This was the first time I’ve ever been to this restaurant and was very pleased with the food. They greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and were very helpful helping me pick out my food. It was a little pricey, but make sure you check the specials because that will save you some money.

I prefer Dickey’s to other BBQ chains in town when I’m going for something quick. The atmosphere here is great. I am greeted at the door and the staff makes their rounds to check on you as they are cleaning up tables. I can take a breather from my crazy schedule when I come here!

This is my favorite BBQ place. Service is always good and the food is top notch. I highly recommend the chopped brisket sandwich and the pulled pork. Awesome place !

I finally got a chance to go this BBQ place I’ve always wanted to try. Unfortunately, it turned out to be my first and last time, not so much because of the food, but because of the attitude of a staff member. I wouldn’t think that me stating my name, and the fact that it was a call in take out order, would warrant being yelled at about a supposed flood of orders as if I had complained about being late in the first place. One young lady there was very helpful though. She rang me up and was great! As I was leaving, the other staff member apologized for«the wait» that I never complained about. No problem, right? I do understand the stresses of work and in particular service, but there should be no room for being argumentative with the customer. It’s too bad because the food is not bad, but I can do without feeling like my patronage is not desired there.

I have eaten at this location several times and the S. Richmond location once. Tonight I went to the W. End location at 8:55PM. Closing time is 9:00PM and I was alone. After tasting a sample of the spicy cheddar sausage, I notified the employee that it was warm but cool in the center of the meat. He said that he would take care of it and I placed my order. After paying, I noticed that my order was packaged to go. No big deal, I had intended to eat there, yet no one asked, so I went to a table and began eating. A lady that later identified herself as Stacy said«excuse me sir, we close at 9:00 and you can’t eat here.» I said that you mean to tell me that you don’t have work to do to close and clean the store while I consume my food? She said«OK, I will give you 10 minutes.» I continued the meal but at that point I had enough of the bad attitude. The spicy cheddar sausage was once again cool in the center and I requested a refund which was given. I have not experienced service this bad in quite some time and will be in touch with the corporate office Monday to let them know how customers are treated here. There is way too much good BBQ nearby to be treated like this.

Went here for lunch and were most unimpressed by everything. Three of us ordered the daily special and the only food item that was hot were our side dishes. My sister asked one of the staff why the pork barbecue was not hot and she told us it was. She looked at us like there was wrong with us for saying anything. Then when we went to get our free ice cream cone, there weren’t any cones and the guy couldn’t figure out how to get them out of the box and put then in the container. To top it all off, when he did get it figured out and we went to get the ice cream, there was only enough for one cone! We won’t be going back. Guess that may explain why the place was empty at noon.

My husband and I LOVE barbeque and Dickey’s Barbeque has become our go– to-place! My favorite is the pulled pork big sandwich. It’s loaded with moist meat, cooked just right. I always add the coleslaw topper. Pickles and onions are available if you wish. There are 3 different hot sauces for you to ladle up how much you want. I like the original with a little bit of spicy added. My husband always goes for the hot and spicy. He also usually goes for the ribs. I see them falling off the bone but he will have do the description and since he orders them so frequently, they must hit the spot just right! YUM! As for sides, I really enjoy the baked potato casserole which is full of flavor. Green beans are also nicely flavored. Mac and Cheese is very good as well. You get a great big yellow cup to fill and re-fill with tea or soft drink. Finish off your sumptuous feast with a free ice cream cone or cup. Refreshing. There are daily specials on a big chalkboard and for now, there’s a buy-one-get-one-free barbeque sandwich on certain days and hours. BARGAIN! Don’t know how long it lasts. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is barbeque fitting with red and white checked table cloths and a rustic feel. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!

Pretty darn good! As with any BBQ your going to spend about $ 10 per person and its worth it. I’m a Deep Run Roadhouse fan and I am still, but if you want to try something different in smoked meat, here ya go. Add some free ice cream and your batting a thousand. By all means give them shot. Great sauce from hot bar and you get a big a** drink to was it down.

One visit so far. PUHLEEZE do not bark at me, Buz’n’Ned’s fans. I love Buz too, but this place was right there, I was starving, and only had about 30 minutes. Brisket was tasty, could have been sliced thinner, not taking points away for that. Pulled pork was OK, desperately needed sauce. Which, luckily, they had. I’d vote for the hot & spicy, as their store version was pretty tame. Cole slaw and jalapeño beans were good adjuncts to the ‘cue. I’d go back. But I wouldn’t go past Buz’n’Ned’s to do so.

Lame. Average BBQ, very light ribs, terrible service. They even got rid of the pickle jar. Ordered medium sides($ 5.75 each) and the containers were ¾ full. Staff greeted us with«what do you want?» and immediate started another conversation with a coworker. After repeating it three times they finally got it. Fine place if you need your BBQ fix. Otherwise there are better places to spend your money.

I have eaten many times at the Forest Hill location… this one is just as good! It’s always clean and everyone is friendly. My favorite is the pork big barbecue sandwich and the baked potato casserole and mac and cheese. Coming from Texas this is like a taste of home.

I have been 3 times so far, and each time has been consistent. The service is friendly and prompt and the food is very tasty. The brisket and pulled pork are outstanding-no fatty chunks in it either. The different sauces are great too. Most of the reviews on here are from when they first opened. I guess they have corrected those problems, because I have had zero issues each time I have been and my son loves it because there is free soft-serve for dessert. I brought my wife and sister there the 3rd time and they loved it!

This establishment and the owner and general manager is the worst that i have ever dealt with in all my years of eating out! There food got me sick and weak! When I called to tell the manager and general manager and owner about what had happened they disputed me down as to say that I was lying! I have never been treated and disrepected in my life! I will never eat or patronize again and this was my familys first and last visit! They didnt even want to give me a refund back because I paid by cash they wanted to give me more food! I told them if it got me sick the first time eating there why would I want to get sick again! This is unacceptable and wrong !

I will never go back here again. After waiting 8min in line for them to finish the next plate of ribs, I ended up with something that looks like slop with some bones in my plate. I also got the fried okra and mac&cheese, there are 100% store bought. For the price you pay, I expected a lot better. Also do not plan on drinking just water as the give you a very small child’s cup and you will be getting up often for a refill. As for their famous BBQ sauce, it may have been good back in the day but for me it taste like regular BBQ sauce with a LOT of Maple syrup.

I want to do an «Update» on my Review as I want to be fair to the Dickey’s Restaurant and it’s owners’. I enjoy eating out and I enjoy giving Fair & Honest Reviews. I feel this is important as a Restaurant depends on it Customers to come into the restaurant because of it’s good food. Recently, I reported about the BBQ had a small bone in it and I bite into it. Also, I was looking at the photo in how they make their BBQ and my BBQ did not have the Pickle and Onions on it as it was shown. In addition, the beans which says Jalapenos were not spicy. Shortly after my posting the Owner wrote back asking me to give her some contact information so she could make contact with me… I was pleasantly happy to see this as it says a lot about the Management wanting to take care of any problems it may have… so I sent her my contact information. The other day, I received a Phone call from the Owner/Manager and her name was Lisa. She explained to me how they make sure the meat is always Bone Free because in a Shoulder, it usually is just the blade for the bone and it just pulls out. However, she said something could have broken off without them realizing it and because of this… she was very sorry. Personally, I thought this was extremely nice of her to say this. She told me how the beans come from the place where they make the beans, and of course the Jalapenos are put into the beans, however I could have asked for additional Jalapenos to be put onto the beans. Next time I will ask… The other thing I mentioned, and since this was my first time in the place… how a employee just walked past me without asking how was everything and how was I enjoying the meal… She too, felt this was an important issue and this is something which will start happening. As I explained to her… I do not care if I walk into a Fast Food Place or a 5 Star Restaurant… I want to feel appreciated for coming in and spending my hard earn dollar in the Restaurant. This is very important to me as well as a Customer. I want to feel WOWed regardless of what type of place it is. So, I am upping my STARs to Dickey’s as I feel they DO want to make this a Wonderful experience for you. As I mentioned, their BBQ is great and I loved the Sauce. She said also, the reason they didn’t put the pickle on the BBQ… They have had complaints in the past about the Pickle Juice getting into the BBQ. This makes since as I too felt, I too would not liked the taste of Pickle juice in my Smoked BBQ. She said you can ask for it on the«Side». So, Lisa… you have earned my respect, and a BIG thanks from me in addressing the problem(s) and taking the time to call me. I feel you DO want me to come back and because of this… I am looking forward in returning and most of all… enjoying you wonderful BBQ. So, if you see me hanging over the counter getting a smell of that wonderful Smoke flavor BBQ… Please say Hi lightly as I will be concentrating on my next great Dickey’s BBQ Sandwich… :-))

Two precursors to going here — 1. It’s new, 2. It’s barbecue… Nuff said. We were glad to see Chinese Express(which was neither) go away, it seemed the only restaurants that stuck around were the ones we weren’t fond of. Seems that Richmond is all of a sudden barbecue central, and that’s OK with me. I like places that do not chop their meat into confetti, and this place has good sized chunks of their meats. With this place opening, we seem to be in a renaissance of decent family barbecue places and I hope that the upswing in restaurants continues. Anyway, upon entering, we were verbally welcomed, and I liked the array of meats that were available, including turkey and sausage in addition to the usual beef and pork. I tried the beef brisket(Texas style chopped, you can also get it sliced) and it was good, but a bit dry for my liking. Luckily, the sauces were quite good and varied. They also serve them hot in vats, instead of cold in squeeze bottles(I liked that!). The pork was quite good and didn’t need sauce for moistness. Their sweet sauce is excellent with the pork. The sides include waffle fries, beans, macaroni and cheese, KFC-ish confetti slaw(good on the sandwich with the spicy sauce) and potato salad(more like mashed but I’ll try something else next time). The things that make this place different than other BBQ in the area is the availability of various other meats, the laid back atmosphere(I can do without the non-stop musical tribute to Texas, but when in Rome…) and the kid-friendly free soft serve after your meal. Usually, a place that gives out ice cream does so to hide the mediocrity of their food, but so far not so here. The staff was patient and attentive about my son’s allergies and made good suggestions when we got our food. It’s counter service, so no tipping thankfully. The signage welcoming guests also made sure we knew that kids eat free on Sundays. If it’s all day that’s a pretty good deal, so we’ll be sure to come back and try other meats and sides. I would have liked a little more attention paid to us after we received our food as they are new, but I can forgive(and give one less star) for that oversight. See you on Sunday!

They just opened today, and we decided to get our order to go(they were having a minor a.c. issue) my wife, my son and I all ordered the rib plate so that’s all we can really review(other than the excellent fried okra and above avg Cole slaw). The ribs were excellent, smokey, falling off the bone and very satisfying. Buz, Ned and Dave, you guys may want to start working on your ‘A’ games, these guys are for real(again, only talking ribs here but if the rest of their stuff is in this league, watch out)
