Don’t order sandwiches. It’s not 4 or 3 nor 2 star. We ordered 5 sandwiches for to go; we were so hungry and were ready to eat anything. We didn’t eat the sandwiches. It was that bad.

Best phở in the area and that is saying a lot. The owners are super nice and always remember my order(C7!). Insanely good value. Check them out!

Tonight was my 1st time trying phở but i must say the beef phở is really good. The prices are good as well, i spent a little over $ 20 and that stuffed me and my Coworker/Bro. We couldnt even finish all of the food. I will definitely be going back to VN Dish!

So I work all over LA county and have been in this Gardena/South Central area before and seen this run down piece of real estate. I flip houses for a living so I am always judgmental of any piece of property. Had an hour gap between appointments in south central so I looked up Vietnamese food and this place popped up. Looked at the reviews and decided to give it a try. Pulled up, street parking right in front. Noticed the ‘A’ food rating. Ok great start. Came in and was just a couple eating their lunch and I was immediately sat down by what I’m reading is the wife/cook/owner. She was delighted I spoke to her in Vietnamese, maybe that helped. Ordered ‘C5’ a small phở, with rice and grilled beef AND2 egg rolls…$ 10.25? Deal. Food came out not too quick(good sign) and not too long. Phở small size was pretty decent size. Tasted great. Came out like any other phở place, noodles clumped together in hot broth and few slices of meat. It’s a small on a combo, what did you expect? Egg rolls look over fried, tasted ok. The rice and beef platter nothing special. Tasted good. Would come back if working in the area.

Was craving phở for breakfast and although they say they’re open at 10am that’s not the truth

I’m genuinely surprised that this place has 4 ½ stars. I got the tofu spring rolls and bahn mi sandwich. The bahnmi bread is stale and hard, which makes the sandwich almost impossible to eat. The tofu in the spring roll is overly fried, dry, and completely bland. I’m guessing they left it out for a while. Very disappointed by my lunch :(

Great food! Been eating Phở for years and I just recently found out about this place, it’s a hole in the wall but who cares as long as the food is decent and the price is right! I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the look of the place

Love the variety of Vietnamese food. The banh sandwiches and soups are very tasty. The combos are good and just the right price. Run by two hard working individuals. Also love the baby coconut juice and Thai ice tea.

Family owned business, with that said the wife is the cook and the husband in charge of taking orders, cleaning, and charging. Prices are very inexpensive. I think the best prices for any Asian food I’ve been to. Food was better in the past but still good. I can’t complain about service they are genuinely sweet.

The food is fantastic value. Vietnamese sandwiches range from $ 3.00-$ 3.75 depending on the meat of your choice(pork, chicken, beef, combo, etc.). For $ 7.95, you’ll get a whopping deal by way of ‘combo meals’ like a small phở + sandwich or grilled rice plate + egg/spring rolls. We got the small phở + grilled pork sandwich. The food is fresh, authentic and very delicious. Instead of the usual bowl of MSG, their phở is much lighter where the flavors of meat and noodles come through nicely. The bahn-mi is some 14 inches long(at least). Everything from the toasted baguette to the ratio of veggies to grilled, glazed meat makes this a true winner. I simply love the ample amount of pickled veggies and meat with every single bite. Grilled pork is the way to go — do ittttt. If I passed through Gardena in the day time more often, this would be the spot for a filling, tasty grab-n-go meal. I’d take at least a few sandwiches with me and eat them throughout the week. Street parking is easy. My suggestion would be to get takeout or dine there in broad daylight.

Total hole in the wall but ran by a sweet family. The banh mi order we placed to go was ready and hot when we arrived. We also got spring rolls and enjoyed all of it. Bread is fluffy without being too hard or dense. The meats were delicious and much better quality than Lee’s sandwiches.

Bahn mi and Phở for under $ 8. There’s five stars right there. Tasting the Phở consume was like finding the answer to the question of life. After the first sip, I stopped and thanked God for making me.

Summary: Delicious Phở and Bun for an affordable price. Pros: Delicious phở with plenty of noodles. Friendly owner. Very affordable and filling. Cons: The dining area could be cleaner. Street parking only. Details: I usually get the Phở Tai, and either egg rolls or extra noodles. The Phở Tai is loaded with noodles and meat, and the broth is perfect. Not too salty, not too bland. The egg rolls are crispy and served with sweet and sour sauce, but they will give you fish sauce if you request it. The owner is very nice and even suggested I try the dish in a different way with the meat on the side next time I’m there. There aren’t any Michelin stars on this place and if you’re afraid of a little dirt on the floor, then this might not be the place for you. But if you love phở at a good price, then you can’t go wrong with VN Dish.

VN Dish is a hidden gem in the northern part of the Gardena neighborhood — reasonable price and great taste. However, don’t get deceived by some of the stylistic features of this restaurant: * The place looks very rundown. * A TV playing«Just for Laughs» program all-day-long! This is a family-run restaurant and the owner is very friendly. I often order things to-go from them in the afternoon. My favorite is the Vietnamese ice coffee and the grilled pork banh mi. Phở is also great. A hidden gem means you can easily find parking too. Highly recommended!

The easiest way to get here is to come from Rosecrans then go south on Western. The restaurant will be on your right and is kind of hard to notice. We parked on the street just in front. I was really excited to try the place. have to say that I love the idea that they advance: small phở + bahn mi. This is the perfect combination. Theoretically, each of these individual items at average quality, together would be excellent. Needless to say I was super excited. I saw that on the menu: you could only get a beef, chicken, or pork Bahn Mi with the small phở. I asked politely if there was a way to substitute a different sandwich(Pâté and Ham, or Pâté and Meat Loaf) for the grilled chicken/pork/beef. I offered that I would pay the difference also(max of $.75) and I was rejected without an explanation. To me this makes no sense, you can get a grilled beef banh mi($ 3.50) and phở but can not sub in a Pâté and Meat Loaf Bahn Mi($ 3.00), kind of doesn’t make sense. Which kind of leads to the next point, the service. I think there is something lost in translation here as the man taking my order didn’t speak very good english. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say he just didn’t understand, or maybe there is something going on that I don’t know about as to why I couldn’t sub. The food: The food was really average. Bahn mi grilled chicken and beef: very average, the bread wasn’t super fresh and and the grilled chicken was fine. Bahn mi ingredients go together so well that it really only needs to be fresh to be great. Out of five stars this was a three. Phở: just average, lacked character and complexity. There was no depth to the phở as it was almost watery and not bursting with beef flavor. Pros: Combo of phở and bahn mi, unbeatable. Cheap. Fairly fast. Cons: Location(kind of in the hood). I haven’t been back but that’s not saying I wouldn’t go back. There are just too many options down here in the south bay. With that said, I’m planning to give them another try soon.

Always looking for a good phở spot & this one didn’t disappoint! I had their C4 combo which came with phở, bbq pork, rice &2 spring rolls all for the whopping price of $ 10! Yes, only $ 10! When I first got my bowl of phở it smelled a lil cinnamon-y so I was kind of suspect as to what it was gonna taste like but it was seriously good. The broth(which can be kind of bland @ some places) was out of this world. The pork was really tasty and the spring rolls were ok — I’ve had better. All in all this is a spot worth revisiting… will definitely be back!

VN Dish is close to Rosecrans. It’s open on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. I asked for the most popular phở. I ordered a small bowl, which came with a ton of noodles. The food was good and prices were reasonable.

VN Dish seriously needs to raise the price of their banh mi and phở special because it’s a total steal! You get so much food for only $ 8. Yes you read that correctly, a banh mi sandwich and phở combo for only $ 8! I get full eating just the phở, and save the sandwich for later. They owners are a friendly mom & pop store which I’m all about supporting! VN Dish is not for the pretentious and snobby, because you’ll probably faint from the neighborhood. And if that hasn’t scared you off, the interior is not gonna look better either. However the cheap food and friendly service will keep you coming back. And if you’re a regular like my coworkers and I, then the owner will remember your order right away.

Friendly customer service. Great bahn mi sandwiches. Ordered the grilled pork with extra meat and oh wow… the flavors were so amazing. The shrimp soup with shrimp wonton(#17) was amazing as well. The broth was so good I can have this everyday. So far I have not been disappointed and will definitely be back!
