****CLOSED**** It’s the end of an era for sushi in Glendora. David’s moved to Seattle. :(

I love his sushi! Yes, it takes time so don’t expect food to come out quickly but it worth the wait. I had lunch to go and I think the lunch special is a fantastic deal! Wish my office is closer, I’d eat here very week! For me this is the best sushi place around here. Highly recommended.

I really don’t want to do this but… I came here again with my boyfriend around an hour(5:45pm) after they opened, it was a Sunday and the bar was packed so we got a table nearest to the door.(avoid sitting here since its almost right in front of the door and its incredibly uncomfortable to feel the draft on your back the whole time.) The waitress brought out menus and asked what we wanted to drink, the usual. After 10 minutes she came back and took our order which was 2 rolls. It took about an hour to get two rolls. Don’t get me wrong, the rolls here are delicious and they are probably the best I’ve tasted and elegantly prepared, but to wait an hour just to finish our rolls in about less then 5 minutes? I don’t think it is worth it. My boyfriend wanted to leave and get something a lot quicker but we felt like we would be rude. I know there’s only one main chef but how about hiring some helpers? I love the food but the service makes this place not worth coming to unless you are a regular. I guess the hunt for a main sushi place still continues :(

Omg what an improvement in service! The waitress was excellent! She greeted us, got us water and menus immediately. She took our order and immediately got us soup! After placing our order our food came out immediately. What a huge improvement from the previous waitress who was on Mexico time.

We get to eat out A LOT. Sushi is probably the #1 pick for the family. That being said, the food here is FANTASTIC. But… you must be willing to wait. The service is always slow. If you are in a hurry, go somewhere else. We visit this place about twice a month. They have locals that are there more regularly. if the service was better we would go more often. The service isn’t all related to the time it takes to get a drink order, get drinks delivered, get sugar, or get a food order taken. I would give five stars if it didn’t take so long to get food made/delivered. My observation is that if we bought a beer or sake shot for the sushi chef that we might get our food order quicker. I have to reiterate that the food is wonderful; freshness, flavor and fusion are what make this place work. I’ll be back every other week or so. I guess in a way it’s okay that the service is so slow because we can always get a table without waiting.

Horrible service by the chef. The menu listed lunch specials that were very confusing and misleading. The chef was an ass.

Brian’s review below was almost exactly what I experienced eating here. The food is good, quite good actually. The service completely makes it not worth eating at however. Dinner was an hour and a half for 3 items(all raw, one roll). We actually came at an excellent time when there was hardly any other customers(one or two tables that already had food). To add insult to injury, the waiter even said as he brought the bill«here you go because I heard you are in a rush». Such words were never uttered and I would say the look never even crossed my face. However, the service was horrible and if I had been in a rush I would have gotten up and left. Not worth the wait and if there are any other tables occupied, move along down the street to Tokyo Bay where you will receive good sushi in a timely manner.

Very disappointing. Food portions are small and very pricey. The service was lousy. There was only one server and he spent time talking to regulars most of the time made us feel unwelcome. We’re definitely not going back there.

Wow, what can I say, the sushi here is fantastic! Everything is so fresh and delicious, and you can really tell they put a lot of effort into the food. I absolutely love the spicy tuna rice nuggets(forgot the real name of it), as well as their green tea tempura ice cream. It’s such a tiny place, but most of the hole-in-the-wall joints I’ve been to have the best food. The service is great as well. 5 stars!

I’m a Miyako’s regular, but my friend recommended this place so I brought my mom along to try it out. She said it was way better than Miyako’s so i had really high hopes. We tried it out on a Sunday night around 7, and there was only one other party in there. we ordered: baked baby lobster roll Salmon and scallop roll hamachi green onion hand roll The sushi was very meh. the Salmon roll was very disappointing(salmon sashimi is my favorite). It just didnt have much flavor and the salmon was surprisingly bland, and the scallops didnt go well with it. The lobster roll was too creamy, and didnt have good flavor, and the hamachi hand roll had a very over powering pickled taste. I have to admit that I didnt order anything my friend recommended, so hey, maybe they are capable of better. I will definitely be staying true to Miyako’s though, not planning on coming back.

I’ve tried a lot of different sushi restaurants and this is the BEST one I have EVER been too! I came here on the recommendation from a friend of mine(a yoga instructor) and came here with a couple of friends. There were eight of us so I had called in to let them know that we have a big party coming in. And they were prepared! The table was set up to fit all of us and even though service was on the slower end, it was noticeable why it was slow. There is only one guy working on the raw fish and I’m not quite sure how many cooks they have back there, but it isn’t enough. Even though it isn’t enough, the food that came out of that kitchen was AMAZING. And it fills you up pretty good. I want to come back here again and eat. All I know is that if I’m ever craving sushi, I am coming back here!

So I got some hate mail for my review, even though it was the honest recount of the experience. Believe me, I wouldn’t ever turn away from a good sushi joint. I bet this guy works there or knows the owner. Figured I’d post it for everyone to read, as this is the attitude you may find there: Christian M. — «If your just going to complain just stay home and eat alone don’t give bad review to good restaurants dosent surprise me since your aparently love pizza Wow what a responce I can’t believe you have such words in your vocabulary really don’t care what you got to say anyways so I will eating and ejoying me fusion sushi food and think what a lame coment you wrote as I eat my sushiin total laughter tow hours really not even on a busy day has he ever took so long» My original post: The food is good, but the service is horrible. Took 2 hours and we still didn’t get our order filled for a party of 5. It wasn’t even busy, there were 2 other groups. When we told the chef and server that we just wanted to go and get the bill they looked at us like we had rocks in our head and were making faces behind the counter. A similar thing happened a month ago and we figured it was just a fluke. Now we know its not and will never be back again. Avoid this place if its not on off hours.

Went on a Tuesday afternoon around 5:30PM. First party there, and nobody else came in during the stay. Sat at the bar to get the usual sushi experience. Chef didn’t talk besides the usual greeting and when I asked what he was putting on the sushi. Complimentary miso soup was the highlight of the meal. Spicy tuna roll was nothing special, the«rock & roll» followed with a subtle taste of avocado masked by shrimp tempura. Yellow tail sushi was tough and chewy. Gyoza was edible, but oily and stuffed with mostly vegetables. Chef sneezed down at the floor a few times and did not sanitize. Meals came out well spaced, but there were no other tables.

Located in a nondescript strip mall. We eat at Fusion on a regular basis and it never disappoints. We usually have omakase, David(owner/chef) will prepare several dishes according to what is available that particular day. I believe he makes his own dressings/sauces that he incorporates into his dishes/rolls, which are scrumptious. The menu contains several varieties of specialty rolls, tarts, & rice combos. You can also opt for just sushi/sashimi. Best time to go for dinner is on a weekday when it’s less crowded & you can sit and enjoy the fish at the sushi bar. Service can take long during peak hours/days since David is the only chef preparing the food. Closed on Mondays.

So, I’m finally doing a review on the one sushi place that I compare ALL sushi places to. I freakin’ LOVE313! Someone mentioned that the Chef, his name is David BTW, has no personality and blah blah blah. Dave is an AWSOME guy! Seriously! We don’t have the funds to come in too often, but when we can make it in, Dave always chats it up and asks us how we and our friends are doing. You’d think that with all the people he see’s and how seldom we can come in that he’d forget us. NOPE, he always leaves off on whatever we were talking about the last time we came in. No, he’s not one of those obnoxious chefs that have to make a loud announcement when you walk in and leave and he’s not going to sit there and have drinks with you… though if you buy him a drink he will take a swig =)) Dave is NOT there to entertain you, he is there to make you outstanding food. He’s a quiet but sweet guy. Okay, enough about Dave…(I love you Dave).seriously…I’ll move on now… The food here is great, my favorite is the Open Face 5. The sushi is fresh and Dave has a way of mixing, or should I say. creating a fusion of flavors like nothing I’ve tasted. Down side, yes, the service can be slow, but that’s coz Dave is the only sushi chef, there are helpers in the back, but he handles and crafts all the sushi ordered.

I just went to this place for the first time yesterday along with my boyfriend. Don’t let the exterior looks fool you, because food is actually good! We ordered Heart Attack, Baked Salmon Roll, and Baked Dynamite! Here, it can be pricey if you order more than three different dishes of sushi, but they can be pretty good! The place is really small, so I don’t recommend for a huge group. If you come with a huge group, I would recommend coming once the place opens, not few hours after it opens. My favorite one out of three is, of course, the HEARTATTACK! I will come back here again for sure(:

PLEASEDONOTBUYGIFTCERTIFICATEFORTHISRESTAURANTFROM . I REPEATPLEASEDONOTBUYGIFTCERTIFICATEFORTHISRESTAURANTFROM !!! They should notify if they don’t do business with them again!!! Alright, now let the review begin: I gave the 4 stars for the food, but with the service and overall experience, I lowered it down to 2.75. Why? because with that type of food and great service you can find it anywhere else. The chef never welcome us. He’s way too focused doing what his doing best. It took a while for our food to come, but I gotta admit that the foods are very delish, except the miso soup. It was very bland, not tasty at all. Their Hakutsuru sake is way too EXPENSIVE. You can get at other places or supermarket for around $ 8-$ 10 and they charged $ 19!!! Unbelievable, what a ripped off!!! ;( All and all, I kinda iffy about this place, not sure if I want to go back.

Best sushi this side of Matsuhisa… … just get over the fact that it’s in a random strip mall and get ready to fall in love. My fiancé’ and I are avid sushi lovers and have been to just about every spot this side of LA. The first time we went to Fusion we were literally looking for a quick Cali roll and noticed this tiny shop off Grand Ave in a random strip mall. Thinking it was going to be the traditional sushi-joint, we decided to give it a try… We’ve been at least 20 times since in just the past year. David(the sushi chef there) doesn’t talk much, but what he lacks in chattiness, he more than makes up for it with a unique vision for sushi that you simply won’t find anywhere within 30 miles of his shop. Hit this place up if you are looking for sushi that ventures away from the ordinary«cali rolls» and«spicy tuna» rolls… The chef hand-purchases his sushi daily at the LA fish market and drives it back to Glendora. It’s gotta be the freshest fish we’ve ever had short of eating on a boat. Recommendations: The«313» roll is spectacular. Nothing short of excuisite. The Baked Baby Loster roll is amazing. The Open face rolls are killer. I like the Tuna/Scallop/Albacore one. The Tarts are great — the Rainbow tart is my fav so far. Heart Attack roll — fun, well executed. The Thai Shrimp Roll — it’s like dessert, but better. We’ve yet to have a single«meh» item here though… the closest to a mediocre item has been the special spicy tuna roll, which still exceed what we’re used to at other spots. Oh — and yes, it is a little pricey if you are expecting cheap sushi(which we were the first time) — $ 9 a roll is the average… that said, the rolls could easily be served for $ 40 a piece at a swanky Las Vegas restaurant, so it’s all relative. I’d easily pay $ 20 a roll for the kind of quality and flavor that David delivers consistently. Finally, you will wait for your food a lot longer than at a chain sushi restaurant. We happen to be okay with that, but it helps to have your expectations set before you go in so you don’t get disappointed if he’s slammed with orders. We’ve seen people huff and puff in disgust over having to wait their turn, but I assure you that it’s well worth the wait. One final note — it’s important to mention that 95% of the items on the menu simply don’t exist in other sushi restaurants. Sure, Fusion will sell you a California Roll… but it’s kind of like going to a 4 star restaurant and ordering a cheeseburger. It’ll be good, but you’re better off ordering the items that the chef has taken the time, love and care to invent.

I was pleasantly surprised by this tiny, obscure place in a run down strip mall next to a gun shop. When I go to a sushi place, Sashimi salad and cucumber wraps are my standard. We were the only ones there on a Tuesday about 6pm. But that does not deter me. My sashimi salad was beautiful. At first I thought there might not be many greens, but underneat that pile of lovely, glistening, pink fish, there seemed to be an unending amount of lovely mixed greens and baby lettuces. No iceberg HERE and that is ALWAYS a PLUS in my buck. Or an extra star on Unilocal. My cucumber wrap was beautifully done with a rainbow of fish tucked nicely in the cucumber wrap. No shredded fake crap in it as I often get in my cucumber wraps. I tried the Salmon Tataki also. Beautifully presented with garlic chips and fried olives. It sits in a pond of olive oil and balsamic like in an Italian Restaurant and one toast of sour dough baguette comes with it. I would definitely ask for more sourdough toast to soak up the rest of that gorgeous EVOO and Balsamic. I couldn’t stand watching that go to waste. My dining companion, who shall remain nameless, does not like sushi. I know, I know. She got some typical teriyaki and tempura dish. It looked typical. I really liked some of the innovative and fusion type things on the menu with a Spanish or Mediterranean twist. So I will be back to try them.
