Love! The fish tastes fresh and the pieces I get are usually larger so the 3 piece meal fills me up. I like to ranch on the side for my fries. This is the only H Salt I go to because of their convenient location and friendly service.

I’ve always loved this place, haven’t gone in a while but got some to go tonight and it’s still good! Yummm, nothing fancy but who wants fancy! ;b

The history behind H. Salt alone is worthy of 3 stars… Mr. Haddon Salt himself is an original Fish and Chips operator in England, and even though it’s popularity among the masses has waned over the years, living near and driving by the storefront is nostalgic enough to keep me coming back… get your fix here.

There really is nothing better than a good fish n chip, sad to say you will not find it here. From the old grease to the flavorless fish and batter or would you prefer bland frozen fries. You are better off at Long John Silvers than this place.

I want to like this place, I really do but they’re making it much to hard! The fish was a little under cooked but still tasty, french fries were sad and soggy. But the worst part was the constant battle with all the flys. They seem to be living in the soda machine which doesn’t seem to have been cleared in a while. All the tables were dirty so it took some searching to find the least dirty one. I wouldn’t recommend eating here, maybe just get takeout. Although if the front is this neglected I’m scared to think what the kitchen must be like. I won’t be going back, it’s just too risky. It’s a shame since I’ve been eating H. Salt fish at other places for decades but they seem to closing them down. I’m going to miss them.

Great fish and chips. Thin battered fish just the way I like it. Will be back most definitely!

I have always loved fish and chips, and when I found H. Salt, I was in love. If you’re looking for gourmet, you’re not going to find it here. But it’s that unexpected hole in the wall, that is decently priced. I first went to H. Salt over in Tustin, but I like this location a lot better. It’s close to Disneyland, so if you didn’t want to pay for the over priced food at Disney, you can just drive down a few streets to H. Salt! When you first walk in, you might noticed the much needed to be updated décor and the Chinese food area. Because apparently Chinese food goes really well with Fish and Chips. The prices are roughly the same as any other location. And you get huge portions. I get full off of 2 fish and chips combo(I forget the exact name at the moment). Their scallops are really delicious and surprisingly wasn’t fishy tasting. The few times I’ve been here it has been the same Asian man working the counter and the kitchen. Even though it’s just him, he gets the food out in a timely matter. I also like that if you dine in you get unlimited tartar sauce! At the other H. Salt location you still have to pay for extra beyond the little cup that they give you. Oh! And the tv is always on the Create Channel, and I’m a sucker for cooking shows. So that’s also a plus. =]

A great little H. Salt Fish & Chips place! I got a couple of Big Ben orders to go and they were very good. Good service, very nice people.

Come here for lunch I got half an hour and food took 25 mins to come out. I ordered than I see the dude taking his lunch and then he goes back after he’s done eating and finally my foods ready. Uh fuck this place. Don’t waste your money on these dumb ass asian owners who don’t know shit about running a business. Eh no line doe, one star for that

It’s a very small place which is typical for H. Salt. The owner is nice enough and the food is all made to order. The fries are good here, but the fish fillets are cut a little thinner than what you would see at other locations. Prices are the same as other locations. There are no rest rooms at this location.

When I’m in the mood for some yummy fish and chips I come here. This place is a bit difficult to find because of the directions on Unilocal. The price is doable and the service is quite friendly. Me and my sister come here often and usually share a portion since they give you plenty of fries and fish(: ask them for ketchup, ranch and tapatio, if its not already out on your table!

Ok. So… This one location seemed flawed. The other location in Westminster I will check out based on accurate photos of the size of the fish! This H. Salt fish is legendary! It earns 5STARS all the way! Yes, it’s greasy, but not in a Long John Silvers kinda cheap oil way. It’s got large shrimp deep fried and the fish has an amazing Puffy batter that makes it so delectable you want to binge eat it! Thick fries and tartar sauce are a no fail addition! I hardly eat fish and chips, maybe once a year! I will be going to H. Salt for my next cheat meal…

One of the better fish & chips places– blows away Long John silvers– nothing fancy just delicious greasy fish/shrimp & hush puppies

Delicious. Crispy batter. Not loaded with salt. Hurrah. No greasy batter. Yippee. Fish was just right. We left with very happy tummies. Doesn’t look very inviting from outside — don’t let this put you off. We had fish & chips plus one was with zucchini. Like their tartar sauce too mmm Choice of Chinese food is not a surprise — looked good

We are about one mile from this place and they delivered fish n chips to our home. It was perfect! Very crispy moist and with all the sides included. We order fish, clams, chips and they threw in a mini sampler of mushrooms and zucchini. Yes I took my Crestor but it was delicious! The gal that helped us was very helpful and courteous. I will definitely be coming back. Thanks.

I did enjoy the food, but I also enjoy a fairly decent atmosphere. I did enjoy the batter. It was light and crispy and didn’t flake off as I bit into which is a huge pet peeve. I ordered the 3 fish and french fry combo to split with the boo and I was very happy to hear the frying go on after we ordered. We also had a side of zucchini which were also tastey and hot. All of this was about 12 bucks. The place is a little small and dull. The Miami Vice in spanish was a little out of place also. It just needs a little make over and more up beat employee who doesn’t look like he wants to kill himself.

I went right before noon before the lunch crowd, so I was the only one there. I wasn’t waiting too long as the guy went in the back and started cooking my order. The fish was good(I know they’re from frozen) and the chips were decent. If you’re craving fish and chips, this is one of the top choices, in my opinion. They were a bit stingy with the malt vinegar, but otherwise a good meal and the place had several tables for seating, although the place is pretty small. I think I will go back again.

S side of Chapman just E of West St. 3 stars could not be any more spot on! HS F & Cs is certainly not reinventing the wheel, but what they do they do fairly well. I always have to start off with their little deep fried delights known as Hush Puppies: and they actually do them better here than anywhere else I’ve tried them at. If you come here then you have try/split some of these nicely herbed goodies! On a most recent visit I felt compelled to try one of their combo meals that gave me the opportunity to try a plethora of their food… The Captain’s Combo: so yeah. 2 Piece Fish & Shrimp with some Fries. Nothing fancy or amazing, but certainly did the trick. The gal working was very nice, the food came out lightning fast, and the place was spotless. Seating comes in the form of regular tables and plastic booths. Décor is very minimalistic and they have a warm palate of creams, browns, and whites. There is plenty of parking.

The short of it: — good fish and chips — lots of fried items(clams, fries, hush puppies, mushrooms) — prices are reasonable — Favs: combo #1(1 fish, 1 shrimp and fries) The long of it: Found out about this place through a co-worker. The batter on the fish is good and I really like the tartar sauce here. I like how they have lots of items to choose from and different combos. Excellent place to go to if you are craving fried foods! As far as the sides I really like their fried mushrooms. Has the same batter and its fried deliciousness. Pair it with some ranch and you are good to go!

I happened to find this place on Unilocal by accident and decided to bookmark it. This past weekend I was craving Oysters & chips from Andrias(Ventura Harbor) so I decided to try H. Salt Fish & Chips when I found out they had fried oysters! I walked-in and it was empty. Yay! BF and I got: –Combo 1(4.75): 1 fish, 1 Jumbo shrimp with fries –Oyster & Chips(6.85): 6 oysters w/fries Everything we ordered were really good. The fish was pretty fresh & the oysters satisfied my craving. Even thought they’re not as big as Andria’s, it beats the one I had in San Diego. The food was pretty good, that my BF I wished we had ordered more. It’s true what I read on the reviews, the Tartar sauce is different from what I’ve had. It was pretty good that my BF liked it and he doesn’t do Tartar sauce. Difference with this place & Andria’s Seafood is that Andria’s does not charge for extra tartar sauce, H. Salt does. You get more fish at Andria’s than you do at H. Salt. Overall, I will be back here since I never have time to stop by Andria’s whenever I’m back in town.
