I have heard of Burger Island for years but have never tried any of the locations until recently. I tried this one on a recommendation from a friend of my wife. We had a little trouble finding the place since it had gotten dark and their outside sign was not yet turned on. Since we were looking specifically for this joint it was a minor inconvenience. However, under other circumstances, we would probably just gone somewhere else. My overall impression of the place was that it is a bit divey. That’s not a criticism, just an observation. It has obviously been there a while and that speaks to the quality of their product. My wife had the burger with guacamole. She can’t remember the name. I had the bacon cheeseburger. We both enjoyed the burgers. One thing I like about a griddle fried burger is the crust. Mine had a good crust. Also plenty of bacon. We ordered the large fries which were pretty good. A bit greasy for my taste but it didn’t stop us from eating almost all of them. Spoiler alert — the large order of fries is humongous. A real diet buster. But, obviously hand cut with skin on. A real plus. Since this place is quite out of the way our visits will be random. But, if I’m in the neighborhood, and hankering for a burger, this place will get the nod.

Do you love burgers? Because you can’t go wrong with any burgers here. The place is not much to look at but as long as the food is good, I could care less about the décor. We were greeted immediately upon entering the establishment. After our burgers and fries were brought out, a staff member came back by to ask how we were doing and if we needed anything else. Staff was nice and attentive. Now to the food. The fries and curly fries were both perfectly seasoned and were made fresh to order so you can’t go wrong with either. You have your typical burger options to order such as a cheeseburger or mushroom burger but if you want to be adventurous and not afraid to get a little messy, than order the Jungle Burger.(see pic) It’s a ½ lb. burger with sauteed onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, bell peppers, American and provolone cheese, mayo, ketchup, hickory sauce, mustard, lettuce, tomato, bacon and pickles. Now that was a mouthful… no pun intended. All of that for under $ 7. Good luck finishing all of that tastiness. This is a good burger joint if you’re in the area and want something cheap but good to eat.

I ordered for pick-up over the phone and talked with a very pleasant lady, who took my order quickly and kindly. She told me it’d be ten minutes, and walking in ten minutes later, they had just finished packing up my order. The dining room was about half-full, and she greeted me immediately though she was on her way to a table. A few seconds later, I was checking out and then walking out the door. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a jungle burger, and WOW, these were great. Whatever spices they put in the meat were excellent, and the combination of sauces on the jungle burger make my mouth water even right now, sitting here completely full. And of course, their fries were awesome as always. I’ll be coming back! Thanks, guys!

Looking for a great burger? You’ve found it. I have been eating here for years & keep coming back whenever I’m in the area & want a good tasty burger. I also love their French fries & their chicken philly is really good also.

Most people who’ve been in the Dallas area for a few decades have a favorite local color neighborhood Mexican place which they will tell you is the best in town. Burger Island is the hamburger equivalent. Our usual is the bacon cheeseburger for me and the guacamole burger add bacon for the wife. It is consistently, amazingly good. The taste of the beef is top notch. You can get better elsewhere, but you’ll pay twice as much. The seasoning on the bacon cheeseburger is very subdued, but the meat is so good… There are spicy stuff burgers on the menu and if I get tired of insane deliciousness I might try one. The fries are not my style, nor are the onion rings. It seems like a lot of places with really good burgers, including really good expensive burgers, have some odd ideas about how to make french fries. The burger is big enough though, that we don’t miss the fries. The look of the place is not its strong suit. They had a theme. It didn’t work. They gave up on it a long time ago. I’ve never seen it really dirty, but it always looks tired. The staff is nice. They are hospitable and efficient. No big deal, it just works.

Our team eats here every other Saturday. If you want a great lunch for a great price. Try the junior cheeseburger meal for $ 5.50. It includes fries and a drink.

Burger was decent, nothing special. Fries were soggy and I couldn’t force them down, I will not be returning. The place even LOOKS dirty

Pretty Good, we got home delivery. Onion Rings are good, not great… but they did have a nice crunch on the outside and they are real onion inside. Not like some of the fast food places. I got the Chili Cheeseburger minus the cheese. It was really good, not to spicy… someone posted that is hormel chili, but being that I don’t like hormel chili I can say this is something different almost as good as Wolf’s not quite as spicy as theirs but with enough flavor. Nicely grilled onion. Also got the funnel fries, should have left that box open as they lost their crunch by the time I got to them. Not as good as funnel cakes, missing the vanilla flavor, but not bad for the price. Nephew got the BBQ chicken sandwich, Mozzarella sticks he was pleased with his food and said he would eat from here again. I know he loves BBQ sauce and chicken, just need to add bacon and he would be tickled pink. Over all a pretty good experience phone service isn’t the greatest, takes a while for them to get your info inputed, I had to give our street address 4 times. If your not ready to take my info tell me to hold on while your PC gets you to the point to add the info.

The stuffed jalapeños and Philly cheesesteaks were really good. The peppers were large, stuffed with a lot of cheese, and I liked the batter they were cooked in. The cheesesteaks were juicy, packed with ingredients, and tasty. The restaurant looked a little dirty but overall the experience was okay.

Foods pretty good. The over the phone service, however, is something else. They have hung up on us before, told us they wouldn’t deliver because of bad weather(it had completely stopped raining when we called that day), and told us they never deliver after 3pm. That last one is my favorite, since I’ve only ever gotten delivery AFTER3pm. Its always a gamble as to whether or not they feel like delivering when I call. So don’t get your hopes up!

Wow… this place has not been cleaned since the Clinton Administration. Gross! I can’t believe I stayed and ate there. Everything about this place was wrong. Cheap frozen Great Value onion rings… cold Hormel chili… flat soda from a leaking dispensing machine(God only knows when the last time those nozzles were sanitized). Disgusting! Plain ol’ disgusting. Every table was dirty and sticky. What was I thinking?! On top of that, 35 minute wait for the WRONG burger. Not worth another try… are all Burger Islands like this? Gross! I never once saw the grill cook wash his hands. Double Gross!

The worst place to order your food, I would not be writing if it was one time, but no three times, and now you out. I was on hold for 15 minutes and still was on hold when I got there, and the girl tells me that she is too busy to answer the phone. I told her she would have been better off letting the phone ring instead of answering the phone, and she replied you would have been mad, if the phone just ring, I told her I even madder because you have not answer the phone. I WILLNEVEREVERGOBACKTOBURGERISLAND!!! DEBBYMAC!

One of the biggest burgers I have ever had. I got the Jungle Burger: sautéed onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, pickles, jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, mayo, hickory sauce, American cheese, provolone cheese, and a heart attack. I never believed in burger hangovers until the morning after eating this. Well worth it though. If you enjoy the satisfying feeling of your arteries clogging with every bite, this is definitely the place. The fries are seasoned like Wingstop(sugar), too!

This place is definitely on my top 10 burger joints in the US. The fries are awesome, too. Any of the half pound burgers are choice! The double deluxe is my favorite! The place is in strip mall and unimpressive on the inside, but don’t let that intimidate you! Definitely a destination burger joint!

Put this one in your burger rotation… Burger Island doesn’t look like much. It’s just a strip-mall joint where you order at the counter and get your own drinks. Then there’s the oddity of the giant, empty fish tank and the half-assed beach murals on the walls. And it’s hard to miss the twin TVs that are constantly blaring. But if you can fight through all that, you will be rewarded… What they serve here are full-on burgers. They are not delicate gourmet burgers for pansies. The half-pound patties are griddled up just right, not burnt to a crisp. Toppings are fresh, gooey, and oh-so good. Today I went in for the jalapeño cheeseburger and had the pleasure of dining with Cosby Show reruns on channel 27. My colon will surely hate me later, but this thing was piled high with peppers, and I scarfed every bite. When I was done, I’m sure I looked like a 6 year old that had spent more time playing with food rather than eating it. Lots of burger juices were in play. And then there were fries. You will not find a place more generous with their fries, and I am dead serious. The«small» order is about right for two people. And they are delicious — skin-on, nicely seasoned, and fried till they’re vaguely crispy. So there you have it. Burger Island is an oasis for burger lovers in Garland…(rim shot)

The JUNGLE burger… A real burger for someone with good taste. oh wow. sooooo freakin delicious. ok, here is the description: Sauteed onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, bell pepper, american and provolone cheese, mayo, mustard, ketchup, hickory sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and bacon. No «hold the onion, hold the lettuce» here. The bacon is thick and crunchy, plently of all the fixin’s – no skimping… there will be yummy onions and peppers to enjoy after you have finished your burger… you’ll be too full, but you’ll still want to grab at least a little piece of mushroom or bacon crumb… it’s that good. Oh yeah and did I mention this burger is HUGE? almost fits an entire styrafoam container and the small fry, is not small at all. The fries were pretty good too, tasted like seasoning salt. i love it all. plus you can call ahead and order, but I wouldn’t suggest it cuz all the sauce and veggies can easily make the bottom bun soggy.
