for their time. This shop is great, and even had a Model-​T in the garage. Highly recommend a trip here even if its out of your way!

The best no games my 84 el camino is amazing Sal sr is a gentleman and his son is great too fixed it once answered all my questions and put me at ease … my trans is awesome thanks guys

Good work and no f’n around with ‘new’ problems while there. Will bring all my cars there from now on.
