Excellent spots for fans of Criminal Minds, CSI, etc. This is a BIG, four-story museum with friendly staff and beautiful grounds. I visited on Halloween and the foliage surrounding the seminary was an attraction in itself. The incredibly gruesome museum was keeping with the spooky timing of our visit. I’d be kinda hesitant to bring young children here. The seminary served as a hospital and there are loads and loads of exhibits that focus on the carnage of the battle. Bloody mannequins lie in tortured poses. A slideshow(blessedly screened from young eyes) goes through slides of about 18 period photos of Union and confederate corpses. Many are bloated and swarming with flies. There are a few fairly graphic post mortem and pre mortem photos plainly visible on the third and first floor. The one of the soldier shot in the jaw is, frankly, disturbing. It bothered me. A lot. I know that war is hell. I reckon exhibits like this are necessary to honor the horrible sacrifice so many young people made to keep this county unified. That being said; I’d save this one for the older kiddos and adults with strong stomachs.

Sorry to burst these other 5 star voters bubbles, but I’m going to take it back down to reality. This Museum was disappointing with nothing remarkable after seeing a few others. The admission is $ 9 which is ok for what it offers. However. I was there to be where Gen Buford surveyed the battlefield. That privilege is going to cost you an additional $ 20 a piece! I paid because.well. I love history. So now it’s $ 29 per person. The guide took us up to the Cupola spewed his speech/facts so fast I felt he must of needed to be somewhere fast as we were the last tour of the day. The first guide since I’ve been in Gettysburg that I actually sensed wasn’t passionate about what they were doing. Really? $ 20 for that? I can see maybe another $ 10 for the Cupola but asking $ 20 is going too far. Overall I don’t feel the value is there in this one(nice way of saying rip off). It’s way to expensive to climb stairs for a good view as I had already did this a few times in the area and some were for free.

This place was cool. It was a different history lesson from a different view of the battle. It had some great information you don’t hear about otherwise. Please check this place out.

This has been out most favorite museum to visit. Our 9 and 12 yr old boys enjoyed the treasure hunt provided as well as the several«hands on learning» exhibits. This museum has 4 floors and 6 rooms on each floor. Full of interesting facts, maps, photographs, artifacts and life like exhibits. You will not be disappointed in taking a few hours to go through.

Interesting and fun! The museum focuses on the casualties of Gettysburg and how the Seminary was turned into a sanitarium. The museum also follows the 2 Ziegler children that lived in the seminary with their parents before and during the battle and how they too helped with the casualties. Spoiler alert: one of the Ziegler children helped carry amputated limbs, that were thrown out the window after surgery, away from the building. The museum has related ‘hands on’ activities in each of the exhibits for the kiddos to keep their attention.
