Stopped for some tacos on the way home from A Basin and was very disappointed. Not only was our waitress spacey and inattentive, but when the food came out, it tasted all wrong. The spices did NOT compliment the dishes and they were over priced for what they offer. Will not be returning

Good food, reasonable prices, not traditional mexican or texmex, be ready to try something new.

Good happy hour, good bar food and friendly service I had the taco salad with pork and my boyfriend had the burrito. The taco salad was awesome and loaded with veggies and meat. The burrito was huge! Be ready to take some home or to share. It was a little on the spicy side though. The décor was eclectic with wood paneling that my boyfriend noticed was from the Pine Beetle kill that has that blue tint in the wood. We sat a the bar and it was very comfy there. The bar appeared to be full service with two tvs for sports. Hikers came in periodically to dine and to share stories.

Just walked out of there a few minutes ago, full and happy. We are staying in Georgetown 3 nights and my plan was to hit a different joint for dinner every night, but I think that plan just got thrown out the window as I will be going back to this place work the remainder of my time here. I had the steak salad and my son had the carnitas tacos and we shared the«basic» nachos. There is nothing basic about those nachos. They take the effort to bake the chips in the oven and the toppings are all quality. Nice job owners of this place!

We stopped by last night on the way back from Georgetown… by we I mean four adults and five kids, a challenge for any restaurant. These days the usual prerequisite is kid friendly, it was and the staff was very accommodating. Lets start with the building itself, this is an old stone building(I would guess at least 100 years old) with a real frontier town feel… very cool! As to the food, the first thing I have to mention is that I tasted the hottest salsa I have ever had in my life«The Ghost»…whoa that was hot. Don’t touch your face or eyes after eating this and keep it away from the kids! Either way very impressive! I ordered the Killer Kilo, and found that it was a little dry, and that the flavor or lack thereof was partially due to the heat and spiciness of the dish. My wife had the enchilada and was also overwhelmed by the heat as well. The kids were happy with their cheese quesadillas and mac and cheese… as long as the kids are happy I’m happy. To sum it up, food was a little bland, dry and overwhelmingly spicy(even the guacamole was spicy). The overall heat was a little too much, and I do love spicy but I wish I could have tasted the food itself a little more. I do like this restaurant and would go back again even if just to test my mettle again«The Ghost»!

This is a if-you-want-your-money’s-worth review. I unfortunately ordered the shrimp tacos. Tacos were about ¼th filled. Tacos costed $ 14. Little brother’s burrito was huge. About 44th filled. Still expensive but at least he didn’t wind up paying $ 12 for almost nothing. My shrimp tacos barely even had any guacamole on it. I figured they would hook it up at least a little bit since I’m allergic to cheese and they didn’t have a substitute for it. I walked out feeling ripped off and unfulfilled. That’s about the worst feeling one can have walking out of a over priced restaurant.

The food is great(update: I’m not sure how I feel about the food now, as past few hours I spent in the bathroom). The drinks are ok. The service is not so much. We came right before the happy hour was finishing and ordered the margarita. They rung it up late, so we didn’t get a happy hour price and refused to change it. So much for courteous service, right? When our waitress was explaining our concern to the bartender, who was evidently in charge, she only laughed and looked at our table with disrespect. The burrito came half cold and cheese didn’t melt at all. And we noticed that locals were treated differently. It wasn’t our first time here, but will be the last. Just know, that if you are not local you are not welcomed. Update: On a top of what have been said, two hours after we left the restaurant my husband and I started experiencing sign and symptoms of a food poisoning.

Pretty good food. I’ve eaten here twice. I had the beef tacos the 1st time and they were better than the enchiladas I had the second time. Margaritas are good and only $ 6. Service at the bar was fast and friendly. The food has a lot of flavors and I’m not a fan of the beans and rice. The home made salsa and sauces are very fresh and well made.

Really good carnitas, lots of history in this place. I like to sit upstairs and look out over the restaurant but it does get hot up there. Good deals on margaritas as well.

We were in Georgetown on a spur of the moment trip to the mountains, and decided to find our old favorite, «The Red Ram.» Well, I’m here to tell you, it must have been a long time since our last trip to Georgetown because the Red Ram is no more. In its place, however, is this Lucha Colorado Cantina, and I think they have a winner. For one thing, they kept most of the ambience of the Red Ram, and just upgraded the menu. It may not be Mexican like you know, but I was very impressed with the variety, especially the variety of vegetarian options. They seem to «get» vegetarians at this place. Also, the food was remarkably fresh for a mountain town, and, at Happy Hour, the prices were incredibly inexpensive. Yes, they have an excellent Happy Hour with excellent deals. Another thing I liked was the different heat levels available on their salsa. They have one they rate at a «13» that was actually closer to what I like in a salsa. If you are accustomed to «hot,» try this one, but, if you are a tenderfoot, you’d better stay away. The hot one I had was made with Ghost chilies, Bhut Jalokia, and«Scorpion» chilies. It had a nice, smokey flavor, and the texture I like in a salsa. I had it on a vegetarian quesadilla, and it was good, but I think the food kind of tamed the sting. For me, it was tolerable, but I could feel the potential there. I think they toned it down for me because I am an old guy, and they just don’t think an old guy can take it. I assure you, I can take it, and I won’t have a heart attack, or sue for damage to my internal organs. Anyway, as I said before, we had a Vegetarian Quesadilla off the Happy Hour menu, and, at Happy Hour, it was only $ 3.00 or $ 4.00! We also had smothered french fries that were pretty good. Our food bill came to only $ 7.00, and we were pleased. I would, however, suggest ordering the smothered french fries with the smother on the side. The smother tends to make the fries soggy, and I don’t like that. As for the beers, they had quite a selection, and all were in the $ 3.00 to $ 4.50 range which I thought was very fair. They have both bottled, and draught. I had a draw of Pacifico that was perfectly light, and tasty. All in all, I enjoyed this place enough to say that I would definitely come back, and thinking about coming back here might be the draw to get me back to Georgetown even in the Winter. That’s actually saying something since I have to drive past Idaho Srpings to get to Georgetown, and there’s a lot I like about Idaho Springs. Please, take my recommendation, and try Lucha if you are in the area. Like, when you are coming back from skiing, and the highway backs up, just pull into Georgetown, stop at Lucha, and enjoy the atmosphere while the highway clears off. You won’t be disappointed.

Wow! We stumbled in after hiking Bierstadt and this place was exactly what we needed. Delicious food in a casual atmosphere with friendly service(and great beer list!). Highly recommend the standard beef tacos.

After a trip on the Georgetown Loop, we decided to stay in GT for some lunch. Off the suggestion of a shop keeper, we sought out Lucha for some Mexican Food. Being from AZ, we have not found what we believe to be Border style Mexican food. We were greeted by a smiley young woman. She immediately showed us to a table, in the corner under the loft. Our server was very nice. He offered us beverages, and returned with them promptly. We ordered some Queso fries. Had the Pork Green Chile on the side. DELISH! We ordered a Shrimp Burrito and the Shrimp Enchilada. From the more Gringo side of the menu, my daughter who adores Mac n Cheese, ordered the Nacho Mac. All were wonderful! The burrito and enchiladas were smothered in a white cheese sauce. The nacho Mac had lettuce around the edge of the bowl. My daughter stirred it all in before I got a photo! Now, my son the PB&J loving fool that he is, decided on the PBJBC Burger, I believe it’s called. That would be Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam on a Bacon Cheese burger! Now, I sampled his burger, and while it’s not my «thing» I see how it brings you back with the flavors of the PB&J. I get it, really I do. But it was just not my thing. My son said he would be putting PB&J on ALL his burgers from now on… let’s see if that ever happens! All in all it was a great meal. Good good, friendly service and a nice atmosphere!

Food-3 stars Service-1 star Atmosphere-2 stars Value-2 stars(I’m allowing for mountain town markups here, if we were in the city, 1 star) Ducked in here after a 6 hour hike and we were HUNGRY. As in «I’ll eat at McDonald’s if I need to» kind of hungry. We get seated in what is certainly the worst table in the place(under a stairwell that has about 5 feet of headroom and no light) and attempt to order. Despite some high tech iPad ordering system, the server managed to forget the following: silverware and napkins, one drink, and one entrée(this is a table of 2, not 22, so that’s a pretty bad miss rate). The ‘Our Favorite Burrito’ actually wasn’t bad, even though it came with exactly zero sides(I’m sure it was mentioned on the menu, but for $ 12, come on). We saw a couple of other tables have issues with orders or hair in their food(nope, not lying about that), so it seems like they were having some issues the day of our visit. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but that only explains the service, nothing else. Sorry Lucha Cantina.

Excellent restaurant. This was a great meal. Their food is amazing and the waiter was super friendly. My only complain is with the hostess, when I was leaving I asked her if I come have a little box of crayon for my grandson that probably cost a quarter and she didn’t want to give him to me. Some people should work in public places. After a great food experience, she ruined it for pennies.

Had a beverage and«Big Dipper» chip dip appetizer here and it was excellent. This venue has a very large selection of exciting and varied salsas that come highly recommended(or try them all!). They are also rated for spiciness. While its hard to pick a favorite, the guacamole, cucumber salsas, and chipotle salsa were big hits. They have a good selection of tequila cocktails and local as well as non-local beers. Best of all, this restaurant is extremely conveniently located in the heart of the historic Georgetown district within walking distance of many antique and gift stores, as well as seconds from the firefighting museum and the start of the beautiful Guanella pass roadway.

Now I can see why«highly» is one of the most used words in reviews for Lucha Canitina. I would very highly recommend this place to others, and it is highly likely that I will return for more. With a few hours to kill after our hike before we needed to set up camp in Central City, we explored Georgetown and ended up at Lucha for dinner. Arriving at 5:30, we saw a sign for live music at 7 and the world cup on the TVs. We decided to take our time and space out our orders. I started with a classic Lucha margarita($ 6, but upon receiving the check realized we got the happy hour price of $ 3.50). This was a tall glass made with fresh ingredients. The menu states it correctly in saying that you will only find healthy and fresh ingredients in all of their menu items. Next we ordered the salsa sampler with seven different homemade flavors. Much to my liking, three of them had no spice added at all. I made it around to the slightly spicy and smokey flavor before they got too hot for me, but my boyfriend finished those off with ease. The chips, like a baked pita, were also demolished. Finally we split the BBQ Bacon Burger with Lucha Tots, including a bacon weave(perfect for sandwich eating). Each flavor came out nicely, the sweet BBQ, salty bacon, and juicy burger. The bun supported it all very well. The tots were more like mashed potato balls and had a slight kick to them that I enjoyed. We were glad we stayed for the live music, which included a great solo rendition of «Crazy For You»(Patsy Cline) by the male vocalist/guitarist. Be sure to wander into the Rathskeller downstairs. Many names/words are burned into the ceiling. It was a little creepy down there without many lights or people, but it added to the experience. I can’t say enough nice things about our visit. Leaving full and happy without a dent in our wallets, I can’t wait to return.
