Every time we have a potluck, my friend brings some delicious Vietnamese dish. I finally had the chance to check out this place she goes and pick up some yummy food. Located a few doors down from Boiling Crab, this place is small and mainly for to-go catering orders. Parking is available, but I could see it being super packed on weekends. You can order some dishes for dine in but it’s not really that kind of place. We picked up my favorites: Goi Ngo Sen(lotus root salad) and small order of Bahn Beo. Reasonably priced and fresh. I think it’s cash only? Or at least credit card isn’t advertised. Language may be an issue, but my friend ordered for me. But now as long as I know the names of the things I like, I think I’ll be okay. Will be back soon!

Bun bo hue — pretty bland. Even the chili paste is bland and not spicy. I like that they give plenty of meat, cha, and blood cake. Also I really like the plate of thinly shredded red cabbage. No other bun bo hue place offers that. Suong sao — very sweet seaweed longan drink. Taste really good once the ice melts and dilutes it a bit. Banh beo — when I’m a little more hungry, I would order this as a yummy appetizer. Best to share with other ppl.

Bun bo hue is good here but other foods are just average. Since most of Vietnamese restaurant owners take tip money, I always ask the servers if they are allowed to take tip money. Unfortunately, these servers are NOTALLOWEDTOTAKETIPMONEY. These owners are so greedy, don’t tip them

First time coming here for lunch. The person taking my order has a strong accent so be patient with her. I order the Bun Bo Hue and it cost $ 7. While I sit and wait for my bowl of deliciousness to come out; I go my normal routine and clean my pair of chopstick and spoon. While I clean my first set of chopstick; the sticky residue would not come off. I try for a second time and it still feels like the stickyness is still there. I decided to try another set and this one wasn’t as bad as the other one. When my bowl of bun bo hue came out, the portion size is has big as «ngu binh» and the meat to noodles is on point. I used my chopsticks to stirred the noodle and realize that that my think vermicelli is breaking apart. It indicated that my vermicelli is old or overcooked. I would come back here but not as a regular. I do not dare to test out the broth because of probable of MSG and wod get me sick. So, all and all, decent place to cater for a party and decent place for a quick sit and eat.

Their Bun Bo Hue is the best in the area. I don’t really like any other Bun bo hue place. Workers here don’t speak English so maybe it’d be nice if you can just speak simple English to them? There’s a Sugar Cane juice store next door and Tebo/Starbucks across the parking lot so I’d prefer coming here anytime.

We were excited to find this little eating place and food to go but turned out the diner was horrible !!! First the chopsticks were sticky, not very clean. Then Bun Bo Hue, their specialty, was terrible. Once big piece of beef shrank, thick and tough as leather. The shrimp ball was pinky and doesn’t taste like shrimp. Salty, greasy. They served with beansprout, this dish should never be severed with bean sprout. My Quang & banh canh tom cua Hue also were so bad. By the way they spoke Vietnamese, I knew they came from Hue. The dishes I named above are specialty from Hue. They got no pride in what they are doing. 7.50 for a bowl of soup, all you got some greasy broth, salty and lots of sugar in the soup. They need to learn how to cook. Don’t let the pictures fool you, people from Hue doesn’t eat this way. Food from Hue supposing to be delicate and tasty. Bun Bo should have fragrance of lemon grass, beef shrank should be thinly sliced, should be boiled first then cooked on skillet with spicy before go into the broth. Sugar should not be used in broth… Bottom line, they careless about their customers. They need to learn how to clean the table better. If they can washed the chopsticks and spoon better then use disposable !! Would never return to this place.

It’s a shabby, little food to go place but I don’t care where it is that I find my next bowl of bun bo hue. There was a rubber band in my bowl of bun bo hue(spicy beef noodle soup). Of course, they have to stay true to the typical Vietnamese service by simply shrugging it off when I showed it to them. They did offer another bowl when I continued to express my annoyance. Ummm. no, thank you. Never. Again. What my stars mean: 5 Must try. not necessarily perfection cuz there isn’t such a thing right? 4 Recommended 3 Ehhh. Try it if it’s convenient 2 Not recommended 1 Stay far far away

I heard about this place from a friend. I like their bun Bo hue here. The place isn’t really a restaurant. It’s more of a to go place. It’s cheap and it’s CASHONLY! they don’t understand English at all. So bring a friend who can speak Vietnamese.

I eat here only because it’s cheap. I always order the bun bo hue, and its pretty good. They give a lot for the price. BUT, I will never eat here again only because I found a worm in their vegetables that was suppose to go with the bun bo hue. It comes to show how unsanitary this place is.

I’ve been coming here ever since I was a small child. Since I’ve recently moved here, I decided to go back because I saw such good reviews about this place. I’m half viet so Vietnamese isn’t my first language, but it is enough to order me a bun bo hue Togo… All of the employees here can’t speak a lick of English. I tried ordering a bun bo hue extra noodles for my boyfriend and they just gave me a large bun bo hue. I mentioned extra noodles at least 4x at the register but he just kept nodding and rushing me to pay. I tried to ask if they take credit card but he just laughed at me. While I waited for my food, I sat at a communal table where others were waiting for their food and saw a cockroach wandering the floors of their restaurant. It made me want to get up and ask for my money back and leave but I feel like they wouldn’t understand anything I’d explain. 15 minutes pass by and still no sign of my food, but all the other people got their food. I feel as if they took my money and«forgot» my order. I’ve been sitting there for 15 minutes right in the front, I go back to the register to ask how much longer my food is taking and and he tried to take my order.(wtf?) I finally got my food and they didn’t give me extra noodles. Again, I ask for extra noodles and they act like I’m crazy. They start screaming into the kitchen asking for my extra noodles and come out with a box of noodles and said it was $ 1.50… I ordered it at the register 4 times, tried to clarify what I wanted and ended up walking out because it was just too ridiculous how bad the customer service is here. If you mess up this many times and I’ve been waiting 20 – 25 minutes, is $ 1.50 of a mistake that their own worker did really worth it? The food here… Is an experience. It was good but different. Very different. But with that horrible customer service how are you going to convince anyone to come back. And heads up, if you are supposed to be known for your magnificent noodles here, learn the word noodles in English. It would help you quite a lot. I saw a lady come in and ask a question about sugar cane juice and they stared at her with a confused face and then just walked away. Usually I feel bad leaving such a horrible review on an establishment I’ve been going to since I was young but they probably can’t even read this. Horrible experience people weren’t lying when they said they have the worst customer service and this place needs to get a health inspector in here asap.

This place is really simplistic and has a pure asian vibe. You come in, order, eat, and write a Unilocal review. The food comes in quick and you’ll be full from their portion sizes. Pretty good overall.

I went here after a day of snowboarding so we wanted something hot and soupy. I ordered an appetizer — banh nam — and was hoping to enjoy it before the spicy beef bowl — bun bo hue — came out but that didn’t happen. I also asked for blanched bean sprouts and she brought it as is. So I sent it back. She took the same bean sprouts off the veggie plate and returned the veggie plate less the the bean sprouts. Then brought the blanched bean sprouts on a to go plastic plate rather than a regular plastic plate. If service was a bit better, this place would be getting 5-stars despite its hole-in-the-wall self.

Whoever created this Unilocal business page is WRONG nothing about this place is Chinese nothing! Lien Hue is an all Vietnamese restaurant. The food is from the central region of Vietnam called Hue. The ladies who work here couldn’t sound less like they belong in that region even if they tried. Here are their specialties: 1. Bun bo hue — beef noodle soup from the Hue region 2. Nem chua — hard to describe this but pickled beef with garlic and fresh chilis wrapped in banana leaf. Tip: I like to dip in soy sauce with fresh chilis and a fresh tarragon leaf 3. Banh bot loc — small banana leaf wrapped steamed tapioca cakes with shrimp and pork in the middle. Eaten with special fish sauce. 4. Banh beo — small rice cakes topped with dried shrimp and deep fried shallots. Eaten with special fish sauce. They offer more options but these are my favorite. The service may lack but the food makes up for it. Please forgive my grammar I wrote this review while driving.

**SWEETBUTNOTSPICYBUNBOHUE** 3.5 stars. PARKING ======= Strip mall. AMBIANCE ======== Small and divey, but endearing. Customers and owners are all friendly here. Mom and pops restaurant. FOOD ===== BANHBEO — $ 6 A whole bunch of the pancakes on a platter; not in individual dishes. Needed more chopped dried or fresh shrimp, scallions, mung bean paste, and crispy fried shallots. The cake was also too thick. RATING: 3⁄5 BUNBOHUE — $ 6 for small Good noodles, generous meats, but not spicy enough. Broth was sweet. The soup came out lukewarm and not hot. RATING: 4⁄5 OVERALL ======== This place is solid with its soups and Hue dishes, but I do like my bánh bèo served differently(in individual dishes) and my bún bò hue spicier. However, it is a solid restaurant for Hue(Central Vietnam) regional cuisine, I will still RECOMMEND it.
