Sad to say the Comet has lost me as a customer. After being treated poorly time and time again by the bartending staff(not to mention under pouring shots in their drinks) I’m happy to move on to friendlier establishments. Too bad, we enjoyed many fun years together. Adiós, Comet!

Went here recently with an old friend to catch up. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The bartenders were friendly and helpful and the food was tasty. I lucked up and found parking right outside the door despite the fact that I was there on a Friday night.

Good small bar with decent but not amazing food. The specials are the best bet for food. I was not crazy about the burgers but the meatloaf was really above average and large portions. The service and drinks have always been good for my visits.

I dined here twice at the bar during happy hour. The bartenders are courteous and engaging. I get the wings and mussels in white sauce. They are good. The soup is tasty. The drink prices are reasonable. The parking is a little hectic as they don’t have a lot. You can park in the municipal lot or at a meter. Enjoy.

Been here a handful of times. It’s a nice little bar with a good beer selection and good food.

I seriously made a Unilocal account just to write a review about this awesome little joint. I got out of work yesterday at about 1030 and was craving a glass of wine. With no liquor stores open, I suggested to my husband about swinging by the Blue Comet(aka the only bar that was close to us and open at this time). Having lived around the corner from it now for almost a year, we walked there and finally decided to check it out. Okay– I was expecting a dingy little dive bar but I walked into a whole different world. It was set up like an old-school, super classy diner! High top stools, antique cash registers, a black-and-white television station on, the whole 9 yards. My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised. We took a seat at the bar where there were two very sweet gentlemen bartenders. They both chatted us up at different times, informing us about the history of the place, the menu, and any other information we needed. They were both very knowledgeable and kind. I ended up with a glass of Malbec and my husband a margarita. My wine came in this mini, adorable goblet and the margarita had an orangey-taste which was delicious. Next, my husband wanted tequila on the rocks and was looking at 1800. The bartender suggested a different kind, let him know of the price difference and let us check out the bottle. It ended up being a great suggestion. We ordered some sandwiches after a little, knowing that entrees and specials stopped at 1000, thanks to one of the bartenders. In my opinion, it’s important to share this kind of information so you don’t order something then get disappointed when it cannot be made. I ended up with the tuna melt on marble rye and my husband, a bacon-blue burger. I wish I took pictures but the burger was HUGE and delicious and my tuna melt had tomato and the bread was perfectly crunchy. Overall, just wow. The atmosphere of this restaurant was so welcoming and cute and felt like you were stepping into a different decade. Awesome food, drinks, people, and place overall. We WILL be back, that’s for sure!

My husband and I recently moved to the area from Center City, and were looking for a «cool» place to hang out, go to dinner, etc. On a Thursday we made a plan to meet at the Blue Comet for an early(very early) dinner– around 5:30pm. We brought our 9 month old son with us and were both looking forward to a night out. As soon as we walked in the door, a woman rushed toward us from the back of the restaurant. I thought she was rushing over to greet us and find us a spot to sit down(several empty booths at 5:30pm, mind you). We were shocked when she practically pushed us backward out the door saying, «We’re not set up for kids,» and directing us toward the Glenside Pub down the street which she said was more«family friendly.» Wow. I totally understand that kids don’t belong everywhere. But at place that serves food, and at 5:30pm? Okay, so maybe you’re not a kid friendly place. You could at least be friendly to us while asking us to leave. Maybe, an «I’m sorry, this really just isn’t a place for families.» Maybe smile? Maybe be a little warm or friendly instead of so rude? We don’t always go out with our little guy, but I’m certain that when we do go out for a date night without him, we won’t be going to the Blue Comet, nor will we be recommending the place to our friends. Nothing like this has happened since we became parents and it left us both with a very bad taste in our mouths.

I must have driven past this place a million times and had absolutely no idea that an old bar had been converted into a speak easy themed bar/resturant with great service and food! The highlight by far was the bacon peanut butter burger — I know, it sounds questionable, but you have to try it. All of the staff were well mannered and well dressed with a huge smile on their face. I reserve one star as the beer selection was good — but if I had to pick one thing for improvement… the drafts on tap could be better as this area is very competitive for craft beers. We had a great time and will be back.

My first time was excellent! Rebecca was great guiding us through the food menu and our Martini she made was great too. We also had the chance to meet one of the owners too, he was nice. We ordered wings and fish and chips, something basic but it was very good! The thing I like most about Blue Comet is the classical movies they show. Such a warm and inviting atmosphere. We are definitely gonna visit again.

AMAZING Mussels, plump, juicy, incredible sauce. Two very good bartenders who are attentive, polite, and accommodating. Keep up the good work. Best service in Montgomery County. Most of the others in the northern burbs are amateur clowns half –assing their jobs and not knowledgeable of the product. Not all, but a vast proportion.

Stopped here for lunch on the way home, used Unilocal to find a place to eat. And WOW what a great choice !!! Food was all fresh made, well prepared and served perfectly — and the bloody mary’s — do not miss them !!! The décor of this place is pretty cool also — just what you would see in a place called the Blue Comet in the the 1970’s

Great atmosphere, old school drinks and décor. Prices are decent for food & drinks. Staff is very friendly and well dressed. One of our favorites bars in the area for sure. Summer and spring they have outdoor seating in their New Orleans style courtyard. Meatloaf, steaks, great Calamari, BBQ Chicken platters. Really have everything from a quick bite and a drink, to a full scale meal with family and friends. Parking can be tricky on weekends but it is on Easton Road so several side streets offer parking. City bar with neighborhood prices and staff.

We decided to try this place after reading marvelous reviews on Unilocal.Ordered a peanut butter medium rare burger, steak sandwich, a Coke and a beer. Prices are rather high for what they’re serving– my burger was dry, the patty was tasteless and didn’t seem fresh. I was expecting something more from the burger everybody was raving about, unfortunately the peanut butter sauce was overpowering and you couldn’t taste anything else on the bun. As far as the beverages go — they were both flat not sure why. The only 4 star meal was the steak sandwich — no complaints there it was fresh and good. My boyfriend and I were confused as to what this place is supposed to be … It looks like a bar, the quality of the food is very bar-like but some entrees on their menu go as high as $ 30! Not planning on coming back

This is my go to any day! My husband and I frequent here on Sunday’s between errands and chores for a Bloody Mary and a Lagunitas. Food is great, French onion and steak tenderloin sandwich are amazing! Liz is extremely knowledgable of crafting cocktails and can whip anything up. Fresh fruit juices are pressed for cocktails, which amps up quality and taste. The atmosphere is calm and does not quell drunk frat boys, which is a huge draw. The outdoor seating area is great in the warm weather as well.

Speakeasy plays on its impeccable strengths of some fine cocktails, tastefully themed interiors and good food, and does quite well on the whole. Very cool vibe inside. Music appropriate for the era. TV showing old B&W movies. Bartender appropriately dressed and the men wear ties and aprons. Some of the drinks I have tried here are: — Moscow Mule– made with fresh ginger — French Gimlet — Sidecar — Hemingway Daiquiri — Manhattan — Old-Fashioned — Dark N’ Stormy All fruit juices are freshly squeezed for each order. Expertly crafted drinks with knowledgable bartenders that are true artists. Liz, is just fantastic. Very often I go in and ask her for a Vodka(or another base liquor) drink as the base and she concocts a delicious drink. Every. Time. Clientele is all over the map. Young. Old. Local. Blue and White Collar. Very friendly spot.

I live very close to Blue Comet but never tried it. Can’t believe all this time I didn’t realize what I was missing. My family and I visited here a few nights ago. I absolutely love the style of the décor. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. Great beer selection. I was very impressed with the menu. Much better than the usual local pub food. My son really enjoyed his linguine and clams. My daughter and I shared the french onion soup. We were very impressed by the rich flavor. Perfect. We also tried the burgers. We were all very pleased. We can’t wait for the next visit.

A friendly neighborhood bar where the hipsters, locals, and college kids never seem out of place. The specials, usually seafood, always seem to be a hit. The sides that come with the specials could use a little imagination, as they’re always rice or mashed potatoes. Service is usually well paced even when busy, and always friendly. I’d give this 5 stars if the beer list was a little more extensive and they had more space for table seating in the winter. I’ll be back whenever I need a few drinks within walking distance or an impromptu night out.

Unilocalers come through once again: Blue Comet is a «GREAT Unilocal find,» to quote Unilocaler Michael N. BC is a fairly small place with perhaps a dozen tables and a very long bar. Most of the tables are booths, which adds to the cozy feeling of the place. The walls are adorned with vintage prints and concert bills, as well as vintage service-ware. I had mussels red, and they were fresh and oh-so-tender(melted in the mouth) in a vibrant, herbaceous pool of marinara. The sauce begged to be sopped up with crusty bread, which our lovely waitperson spontaneously delivered. Just a side-note about the service: It was outstanding. My mussel shell discard bowl was emptied three times(well before any precarious stacking) by three different waitstaff. The staff works as a team, and whomever spots a need just addresses it. Fabulous, old-economy service. Mr. M had the roasted pepper and provolone burger and so enjoyed it that silence fell over the table. On Unilocalers’ recommendations, we shared an order of mighty delicious onion rings. The crust was crisp and the onion was sweet. BC is a keeper(although we were sad to learn that the live music has been suspended), and we look forward to many return visits.
