Very overpriced for what you get. The ‘Demi reduction’ on my filet tasted a lot like barbecue sauce. Also, the carrot cake was FROZEN on the bottom layer… WTF!!! $ 80 for 2 people, and Texas Roadhouse would have been three times the meal and half the price. The cherry on top of the sh! t sundae, was the guy hacking up a very phlegm-y lung every few seconds from back in the kitchen. Never coming back!

Wow. What a disappointment. Driving through town and looked for a dinner spot. Unilocal directed me here. Should have done a drive through instead. The menu was all over the place — didn’t hit steaks until page six. I got intrigued by the appetizers. So I decided to do a salad with two appetizers. Also ordered a Blue Moon beer(bottle) asking first if they had an orange slice — as everyone knows a Blue Moon is served with an orange slice. «I’ll check» was my server’s response. She brought the opened bottle and said«Nope. No oranges.» Why open the bottle if the customer asked for an orange? Why sell Blue Moon if you don’t have any oranges? Salad — no croutons. Hate that. Onion soup — too thick a broth to enjoy. «Famous Homemade chips with ranch dipping sauce» seemed more like chips from the Hy-Vee. Side note: a different server brought my chips and recommended a ranch dipping sauce which she had gratuitously brought. Huh? Thought that’s what I ordered. Nope, according to her(who wasn’t even present when I ordered.) Then she brought me a menu and asked me to show her what I ordered! Yep. What a disappointment. Just glad I didn’t go with my initial instinct to order the potstickers or the Mac & Cheese with lobster. Can’t imagine that train wreck. Guess Uncle Ed just wants you to order a steak — if that’s the case, he shouldn’t have so many other items on his menu then.

I can honestly say that I may have had one of the best steaks EVER at Uncle Ed’s. Was worth every dime! I was just passing through and pretty tired from my drive and Uncle Ed’s was across the street from my hotel. The steak was prepared just the way I like it and seasoned to perfection. I was lucky enough to meet some fine folks at the bar and got to have a sit down with Uncle Ed. He is a super great guy and I feel lucky to have met such kind people in Grand Island, Nevada. I promise I’ll be dropping in when I pass through those neck of the woods again. Thanks Uncle Ed’s!

Mediocre food and expensive. Steaks are hit or miss. Sometimes pretty good, others they taste like they’ve been cooked in a microwave.

We pulled off the interstate for some food. Wasn’t expecting to stop at a Steak House however my Grandpa Eddie would have taken me here just because of the name so we stopped. We walked in and there were only two other people in the place. Made us hesitate at first considering if we wanted to go somewhere else. We ordered their Ruben and Plain Jane Burger with Provolone. It was AMAZING!!! One of the best meals I have had. The burger melted in my mouth, best yet and believe me I know burgers! Ray said his Ruben was delicious. You need to go here if you are in the area. The prices are what you would expect for an upscale steakhouse, maybe on the high side for the area but there are also affordable options as well and you get what you pay for. Great Place!

This is a nice local steakhouse. The owner moved to GI from western Nebraska. You can tell he loves what he does. The menu is nice and simple for lunch with daily specials. They have a lot of room for big groups. I really like their thunderbird salad, their pulled pork sandwich and their grilled cheese with tomato soup!

I was spoiled on our first visit here. The Gorgonzola mushroom strip was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Based on the cooking options they know how to do it right. I opted for black and blue and out came a perfectly seared piece of tender meat. Bonus points for blue cheese crumbles for salad and fresh baked potato. We had a large party on a Saturday night and still had excellent service. Can’t wait to try it again.

I had the blackened, bone in New York strip. Steak was done correctly. That was about it. Nothing great. Nothing to return. Service was ungodly slow. Very polite and nice, but lacking in service. I didn’t even get my salad. That was fine, because the main course was more than enough food. I won’t be back.

Our meal was disappointing at the price and slow, but pleasant service. The place was busy on a Wednesday night, so it must be okay normally. My steak was dry and mealy, not med rare. Baked potato was wet, like at Wendy’s not a higher end restaurant.

For all of you nay-sayers — don’t forget Uncle Ed’s has received both STATE and NATIONAL awards. I can’t tell you which ones because they don’t give you any details — but there have been awards. Kidding aside, we had a great meal here. Your meal comes with a free salad which is generous and a side of bread. I will agree with other Unilocalers that warm bread would be better. We got the lobster Mac and cheese and it was pretty tasty given my expectations. The steaks came and it sealed the deal for us. They were awesome and cooked perfect. Also, on the side of the plate came one of those sweet purple apple slices I haven’t seen since 1991, and I’ll admit I love them. Total throw back to my childhood. Saw a lot of complaints about price too and for a NY’er — $ 30 for salad a steak, potato and the apple slice(priceless in my book) is reasonable but I know nothing about typical Nebraska prices. As for the décor, a lot of people complained but I thought it was fine, plain, clean, what more do you really want? For a road trip stopover I would definitely send you here. I’d say I’d be back but I really don’t think I’m coming back to Nebraska… ever.

We stopped off here whilst driving cross-country and were very impressed. Although the décor was plain, the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We both got steaks, which were excellent, and came with a sausage gravy which was to die for. We both got mashed potatoes — I got the garlic mashed which was delicious and well balanced(no bad breath from that!). My daughter got the country green beans with her meal. They were also excellent. It is also worth getting the local French dressing for your salad. There was a singer/guitarist — tHe husband of one of the waitresses. He was a really good accompaniment to the«home cooking» atmosphere. Good guitarist and a good voice who played a broad medley. Well worth a visit!

Way to expensive for the experience! Steak was good, had better. Décor too old. Served salad with cold roll. Won’t be back. Wondered about it when we drove up, and only two vehicles in the parking lot.

Great food, the smoked meats are very good. The ambiance is classic Nebraska, friendly and no frills. Very plain interior but who eats the interior? Sides are ok, nothing special, but main courses are great. Menu is too big and confusing, but again am not eating the menu. The spiritual successor to the old Dresbach’s, a Nebraska classic. This is a classic Nebraska steakhouse and gave me fond memories of visits to my relatives in Nebraska and of a simpler and nicer time. Bravo!

Spinach salad had fresh spinach, crumbled cheese and fresh cooked bacon. Gorgonzola bleu cheese dressing had huge croûton sized chunks of cheese, delicious to a bleu cheese lover! The atmosphere feels like a local joint, waitressing were jokey and friendly with their regulars. Crispy Fried chicken gets 5 stars! Amazingly, I think this is THE best fried chicken I have EVER had! The breading was the perfect thickness, so crunchy and satisfying to bite into. The inner chicken was perfectly moist, juicy and tender. Tore it apart and ate it while licking my fingers! Seriously, I demolished this meal. The BF ordered a flat iron 9oz steak with fresh horseradish. Both baked potatoes were slightly undercooked, not raw, just hard to get into. Got here at 8pm, entrée was served at 8:25! Our server was pleasant and friendly, kept our drinks filled and checked in to make sure we were happy.

Definitely worth the 6 mile drive off of I80. Love that NE beef. Great local feel; like an old school supper club. Not too fancy, but appropriate. Friendly service and terrifically cooked beef! We hit in during a x-country trip IL to CO and look forward to returning the next time we’re blasting through the plains.

The building really needs to be remodeled on the inside. I felt like I sat down in a late 70’s restaurant to eat. The food prices were really high for the«style» of the business. I had the chicken parm which had good flavor, but the sauce was really runny. The service was ok, but the glasses, silverware, and furniture all need updating. Bring a big wallet for a nice dinner!

Had cedar plank salmon and mashed potatoes with a beer. Service was fine, food was satisfactory. Ambiance was lacking & we were there for an early dinner, so it was very quiet. Meh. It’s a steakhouse in Nebraska, so it’s hard to go wrong if you order beef. I was underwhelmed.

Nebraska beef rocks! I had a big ol ‘porterhouse with garlic mashed. Vegetables were not overcooked(as is the usual midwest tradition). Spinach salad came with the typically sweet dressing, I should have asked. Some people like sugar on their salad, not me. Keep those mandarin oranges and apple bits out of there too, please. Raisins? Dried cranberries? Excuse me? Great wine selection here too, I got a bottle of ’03 Rombauer cab. I didn’t finish it, so they bagged it for me to go. Kind of pricey for the working stiff. The décor should reflect this, instead the ambience is very blue collar. Not that I care. Nice people here. I got to meet Ed at the end of the night, we kinda crashed in just before closing and he was nice enough to come out and say hi. He really knows his stuff, I think he went to school. I got some good tips for my home BBQ. Rough travel day… Utah to Las vegas to Omaha to here… 10 hours. Uncle Ed’s was a happy ending.
