My husband and I are visiting Grapevine for a conference at the Hilton, right across the street. We went to SnS last night when we got in, and had a good experience with good, reasonably priced food and an AWESOME shake. This morning, we wanted to try breakfast and went back around 7am. Unfortunately. We walked in and — with no customers, no line, no one eating — we waited, waited, and waited, to be seated while the only visible employee talked on her cell phone and ignored us. Finally, my husband went to her and asked to be seated.(She took our eat-in order, which eventually came out wrong and in a soggy to-go container without the toast that goes with it.) While we waited on the food, the manager throws open the women’s bathroom door and shoves the garbage can into the eating area while SHOUTINGACROSSTHEDININGROOM to our waitress that she forgot to put the liners in the cans again. It gets better. The waitress is MIA, so the cook comes out to deliver the(wrong) food and he is so filthy dirty that we didn’t want to eat anything he touched. Then here comes the waitress to check on us – STRAIGHTOUTOFTHERESTROOMS, holding a rag, two bottles of spray cleaner, and AGAIN with her cell phone in her ear. WHODOESTHAT? We just wanted to leave. So we went to pay out and my husband tried to talk to the manager about our dining experience and she was nothing but rude and obstinate. Horrible service and appalling management that do not care to receive constructive criticism or improve in any way. We’re visiting through the weekend, but we won’t be back to SnS.

I walked in with four other friends 2am on a Tuesday. There were two other parties of 3 in there, leaving as we came in. The sign at the front said«Please wait to be seated» so we did as it read. We waited at least five minutes before the cook peeped around the corner and told us to sit where we wanted. After an additional five minutes(keep in mind we are the ONLY group in the restaurant) a server walks over. «What do you want to drink?» I’m not going to nitpick THAT much to say I would prefer at LEAST a «Hi, my name is _____, and I’ll be taking care of you today» but that may have made the experience more comfortable. I just felt like a burden to be there. I stared at him and said«Were we supposed to pick up our own menus?» He apologized and walked to get some. We all just stared at each other in awe. After the menus were passed out, we told him what milkshakes we wanted and he didn’t write a single thing down. «Surprisingly» he forgot one order and mixed two up. No waters with the milkshakes as well. After he set the milkshakes down he said«is this all you’re getting?» And he might as well just asked us to leave because we felt like such imposition to eat there. He took our food order and, you guessed it, he didn’t write anything down. He forgot one order AGAIN and came by to clarify. Maybe write it down? At check out we comped the milkshakes although didn’t give us receipts. Will never return to this location unless management steps up.

Sadly im torn about my review. The food was decent but the waitress was alone during a lunch rush. She did amazing by herself but there was a long wait and no drink refills… again, not her fault. Who schedules only 1? Oh. and the bathrooms were the nastiest ive seen in a long time. While place needed a good scrub.

Our experience at this restaurant was enjoyable. In particular, our waitress, Erin did a great job in taking care of our family’s order and checking in on us. The food was fresh and the milkshakes were very tasty. All left content and pleased.

Holy smokes, I never complain about a place but this is a first. The slider bus were cut up hot dog buns. Three tables were never cleaned and we were there over an hour. We sat for 6 minutes and no one greeted us. Shake machine is broke. Seriously this was BAD

Horrible place! We came in and waited forever to be seated. There was almost no one there. Finally we got a table and sat there for 20 minutes without being talked to at all. No drink order or anything! Finally we got up and left and I told the manager on the way out that no one had bothered with us. She said sorry and kept walking. Worst place ever!!!

The worst Steak n Shake we have ever been to. Stopped for lunch. Place was dirty, from the floors under the tables to dried who knows what on the salt shaker. If we hadn’t already order we would have left. One thing Steak n Shake is known for is their fries. This place doesn’t know that. Fries were old and greasy. This is one Steak n Shake we will not return to. If we could give it zero stars we would.

First time at this steak and shake this morning. Granted it was an over night shift, around 4 am. Service was extremely poor. Walk in, cook tells me someone will be with me shortly. After about 5 minutes he finally tells me to just sit where I want. There was a single table of 3 in the restaurant other than me. He takes them their food, brings me a menu and walks away without getting a drink order. Menu seems significantly limited compared to other steak and shakes I’ve been to in the past, thought maybe just an over night menu, but it appeared to be their full menu. After ordering, and being told they’re out of various sides, I got my food decently fast, but never got a refill, nor did he bring me my check at all. Overall bad service. About the only thing consistent with steak and shakes I’ve been to in the last year, is how terrible they are.

We had a family of 5 Friday night, the place was not packed and we were seated. 10 minutes went by no waiter or anything. How do you leave someone for that long and not even get a drink order. We left and went next door to Applebee’s where we were waited on immediately. Never will go back to this location Arlington location is much better.

Terrible experience at this location. They must be barely hanging on and about to go out of business. The serving staff was comically awful the manager was a lazy jerk who was sitting over by the bar area talking to people who by all accounts seemed like off-the-clock employees. He didn’t lift a single finger and then was criticizing his servers about the pace of their work. Truly a sad scene. Drinks weren’t brought to us until AFTER our food arrived. We only ordered waters… Then the people who appeared to be workers off the clock or friends of the manager were just hanging around sitting just outside the front doors(dressed in pajamas) smoking cigarettes constantly. The food wasn’t terrible but the environment and service made my experience here nearly unpalatable. GETDINNERSOMEWHEREELSE!

I have tried giving this restaurant the benefit of the doubt multiple times because the food is actually really good. Unfortunately these poor workers are understaffed every time I’m there. They have one cook and two waiters who have to run food and make the shakes and on top of that try and give customer service. This is often for a full restaurant. I’m sure it results in loss of tips, when it’s not their fault. We were just in the drive thru hoping it would be better and it took 30 minutes when we were the second ones in line. I hope they can get it together for the sake of their employees.

The food is on par with any other steak and shake, but the service here is horrible. I made the mistake of giving them a second chance tonight after experiencing poor service 6 months ago, and it turns out nothing has changed at this location. The waiting staff doesn’t seem to care about being pleasant or giving good service. I had to wait several minutes after being seated to receive a menu. After my food was served(not too long of a wait), the waitress never stopped by again. My drink sat empty for 15 or more minutes before I gave up and left.

Every now and then, I get excited to write a bad review. Not because I’m mean… Namely because it’s the only way to take an awful situation somewhat better. DONOTEATHERE. PERIOD. Honestly: I was really tempted to call corporate and have this restaurant shut down. That’s how awful I was treated here and how bad the food was. The owner of this franchise is gonna lose money. A lot of it. And here’s why: This place is open 24 hrs a day, and we walked in at 10am on July 2nd. There was one table of two, and one table of six. Otherwise this full restaurant was empty. That should have sent off warning bells. But nothing else nearby was open except fast food places. I made of note of at least 6 – 8 un-bussed tables after it took the one waitress 5 – 10 minutes to seat us. Disgusting. The other waiter, was reading his paper and drinking his coke and couldn’t be bothered. So I guess I’m the idiot who decided to stay. I explained at 10:07 we needed to be back at the airport in an hour. But with only 2 tables, 1 of which had food, I figured an hour was no problem. My party, after all, was my mother and myself. That’s it. By 10:20 we had no drinks. And no order. Finally flagging down the one girl who was somewhat working, we finally order. By 10:35 we see our food, and I’m watching it under heat lamps as no one gets it. I’m this close to picking it up myself. I’ve seen the manager, and now 4 waiters from the back appear — but none of them are working. They’re not busing tables, or taking the order of the father and son who walked in after us. They’re not checking with us or offering us refills as we wait. I guess they are doing prep work, I don’t know. Finally the dad gets pissed off and leaves. He’s waited 20 minutes for his food; he’s done. Doesn’t pay for his son’s juice. As he’s leaving he points out that his mug was used and says ‘leave now ladies!‘ Still — I can see our food! But when It comes over. BOTH orders are wrong! My order was a breakfast burger with cheddar and no mayo and medallion hash browns. I got a burger with mayo, and French fries and grated hash browns. Two orders of Potatoes; neither of which I wanted. My mother ordered the cheddar scrambler and there was not a single piece of cheddar cheese or any cheese in it… It’s called the Cheddar scramble for crying out loud?!? It’s 10:40 we can’t have them make another one. My mom sends her plate back and refuses to eat it. I work with the burger. Which was a 3 out 10. I could eat it, it was cooked… But it was cold from being under the heat lamps. The manager comes over and gives us a half ass apology about how she only has two cooks and breakfast foods are harder… It’s 10 am and you’re open 24÷7… Breakfast shouldn’t be a problem… Backwards, blind and drunk I can make a burger and scrambled eggs in 30 minutes. She says she will have my mothers meal removed from the tab. But she’s more like ‘that’s what you get for coming to a burger place for breakfast’ instead of showing any actual service/humility in her wait staffs error. It’s 10:55 I go to pay the check… And both meals are on it. At this point I’m done. I ask my mother to go wait in the car, and I ask the waitress to get the manager. I see the waitress, through the window tell the manager, who can’t be bothered… And instead walks into the fridge. After another 3 – 4 minutes of waiting on the manager I finally raise my voice — as I’m an active duty Lieutenant in the US Navy and have zero problems getting young people to get their act together… ‘ma’am you gonna get out here and fix this bill or what? I saw you ignore your waitress. It’s been 15 minutes since you said you comped the meal that was inedible.‘ When she comes out of the fridge she’s got major attitude. Yes, I’m gonna call you out; if I did my job as poorly as you do yours we’d be speaking Chinese. She’s all like ‘don’t worry both meals are on the house.’ I wasn’t looking for a free meal lady; I was looking for some service. And then as I was leaving. the jerk off waitresses in the back sarcastically yell ‘have a nice day.’ Dripping with disdain; like I am in the wrong for making a scene. I responded with, ‘can’t wait til yall close and you’re all unemployed.‘ WORSTSERVICEINMYLIFE; in the world! And I once had a bar tender throw up on me in Thailand. So it’s saying something when you’re that rude/lazy/incompetent/unapologetic. I’m always the nice gal who never makes a fuss. But this was back to back customer abuse… Nice family, sit down place… Hell no.

Not a good experience today here: — Foyer smells like body odor — Manager running around had the biggest, sweatiest, wet armpit stains ever(see above) — Slow service — Hard hamburger buns — Chili room temp and too thick — like wallpaper paste — Waiter standing where food comes out of kitchen seen biting finger nails and putting fingers in his mouth then picking up food. Gaaa-rossss! — Claw games are a scam. Put a game in there the kids can actually win If this place didn’t share a parking lot with Grapevine Mills Mall and get to ride on their coattails it would be boarded up.
