Sherry Yeung and Sherry Silva have been cutting my hair for at least 3 years now. Was super bummed when they moved out of their Little Tokyo location, but just got a cut in their temporary Glendale space and it was great. They just understand my hair texture(Asian, natural curls) which no other stylists have mastered. Looking forward to their new studio!

Love the folks at Artform Studios. Sherry gave me cut & color and I love it! She is a great hair artist and an awesome person all around. She’s very down to earth and super easy to communicate with. They are waiting for their new salon in Highland Park but until then you can find them in Glendale at their temporary studio. Can’t wait for them to move closer to home. Thank you Sherry! You rock!

I absolutely love this place!!! It’s a hair shop and record store. Love the concept, vibe and people. Genius idea Great place to bring my son who gets his fresh cuts from barber Extraordinary Larry G, who has been cutting his hair since 1 years old. Sherry is the bomb too, she’s hooked me up and I’ve gotten exactly what I’ve wanted. They also throw events whether it be for the kiddos, hip hop for the babes. Or dope artists in the music biz. Not enff good I can say about this place. Looking forward to my next visit.

My family & I love coming here! Every stylist takes their time perfecting their art, whether it’s hair, make up or shave. Some people have complained about having to wait past their appointment time or the procedure(s) taking too long, but once you’re in the chair, you know and understand that it’s worth the wait because of how diligent they are. The retail side has an amazing selection of vinyl, books, indie crafts and jewelry so it’s hard not to leave without buying something additional. Thanks Sherry & team for a great experience every time we come in!

Sherry is amazing! I Unilocaled a place close to my house and The Artform popped up!(Get it) I called and in she was willing to accommodate me within the hour. I’m a blow dry junkie and believe me when I say Sherry is top notch! She was fast efficient and my hair looked amazing! That was yesterday and my curls are still standing like I just left the salon. Take into account that my hair is long, curly, it takes some serious talent to manage it. Too bad they are moving soon, but I will follow her anywhere :)

The person I saw spent three hours cutting/styling my hair and my hair is already short,(above my shoulders). I didn’t mind because I didn’t have anything planned that evening. She did a perfect job. I get compliments all the time. My husband was waiting for me and he didn’t mind either because he was enjoying the music and books! Great spot and I can’t wait to find out where they are moving so that I can book my next appointment.

Came on a spur of the moment want to chop some inches off my hair. Literally Unilocaled a place close to my house and this came up. Stacy was super sweet and didn’t pressure me to do anything drastic and listened to how many inches I was willing to chop(one time, somewhere else of course, I asked for 3 inches and the person cut 7, no joke *cries*). The owner was so sweet and I loooveddd how I got to listen to records while in the chair. Such a cute shop! Will be back the next time I have a hair cut urge.

I absolutely love this place! I walked in here the other day wanting to get my hair done with my sister. At first we weren’t sure if this was a hair salon for women since it’s also a record store(really cool!!) but I’m very happy we came in. The owner, Sherry, did our hair. We both decided to do a bayalage. It was our first time ever dying our hair or doing anything to our hair! We were hair virgins! She was so sweet and so patient with us! She really took her time cutting our hair, dying it and styling it! She also stayed open late for us since we work until 6pm and we stayed there until 9pm! I definitely plan on coming here again and getting my hair done with Sherry!

My boyfriend has been coming here for years, so he booked a first appointment for me with Sherry(the owner). All of the other stellar reviews of Sherry are right on target. She did an absolutely amazing job transforming my hair from boob-length to a short, asymmetrical bob. I showed her a picture and she cut it exactly like the picture, and was so speedy at it! I love it and have received countless compliments already. Even though it was my first time getting a cut with Sherry, talking to her felt like talking to an old friend. She is so warm and friendly and I will definitely be coming back to her. One other thing I have to mention was how well she cut my straight-across bangs. It’s a very rare thing when someone can cut my bangs correctly(I have extremely blunt, straight asian hair and most of the time people cut it unevenly or too short and then it sticks out and hovers above my forehead). Sherry cut them to perfection! Selection of records and jewelry there is awesome as well!

Came in here 5⁄26 to look for some hip hop vinyls for a birthday present. I called Amoeba asking if they had a vinyl I was looking for, the representative said they didn’t but referred me here. It’s a quaint record store with a salon in the back. Definitely never seen something like this before, but there is definitely nothing wrong with this concept haha. There were a bunch of bins to scour through, covering many genres. The hip hop vinyls in particular covered a lot of 90s artists, new & used copies. Since those were the only bins I looked through, you can expect to find a lot of Common, Tribe, Mobb Deep, De la Soul, Nas, etc. Some of the newer artists included J. Cole, Logic, Big Krit, School Boy Q, etc. I haven’t adventures much into the Arts District, but this is a place I would love to come back to if I’m ever around.

Im very disappointed with this place. I called 2 weeks in advance to make an appointment for hair and makeup for both my mom and myself. The girl took down my information and even said that in order for me to be finished on time I had to come in at 11 am. Then I called 1 week after to confirm and they said I was set to go. The day of my event I showed up at 10:50 since my appointment was at 11 a. m but the place was closed. so I waited until around about 11:30 a. m and the lady who picked up the phone sounded like she was asleep and said sorry your not in our book. That was it didn’t even bother to try and accommodate or anything. Despite the comments that people made about her always accommodating clients. I am someone who strongly believes in responsibility and to me this was very irresponsible. How can they have employees who are not organized enough to write down appointments appropriately. Not to mention they are not even open on time

Sherry is the best!!! I came in without an appointment and a rush and yet, Sherry got my hair done in 10 mins. I had a performance to go to so i told her it was okay if she didn’t have time. She did a marvelous job on getting my hair away from my face and keeping it together with hairspray and bobby pins. im never going to a different hair stylist/salon again. :)

Sherry Younge is amazing stylist. She really listened to what I wanted and combined it with her years of experience and artistry to give me a fabulous haircut and color. I truly appreciated her using my natural hair(i have gray/white highlights) and showcasing them in a such a sophisticated and innovative way. #embraceyourself I also really liked the products she used on my hair. They have unique hand crafted and vintage jewelry. The studio has a great ambience and Sherry’s energy is infectious.

My man Larry will give you one of the best fades you’ll ever have. He takes his time and will listen to what you what you want. Show him a picture and he’ll duplicate it. Always good music playing.

I adored my haircut with Larry Galindo. He spent over an hour giving me a fade, part, and quiff and did an immaculate job — taking his time with each progressive razor length. It was so precisely graduated that the sides of my head looked like an ombré pattern. Even six weeks later I’m still happy enough to delay my regular cut. His rates are very reasonable and I felt lucky that he wasn’t completely booked up! I had spent the afternoon at Stumptown in the Arts District and had the impulse to get my hair cut, as I sometimes do when I’m visiting someplace new. This place was the only one I could find in the Arts District itself, which was great because I didn’t want to schlep back to Broadway or Spring.

Sherri is the best! I’m super picky with my hair and she did an amazing job cutting and styling it. It is clear she’s an expert, loves what she’s doing, and takes her time to provide a perfect cut. Her hands are amazing, both cutting and washing my hair, it felt great and no hair pulling! 100% recommended! The salon is also very cool, all industrial and with vynils, collectibles and art everywhere.

Sherry is a top level hair artist. This shop is always showcasing art and craftsmanship. The music side run by Sherry’s husband is a smart collection of vinyl and music accoutrement. Rare and deep cuts found! Little Tokyo is a wonderful location for this hybrid of art and expression.

I really don’t know why it’s taken me so long to write this review because I have been a client of Sherry’s for as long as I can remember, way before the Artform Studio even existed. Over the years her talent has only gotten better and better. I honestly trust her to do anything with my hair — and she has done just that. From short to long, black to blonde, highlights, ombré, formal up-dos, funky up-dos, and more… you name it, she’s done it on me! And time and time again, she impresses me with her talent. I recently got my hair cut, colored, and highlighted for the summer and have received so many compliments. When I started planning my wedding, there was no question she would be my hair stylist. I could go on and on, but you should really check out her salon/record shop for yourself!

I was visiting L.A. for a masquerade ball and decided(at the very last minute) that my mediocre skills with hair were not going to do the trick. After scouring Unilocal I gave The Artform Studio a call and they graciously provided me with an appointment. I shouldn’t have been concerned about the updo wilting before the event. Not only did it exceed my expectations style-wise, it did not budge until I undid the bobby pins and pulled it down myself the next morning. How they managed to make it look effortless while also being completely indestructible is beyond me. Both stylists were incredibly personable(sweet, funny, relaxed) and I definitely felt as though they went above and beyond to accommodate my vision.

The Artform Studio is not your ordinary hair salon, nor is it your ordinary record shop. It’s a place where you could come in to get a fresh hair cut and walk out with that gold record that you could enjoy for the rest of the evening. It is the product of a married couple who blended the two things that they love the best, other than each other: music and cosmetology. A marriage between«art forms». The Artform Studio is located where Little Tokyo meets the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles on 3rd Street and Alameda. It is where owner, Sherry Younge cuts hair and styles her clients with a smile, putting them to ease while she transforms their look. You have the opportunity to have her put her magic hands on your head or peruse patiently through her husband’s, Adrian Younge’s vinyl collection. This is the first room that you enter when you walk through the doors of The Artform Studio. The next time you’re in Downtown LA and are thinking of a great way to impress that special someone, you have two ways to do it through the Artform Studio. Brighten your face with that great new haircut/style or come home with a record to set the tone for the evening. Either way, I’m sure she/he won’t be disappointed.
